    WYSIWYG

When I first learned the spreadsheet program Lotus 1-2-3, I remember it having a part called WYSIWYG, meaning what you see is what you get.

That’s is true in our lives too.  If we see ourselves sick, no matter how many Scriptures we quote or how many preachers lay hands on us, we will still be sick.

Why?  Because that’s the picture we have of ourselves inside us.

The image we have of ourselves on the inside is the picture that will manifest on the outside.  If we see ourselves sick, we will be sick.  If we see ourselves well, we will be well.

An angel of the Lord visited Mary, a young woman who was engaged to be married, to tell her that she would conceive a child by the Holy Spirit.

Mary had a choice: she could believe what God said through the angel, or she could believe her natural circumstances.

What did she do?  “And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her” (Luke 1:38).

She took to heart what the angel said and let the image of that word rise up in her.

That’s what we need to do.  We must choose to believe what God says about us and let it seep deep into our spirits.  Then it will rise up and paint a new picture of how we see ourselves.

Remember what you see is what you get.  You will speak according to how you see yourself on the inside.  And Jesus tells us in Mark 11:23 that we can have whatever we say.

I encourage you to change the picture inside you by daring to believe what God says you are.

    Who Are Identifying With?

    What are you identifying with?

How many times have you said “my sickness”?  How many times have you said “my debt”?  “My problem”?

When you say these things, you are identifying with your problems.  You are owning them.

If the Word is true, and we know it is, then Jesus said in John 10:10, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

James stated that every good and perfect gift is from above (James 1:17).

The author of your problems, your sickness, your money trouble is not God.  It is satan.  When you identify with those problems, you are agreeing with the devil.

The power of agreement (Matthew 18:19) is so strong that if you agree with the devil, you will solidify those problems in your life.

However, God says that you and your problems are not one in the same.  He says that you are seated in heavenly places.  He says you are a king and a priest and have authority over your problems.  If you agree with what God says,  then you will solidify your victory instead of your defeat.

    Who are you identifying with?

Choose to be on the winning team.  Choose to identify with God and what He says about you.

    You Have Enough Faith

Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: - Acts 10:34 (KJV).

I have started reading "Ever Increasing Faith" by Smith Wigglesworth. As I read the testimonies of others who were healed under his ministry, faith arose in my heart.

I know that what God has done for others, He is willing and able to do for me.

God is not respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). He is a respecter of faith. If you have faith, if you believe in God and His ability to do for you what He did for Abraham, for the lady with the issue of blood, for Smith Wigglesworth, Joyce Meyer, Oral Roberts and the other great men and women of faith, then He will do it.

We all think that these people are special that God won't do for us what He did for them. Oh no! That is a lie from the very pit of hell. We have all been given the same measure of faith (Romans 12:3). The more we use it, the bigger it grows. But if we have faith as small as a grain of mustard seed, we can have whatever we say if we don't doubt in our hearts (Mark 11:23).

If we have all been given faith the same measure of faith, then you have faith at least the grain of a mustard seed.

Whatever it is in your life that is hindering, speak to it. Command it to go. Expect it to do so. It may not be as quick a result as when Jesus cursed the fig tree (Matthew 21:19-21), but it will happen for you, if you believe and don't doubt in your heart.

    In God We Trust

What are you believing God for?  Is it a new house?  A new car?  Healing?  Salvation for your family?  What is it that you are believing Him for?

In my own life, I have a list of things that I have been believing Him for.  I have confessed the Word over them.  I have begged God for them.  I have commanded them to come.  And yet they haven’t shown up in my life.

I have been trying to make things happen in my life through my own efforts.

God has been dealing me with about trusting Him as my Source, but recently that call has been louder.  It has become “trust God in everything.”

For me, God usually aligns everything to tell me the same message.  Not only did He start speaking this to my spirit, but I would come into the room when a preacher would say “trust God for everything.”  Over and over, I heard the same message both in my spirit and through preaching.

I don’t know if you are like me, but I have trouble relinquishing control of the things around me.  I feel downright irresponsible if I don’t try to juggle everything in my sphere of influence.

You can imagine how I felt about trusting God in everything and for everything.  After all, I am not Smiths Wigglesworth and George Mueller who made this a lifestyle, but I made a decision to obey God.

In Proverbs 3:5, which says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; ” the word trust is the transliterated word, batach.  Batach means to have confidence, to be bold, to be secure.

