Walking in the Truth
John stated in 2 John 1:4 (NRSV) 4I was overjoyed to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as we have been commanded by the Father. This is the theme I want to pursue in my posts. Walking in the truth is putting our faith in the action. It is living consistently with what we profess to believe. I am looking forward to dialogue. I have in the flyleaf of all my personal use Bibles: ...I... '...claim a right to retract any opinion which improvement in reasoning and knowledge may at any time show me is groundless.' (Hey's 'Lectures On the Article?) Lightfoot, Gal. p. xi. Then, if I err in some things, which by the grace of God I hope Is not the case, I pray everyone for the Lord's take, lest I be put to shame, that If anyone hath stronger and more convincing truth, he, through brotherly love, exhortation', and instruction might assist me. I desire with my heart to accept it, If he be right. Deal with me according to the intention of the Spirit and the Word of Christ. (Menno) We do not need to fear being found wrong; we need to fear that our errors will not be found out or that we will be too obstinate to correct our errors when they are exposed.
