This Father's Heart
And he said, Take now thy son, thine only [son] Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. (Gen. 22:2)
Silver Moon that shines down on
This dark and gloomy place,
And also lays its beams upon
A precious little face,
Just beyond the foothills now,
Across the snowy peaks,
Gently touch her sleeping brow,
Caress her lovely cheeks.
Angels guard this resting frame,
Whose softest breaths they hear.
Watch her soul in Jesus' name,
Casting out her fear.
This father's heart so fraught with care
That longs with her to be,
Through prison walls unceasing prayer
He makes with mercy's plea.
As Abraham did Isaac cherish,
This promised son of blessing,
His hopes and dreams not meant to perish,
For faith he was professing.
This father too, his child doth bring
To God in full surrender,
A sacrifice to which he must not cling,
This little one, so tender.
As hope must die a lonely death
And lie beneath the ground,
To wait for resurrected breath
When new life shall be found,
So this father lives and dies
In hope so often dwindled,
Again to see those joy-filled eyes
And smiling heart re-kindled.

Faith on the Earth
...nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
(Luke 18:8)
When the Son of Man cometh
Shall he find faith upon the earth,
A living faith within his people,
Or unbelief and dearth?
When the Bridegroom for his bride returns
Coming then for his bethrothed,
Will she ready for her wedding be
In spotless garments clothed?
Will he find his servants watching
Like the virgins at the gate,
And their vessels filled with oil
As they for the Bridegroom wait?
Or must He rouse them from their slumber,
In confusion, fraught with cares,
When he comes to thresh the harvest
Separating wheat from tares?
When the Son of God shall appear
Will we waiting for him be?
Will He our crosses on our shoulders
And the world forsaken see?
Will he give us commendation
And place a crown upon our head?
Or will shame and sorrown meet us
As he calls to us instead?

Daughters of Sarah 1Peter 3: 1-6
Likewise, ye wives, [be] in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
While they behold your chaste conversation [coupled] with fear.
Whose adorning let it not be that outward [adorning] of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
But [let it be] the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, [even the ornament] of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement. 1Pet.3:1-6
Where are the daughters of Sarah
And of those holy women of old,
Blessed mothers and wives in Israel,
Whose faith in Jehovah was bold?
These were the daughters of Sarah,
Who trembled in the presence of God,
And conducted themselves in quietness,
While on this dark earth they trod.
Praise for the offspring of Sarah
Whose souls so inwardly adorned,
With grace that is altogether lovely,
But here in this world is scorned.
There is a need for the daughters of Sarah
In the world that we live in today,
For women of faith, who stand firm in the truth,
As examples to those going astray.
Give us now daughters of Sarah,
Obedient, patient and strong,
With love for their husbands and children,
Consistently doing no wrong.
Rise up ye daughters of Sarah!
From the trends of this world now turn.
Fear not the women of Babylon;
But fear Him Who is soon to return!

A Follower
Come, Follow Me
Take up your cross and Follow Me
A home in heaven waits.
Forsake this world and you will see
The glory of its gates.
The sting of death is what I bore
For you upon the tree.
To give you life and so much more
As it was meant to be.
“Disciple” I am calling you
Reproach for me to bear.
As I your teacher always knew
My righteousness you’d wear.
Do not expect the world to give
Approval or its love.
My Spirit in your heart shall live;
Your mind on things above.
Come unto Me, I’ll give you rest;
The journey is not long.
Eternally you will be blessed
And sing redemption’s song.
Did not the preacher tell you this,
That dying is your lot?
In clinging to this life you’ll miss
Salvation that you sought.
This cross for you I’ve made today;
It’s not too much to carry.
I’ll help you bear it on the way,
So come, and do not tarry!
WMC
And he said to [them] all, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?
For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and [in his] Father's, and of the holy angels.
(Luk 9:23-26)

My Theme
Trust in God
Courage brother, do not stumble,
Though your path be dark as night;
There's a star to guide the humble,
Trust in God and do the right.
Let the road be rough and dreary,
And it's end far out of sight,
Foot it bravely, strong or weary;
Trust in God and do the right.
Perish policy and cunning.
Perish all that fears the light;
Whether losing, whether winning
Trust in God and do the right.
Trust no party, sect or faction,
Trust no leaders in the fight;
But in every word and action
Trust in God and do the right.
Simple rule and safest guiding,
Inward peace and inward might,
Star upon our path abiding;
Trust in God and do the right.
Some will hate you, some will love you,
Some will flatter, some will slight;
Cease from man, and look above you,
Trust in God and do the right.
Cease ye from man, whose breath [is] in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of? (Isa 2:22) Poem written by Norman Lacleod