In order to trust God, we have to be confident and secure in knowing that He will come through for us as He has promised us through Jesus’ finished work on the cross.  We have to know that His plans are never to harm us but to prosper us (Jeremiah 29:11).

As scary as it might seem to trust Someone else with the problems and concerns in our lives, if we ever want to live the God kind of life, then we have to trust Him in and for everything.

Even when you don’t understanding what He is doing in your life, learn to say, like I’m learning to, “Lord, I don’t know what you are doing, but I trust You.”

    Just Claim It

I saw the Supernanny re-run that aired on Wednesday.  In her conference with the parents, she said one interesting truth.

She told the parents, “Don’t fight for the position you already have.  Just claim it.”

She, of course, spoke of their position as the parents.  However this truth applies to us as Believers as well.

We are kings and priests (Revelation 1:6, Revelation 5:10).  Jesus gave us authority over this Earth (Luke 10:19).  We have the authority.  We have been given the position.

Instead we are begging and pleading with God to do what He has given us the authority to do.

We are trying to fight for our healing.  We are trying to fight for our prosperity.  We are trying to fight for the things God has already given us when Jesus cried, “It is finished” on the cross (John 19:30).

We need to claim what is already ours.

The word claim, according to the American Heritage® Dictionary, means to
demand, ask for, or take as one’s own or one’s due, to state to be true, especially when open to question; assert or maintain.

We have to take our rights in Christ as our own.  We don’t fight for our rights.  We already have them.  Instead we use the authority that we have as children of God to enforce those rights in our lives.

For example, let’s say a police person, who has a badge and the authority that goes with it, sees a car who is speeding.  When he pulls the driver over, he doesn’t beg and plead for the driver to stop speeding.  Instead he writes the driver a ticket.

We should be like that police officer and know what authority we have been given in Christ.  Then we need to enforce that authority in our lives and not settle for less than what God’s Word says we can have.

    The Complete Exchange

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. - Isaiah 53:4-5 (NKJV).

In this Scripture, it is clear that Isaiah is speaking of a future event, of Jesus’  crucifixion.  The only way he could know of this future event is if God told him.

This verse states that the chastisement for our peace was upon Him.

That word peace here is the transliterated Hebrew word Shalowm, which means  completeness, soundness, welfare, peace.  That includes safety, soundness (in body), welfare, health, prosperity, peace, quiet, tranquillity, contentment, friendship.

He took our punishment in His body on the cross, so that we can have completeness in our spirits, minds, bodies, finances and in our relationships.

He took our punishment and God’s wrath for our sins on Himself.  He took the effects of the curse on Himself.  He did it so we can exchange our sins, our sicknesses, our pain, our sorrow, our mental distress, our bad relationships and financial problems for completeness, for peace.

How wonderful is He that He did this for us?

Worry Isn't Just A Thinking Thing

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest - Matthew 11:28

I remember listening to Joel Osteen’s sister, April Simmons, and her husband on a Christian talk show years ago.  They knew that God wanted them to believe  for a piece of property for their church that Johnson and Johnson owned.

She made a statement that stayed with me.  She said that she doubted in her head, but she refused to speak it out.

It is when we speak out our doubts that we get into trouble.

Jesus says in Matthew 6:31, “So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’”

We worry when we say what we fear.

Jesus tells us to, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28).”

That word rest is the Greek transliterated word, anapauo.  What does that word mean?    It means to keep quiet, of calm and patient expectation.

I believe that we need to keep our mouths shut and not speak out those things that we fear.

Jesus charges us in Mark 11:23 that we can have what we say.  If we don’t want what we fear to come to pass, then we need to zip our lips.

Speak the Word of God only and the things in your life will begin to heal.

What Is Tattooed On Your Mind?

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. - Proverbs 23:7a (NKJV).

A man walked by a tattoo shop. He spotted the tattoo "Born To Lose" in the window. He wondered who would put that tattoo on their body. He decided to go inside. He asked the owner of the shop, "People buy this tattoo, ‘Born To Lose'?"

The owner, an Asian man who spoke broken English replied, "‘Born To Lose.' Yes, many people ask for ‘Born To Lose.'"

The man, perplexed, questioned the owner, "Why would people tattoo ‘Born To Lose' on their body?"

The owner answered, "Before ‘Born To Lose' tattooed on body, tattooed on mind."

What have you tattooed on your mind? Does your tattoo say "Born To Lose"? Does it say "Loser"? Does it say "Failure"? Does it say "Not Good Enough"? "Unloved"?

