    HEAVENS HEARTH

    Angered lash of winters gale

    Cutting deep with biting hale

    Turning now to drifting snow

Blinding sight to where I’d go

To far of windows fading light

To escape this world turning white

To hide from cold that bites the nose

    And freezes now complaining toes

Weary steps draw me closer still

Where heat is had to counter chill

Snow now drifts like billowing foam

As through its softness; I struggle home

A soul redeemed is lashed by gales

    Exertions breath quick exhales

Eyes still fixed to faded light

That guides it through winter’s night

My heart is lifted as I near

The opening door to fires cheer

Escaping the bite of chilling blast

To rest beside home hearth at last

A gladdened soul enters Heavens door

Where chilling winds can bite no more

Trials of life that plagued on earth

Are now forgotten besides Heavens hearth

    A HOME

    Hear His words of welcome

    Hear His words; well done

    Hear the words of greeting

    Coming from God’s dear Son

    Feel His hands now touching

    Feel His arms embrace

    Feel His tender touch

As you gaze upon His face

See the nail prints in His hands

See the thorn marks on His brow

See His blessed face at last

For you are in Heaven now

    Home at last in Glory

    Home at last to stay

    Home for all eternity

    That will never pass away

    No more pain to suffer

    No more tears to cry

    No more of them falling

For God will wipe them dry

A mansion for you to live in

    A dwelling within its towers

A home built by the Saviour

    And forever now is yours

    Colin Moffett.

Thanks to Beth Hillards for her greeting in her blog and putting these thoughts in my head!

    DANCING FLAMES

    Dancing flames of fire bright

    Welcomes warmly my icy feet

Outside the world is turning white

In wintry showers of snow and sleet

Listening to the north wind blow

    Howling at the window pane

    Watching drifting flakes of snow

Cover vacant fields beside the lane

I bathed in glow of joyful heat

    Greedy flames devouring coals

    In cosiness of armchair seat

Mused of eternal flames burning souls

    Coal shaped figures did appear

In front of drooping sleepy eyes

And in fancy I could hear

    Gnashing teeth and bitter cries

Escape the flames; my imagined cry

My eyes transfixed to fiery glow

Come to Jesus with sins scarlet dye

And be washed whiter than the snow

    At fireside a lesson learned

Of drifting snow and licking flame

Then closed my eyes as fire burned

And sleep crept in and overcame

    GOLDEN

    Weeping leaves like golden tears

    Kissing gently frosted ground

Beneath gnarled tree; soft under feet

    A golden carpet spreads around

    Frost has loosened holding stem

Breeze has caught them in her breath

Sets them on the dewy grass

Like golden coinage of untold wealth

A tree once stood in leafless form

No crown of beauty could it wear

For on its trunk cruelly nailed

The Son of God was hanging there

    Weeping blood like crimson tears

    Flowing softly to the ground

Beneath gnarled tree at His feet

Peace for my soul was finally found

Golden leaves of a carpet deep

A golden path that I tread

Soon to walk a golden street

With a golden crown on my head

    WE MUST REMEMBER

What remember we of soldier men

Who went to battlefield to fight and die?

Muddy trenches soaked blood and gore

In giving life; could not do more

    Who never saw homeland again

And now in silent graves they lie

    What remember we of airmen

Who soared like birds on metal wings?

Blue sky background to twists and turns

When wind fanned the flame that burns

Of spiralling plane; never to fly again

As in plummets end; death it brings

    What remember we of seamen

Who fought on oceans of angry foam

    The ever moving restless waves

    Tell mournfully of watery graves

As they lap the shores again

Whispering of souls who never came home

What remember we of woman; man

Who sacrificed life to keep us free?

They stood between us and the foe

An awful debt to them we owe

When evil succeeded not in hellish plan

What means it all to you and me?

What remember we of the Crucified

Who went to die for you and me?

Blood poppy red on cross was spilled

The words uttered before breath was stilled

It is finished! He loudly cried

And victory was won on that tree

Call to remembrance of sacrifice made

Gather your thoughts this day of November

Of ones who died to keep you free

Of Jesus who died for you on a tree

Shame on us if their memories should fade

And we never bothered of them to remember
