    Yearning Prayer

    Remove the Hindrance

              Whatever there remains in me,

And is not pleasing unto thee,

              Remove it, Lord!

Let your Spirit search down deep,

Not a trace of sin I’d keep.

              Expose it, Lord!

Cause a fire in me to burn,

Grant the power from self to turn.

              Consume it, Lord!

Thy light of truth would I see,

              Surrendered, holy man I’d be.

              Make me, Lord!

Take me to thy throne of grace,

And let me see thy blessed face.

              Lift me, Lord!

Then send me back the world to show,

The glory of the grace I know.

              O fulfill it, Lord!

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:  And see if [there be any] wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.  Ps. 139: 23,24

    Young Disciples

(Like Emily on  her Thirteenth Birthday)

    Matthew chapters five and six

    Jesus calls His blessed children

Out from this world to be

    True disciples, holy people

    would they His kingdom see.

    Seven blesseds, yes and eight

    On them He did bestow,

While on the mountain He was speaking

    And their election show.

First, they are in spirit poor

    When of the kingdom heirs.

Next, they mourn in sorrow now

    For comfort will be theirs.

Third, they are so mild and meek,

    The earth they shall inherit.

For righteousness they thirst and hunger,

    Are filled with Jesus' merit.

Pure in heart and seeing God

    So are these littles ones.

    Making peace with other folk

Now does He call them sons.

    But persecution also comes

    While on this journey going

    Following their Master home

    His holy word their sowing.

"Rejoice!" He says, "and leap for joy.

    For great is your reward."

The world rejects His children now

As then they did their Lord.

Lay up your treasures not here on earth

    Where moth and rust decay

For where your deepest treasure is,

Your heart is there to stay.

Take no thought for life today

What you shall eat or need.

Does He not clothe the lilies fair

    And birds and creatures feed?

"Seek ye first His kingdom," child,

And all these things are yours.

Let His love abound in you

On whom His grace He pours.