Whatever we have tattooed on our minds is what happens in our lives. We fulfill whatever that tattoo says.

Isn't it time to change the tattoo to what God says about you? That you are a king and a priest? That you are loved by God? That you are special? The apple of God's eye? That you are the head and not the tail? Above and not beneath.

Remember you will fulfill whatever is tattooed on your mind, so make it a good one. Tattoo what God says about you on your mind. Then what you already are in Christ will manifest in your life.

    What You Can't Yet See

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, - Ephesians 5:26 (KJV).

The other day I heard from a preacher say that thorns are actually dehydrated leaves.  He said that if one keeps their roses well-hydrated that the thorns can return to their original state.

If this is true, we are like those thorns.

Without enough feeding on the Word, we become a shriveled up stick that is only good for irritating people.

If, though, we saturate ourselves in the Word of God through Bible study, listening to solid, Biblical teaching and reading Bible-based books, we too can return to our original state.

We have to be washed in the Word, keeping it as the final authority in our lives.  When we receive a bad report, we should go to the Word.  What does the Word say about our problem?

Stand on the Word in your time of crisis because it is the only Report that will get you through any situation.  It is the only Report that will change what you see into what you can’t see yet.

    The Best Protection

By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel. - Hebrews 11:28 (NIV).

I remember hearing about this man who God told to plead the blood of Jesus over the spiritual door posts of his town.  When he did, the Tsunami of 2004 bypassed his town.

I recalled the story in the Bible of the first Passover.  God told the Israelites to kill a lamb and spread the blood of that lamb on their door posts.  What happened when they obeyed?  Their firstborn children didn't die.

The firstborn children of the households who didn't have the blood on their doors died.

Now Jesus is our Passover lamb.  His blood was shed for us.  Instead of pleading the blood of a lamb on our door posts, we can plead the blood of Jesus over our spiritual door posts, our family members, our things.  And Jesus' blood will protect whatever we plead it over.

I plead it over my doors, my windows, my body, the car...anything I want God to protect.  My mom's friend has even pleaded the blood of a guinea pig during a black-out.

Plead the blood of Jesus.  It is the best protection you will ever have.

    How Do Blessings Come?

Grace. What is the definition of grace? Some call it unmerited favor. Some call it God doing through you what you cannot do through yourself, but the truth is that grace is not an it. Grace is a Person. Grace is Jesus. Jesus is Grace.

Jesus died for us. He didn't have to be mocked, beaten, spit upon and nailed to a cross, but He did. He didn't have to take the full punishment of our sins on the cross, but He did. Why? Because He loves us. He took our place because He loves us.

He knew that we couldn't do anything right on our own.. That's why His shed blood puts us in right standing with God.

Not only does His shed blood make us righteous. It cleanses us, sanctifies us, justifies us, protects us and makes every spiritual and physical blessing ours for the taking.

In other religions, it is good works that earn us our blessings. With God, though, our good works, our righteousness, are as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6).

We cannot earn our blessings through our good works. They are gifts through the shed blood of Jesus.

When Jesus cried, "It is finished," He meant everything we would ever need or want had been taken care of at the cross. Everything. Without exception. Even those problems we created by our own doing.

    Now that's grace.

    What Do You See?

But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our message? - Romans 10:16 (NIV).

These days I hear some  (not all of them) ministers who report the news of the bad economy, the war in the Iraq, the oil crisis as if they were a part of the secular media.  They seem to accept the bad report that media has given us.

Never do I hear these ministers saying, “This is what is happening, but this is what the Lord says...”

It’s like the spies that Moses sent into the land of Canaan.  Only two spies believed the report of the Lord over what they saw with their natural eyes.  The others believed what their natural eyes told them.

Which are you?  Are you a Joshua and Caleb who saw things from God’s perspective?  Or are you like the other spies who accepted what they saw in the natural?

We all need to take what we see in the natural and compare it with the promises of God.  If it doesn’t line up, then we choose to believe God’s report over what we see with our physical eyes.

When we do, the outward circumstances will eventually line up with the Truth of the Word of God.

Do You Want To Use A Lifeline?

For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. - Proverbs 4:22 (NKJV).

This Scripture is referring to the Words of God.  They are life to those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

I remember many times when I suffered with stomach viruses, sinus problems and other illnesses.   I suffered, quoting the Word, if I remembered.

However, when I finally put on my Healing Scriptures CD by Kenneth Hagin, the symptoms seemed to disappear more rapidly.

I also had trouble walking at one time because I have high arches.  I would quote Isaiah 40:31,  But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint., in order to walk any distance.  And the moment I did, my walking improved.  Now I walk with no trouble at all.

God taught me to pray a prayer over my things and loved ones long time ago.  One day, some friends came over to our place.  As soon as they walked in, they smelled gas.  It turned out we had been living with a gas leak for a long time and didn’t know it.  Neither were we harmed.

For me, there is no question that the Word of God, whether it be the written Word in the Bible or out of His mouth, works!   Use it for yourself and watch how it will your lifeline in times of trouble.

Is Your Money In A Fish?

"Then the sons are exempt," Jesus said to him. "But so that we may not offend them, go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four_drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours." - Matthew 17:27 (NIV)

Jesus paid the taxes of him and Peter with a coin in a fish’s mouth.

How many of us actually expect God to do this for us?

When we ask Him to meet our financial needs, we expect someone to come to the door with a check for us.  Maybe we expect money to come in the mail.  We expect God to meet our need in a natural way.

According to the Bible, though, Jesus didn’t do things naturally.  No, He took water and turned it into wine.  He took mud and put on a blind man’s eyes.  He walked on the water.

If Jesus didn’t do things naturally in the Bible, what makes us think He will always do things naturally now?

Expect God to do the unexpected in your life today!

Are You Having A Crisis Of Confidence?

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. - I John 5:14-15 (KJV).

Yesterday I listened to the 700 Club, and a financial expert talked about how we are having a "crisis of confidence" in our economy.

I thought to myself, "That's what a lack of faith is.  A crisis of confidence."

Faith is the confidence that something is going to happen.

We can either have confidence that the Word of God is going to change our situation.  Or we can have confidence that things are going to get worse.

We are all going through a "crisis of confidence."  What will we believe?

Will we have confidence in what God says?  That we are healed, saved and delivered?  Even when things look bleak?

Or will we have confidence in our circumstances?  Our bills piling up?  Our pains and aches?

Choose to have confidence in God and His Word over what you see with your natural eyes.

Though the storms rage around you, remember to keep your eyes on Jesus and put your confidence in Him and His finished work on the cross.

    How Much More?

And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: - Hebrews 11:39 (KJV).

For the longest time, I didn't "get" this verse.

I didn't understand why God would say that the heroes of faith didn't obtain the promise when obviously Abraham and Sarah obtained their promised son, Isaac.

Now I don't believe that God is referring to their individual promises.

I believe He was referring to the promise of Jesus, our better Covenant.  Jesus didn't come to Earth during their lifetime.

God had to count them as righteous, looking forward in time to what Jesus would do on the Cross for them.

They had confidence in God (faith) to obtain their individual promises under the Old Covenant of Law.

How much should more we, now that we have the New Covenant of Grace through the shed blood of Jesus, be able to have confidence in God?  How much more should we obtain the things God has promised us?

    Forever Settled!

Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven. - Psalm 119:89  (NKJV).

God’s Word is forever settled in Heaven. The Bible tells us in the Amplified version of the Bible, “Your will be done --held hold and revered—on earth as it is in heaven (Luke 11:2).

What is God’s will in heaven? No sickness. No pain. No sorrow. No poverty. No condemnation.

That is His will on Earth too.

How many of you have spoke the Word, prayed, thanked God, praised Him, and yet the deadline for your miracle still passed without a word or action on God’s part?

Many times we just decide that God must not be in the miracle business any more...or at least not for us.

No, God’s Word, His promises, are forever settled in Heaven.  They are ours through the shed blood of Jesus, but we do everything but the one thing that is necessary for our blessings to flow.

We don’t guard our hearts (John 14:27). The blessings are flowing to us all the time because of the shed blood of Jesus. It is like water flowing through a hose.

If we clamp down on the middle of the hose with our hands, we restrict the water. Is the water still flowing?
Yes, but we are restricting it from flowing to us.

That is what allowing ourselves to be troubled, afraid, agitated, disturbed, fearful, intimated, cowardly and unsettled does to our blessing flow. The blessings are flowing, but we are restricting them by not guarding our heart.

Next time you have a problem and are tempted to worry, quote John 14:27, “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

    Lord, I Need Help!

Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. - Psalm 63:7 (NIV).

    The Lord is our help.

Have you ever heard the old saying, "God helps those who help themselves"?

I dare you to find it in the Bible because it isn't there.

In fact, God helps those who recognize that they are too weak, too incapable, too worry-ridden, to handle the problems in their lives.  God helps those who need Him.

Most of us try to do it on our own, especially if we are at fault, but God wants us to hand all our problems over to Him and let Him handle them.

We need to let go of our problems, release them to God and recognize that we can do nothing without Him.

    Blacked-Out Goggles

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. - Hebrews 12:2 (NIV).

The other day I listened to an Olympic swimmer who is forty-one and has qualified to return to the Olympics.

When asked why she thought she beat out people decades younger than her, she, of course, cited her work-out routine and diet..

I heard her say something interesting.  Early on, one of her coaches blacked out the sides of her goggles, so she couldn't see the other swimmers.  She could only focus on her own performance.

As Believers, we need to blackout the sides of our spiritual goggles as well.  Then we will not pay attention to Sally next door's walk with God or our Aunt Maddy's two towns over.

We must focus on Jesus and Him alone because He is the only One who died for our sins and finished the work of redemption, healing, salvation, deliverance and total life prosperity on the cross.

Keep your eyes focused on Him and the finished work of the cross, and you will win the race every time.

    Receive First, Then Give

God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."  - Genesis 1:28

We are to be fruitful and multiply.

We must receive from God--His love, His mercy, His grace,  His blessings--before we can be fruitful and be a blessing on this Earth.

Do you remember the story about how Jesus wanted to wash Peter's feet (John 13)?  Peter refused.

"Jesus answered, ‘Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.’" (John 13:8).

Peter had to receive from Jesus before he could do great works for the Lord.

What about Jacob?  On his way to Laban's house, he told the Lord, "If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear so that I return safely to my father's house, then the LORD will be my God and this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God's house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth" (Genesis 28:20-22).

Jacob received from the Lord, then gave back to Him ten percent.  Not out of obligation.  Out of love.

We must receive from God, so we can give to others and God out of abundance.  Not out of obligation.  Out of love.

Jesus is happy when we receive all He died to give us.

Would You Lay Down Your Life?

For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. - Romans 5:7 (KJV).

Would you lay down your life for another?  For your spouse?  Your kids?  Your best friend?  Maybe a sibling?  Or parent?  How about a perfect stranger?

A perfect Stranger went to the Cross and willingly laid down His life for us.  We didn't know Him.  We weren't even born yet.  He went nevertheless for every murderer, for every liar, for every thief, for every self-righteous person and every one in between.

Now if He willingly laid down His life so we might live, why are most of us just waiting to die?  Why aren't we living the abundant life that He promised us?

Why aren't we fulfilling our purpose?  Helping others?  Being all God called us to be?

    The Roadmap To Your Life

Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.  - Genesis 17:5 (KJV).

When my mother went into labor with me, she had toxemia.  She had convulsions on the delivery table.  My Mom and I almost died.

In the quietness of her hospital room, after the delivery, she heard God speak to her as clear as day.  He said, "Her name is Annagail."

I believe that our names are a roadmap for our lives.  A roadmap to who we are supposed to be.

In my name, for instance, Anna means Grace, Gracious, Mericiful and Gail means Joy Of The Father, My father’s joy.

When God changed Abram's name to Abraham, He changed the direction of Abraham's life.

Now he was Abraham--father of many nations.

Every time his friends and family called him Abraham, they were calling him the father of many nations.

The more he heard his name and the more he spoke his name, the more he believed that he was the father of many nations.  He could then see it in his heart.

Whatever the dream we have from God, we need to speak it until we believe it.  Speak it until we see it in our hearts.  Then like Abraham, we will receive what God promised us.

    God Owns It All

The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; - Psalm 24:1 (NIV).

Two weeks ago, a friend of mine reminded of this Scripture: The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world and all who live in it!

We sometimes forget that we don't own this earth or the things or people in it.  God does.

He cares for everything and everyone on the Earth.  The sparrows.  The fish.  Even the creeping things.  And of course, us.

What concerns us, concerns Him.  Just like the birds, fish and creeping things, we are to trust Him with every aspect of our lives.

God's will is never to harm us and is always best for us.  His plans are always far larger than we can imagine or think.

Let's spend time in God's presence, just letting Him love on us, trusting to meet our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

    We Have A Guarantee!

But Abram said, "O Sovereign LORD, how can I know that I will gain possession of it?"  - Genesis 15:8 (NIV).

How many of us are like Abraham?  How many of us want a guarantee that we will gain possession of the promises?

We do have a guarantee!  Jesus' death on the Cross.  His shed blood is our guarantee that we will receive all that God promises us in His Word.

All we have to do is believe it.  When we believe it, we speak it.  Then we receive it.

Jesus' blood is our guarantee that we will receive if we just believe in Jesus and His blood.

    Simple Or Difficult?

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.- 2 Corinthians 11:3 (KJV).

Paul feared in this Scripture that the devil had deceived the early church as he did Eve.  Paul feared that they might move away from the simplicity that is in Christ.

Just like the early church, in my opinion, we have moved away from the simplicity that is in Christ.

We are now taught that we must earn our blessings, that we need to be "perfect" in our attitudes, our thinking and our actions to be blessed.

All of which negates what Jesus did at the cross.

Jesus met the conditions for every  promise.  He did all the work for us.

When we try to work to earn our blessings, we are not living under the grace of the New Covenant.

According to Romans 10:9-10, we receive Christ by speaking and believing.  It is the same principle for everything else in the Christian walk.  We receive by speaking and believing.

Remember if it is a struggle, then it is not grace.

Receive all that God has for you by faith, so you can be a blessing to others.  You can't give what you have not received.

    Where Did You Leave It?

I replied, “But my work seems so useless! I have spent my strength for nothing and to no purpose. Yet I leave it all in the Lord’s hand; I will trust God for my reward.”  - Isaiah 49:4 (NLT).

Last night, all of a sudden, I heard thunder, then I saw the flashes of lightening.

A few minutes afterward, the downpour of rain flooded the sidewalks, yards and streets.  The first storm of the summer had arrived with a vengeance.

The lights kept going on and off several times before they went off completely .

In July, with the heat as hot as it is in Phoenix, I hated the thought of spending a whole night without fans or air conditioning.  I am spoiled that way.

In the middle of the two hour wait for them to come back on, I heard God speak to my spirit, "What can you do about the lights?  Can you climb the pole and fix them yourself?"

    Of course not.

Then He said something to the effect of, "You cannot fix the other problems in your life either.  All you can do is rest."

I always want to be doing something about my problems because that is what I have been taught to do.

Our works, though, are usually useless and tire us out in the process.

It is more effective to leave the problems in God's hands and rest in His promises that He will take care of us and never let us be moved.

    When I Can’t, You Can

I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.  - John 5:30 (KJV).

By myself I can do nothing.  Just like Jesus, we cannot do anything on our own.

Isaiah 64:6 tells us that our righteous, our works, are as filthy rags.

As a kid, whenever something appeared to difficult, I would say "I can't."

My Mom would counter with, "Can't never could do anything."

However, over the years, I learned that "I can't, but You can, Lord" is the best phrase to use when approaching God.

You are essentially saying, "This is too big for me to handle, but I know You are big enough to handle it, Lord."

When we surrender our problems to Him and let not our hearts be troubled over it (John 14:27), we will see God work miracles on our behalf  We will see the salvation of the Lord (Exodus 14:13).

    Will You Rejoice?

The ransomed of the LORD will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away. - Isaiah 51:11 (NIV).

We were the ransomed of the Lord.  The devil held us as hostages after Adam and Ever sinned.

Jesus went to the cross and paid our ransom, so that we can sing, shout and have everlasting joy.

It is when we rejoice at what Jesus has done for us, even in the midst of trials like Paul and Silas did in the jail, that our sorrow is replaced with gladness and joy.

We must learn to rejoice in the middle of our trials that it is finished.  Jesus finished the work at the cross.

Christ paid for it all--our sins, our sicknesses, our poverty, our sorrow, our pain and so much more.

To try to get God to give us what He already paid for us to have is like saying Jesus' sacrifice for us was not enough, and it was.

It was a complete sacrifice.  A perfect sacrifice.  The only sacrifice we will ever need.

    Is He Real To You?

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, - I Peter 1:8 (NIV).

Many unbelievers cannot understand how we can believe in a God we do not see.  Although no one in this generation has seen Allah, Mohammed or Gandhi either in the flesh.

I may not have seen God, but I know Him, and I learn more from Him every day.  Not about Him.  From Him.

I have experienced His love, His mercy, His grace.  I have heard Him speak to me.  I have seen things He has told me come to pass.

Have you experience Him?  Do you want to?  Then ask Him to make Himself real to you today.
