Just a simple place for me to put a scripture or two. My plan is to have one here a week or so. I was trying to do one a day, but think I need to go slower. Maybe I'll comment, maybe you will...

Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. (1 Corinthians 11:1)

Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. (Acts 17:11)

Test everything. Hold on to the good. (1 Thessalonians 5:21)

Examine what I say, challenge me if I seem wrong, rebuke me if I am way off the mark...

    Ephesians 1:10 (NLT)

10 And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth.

    Luke 22:36-38, 49-52 (AMP)

36Then He said to them, But now let him who has a purse take it, and also [his provision] bag; and let him who has no sword sell his mantle and buy a sword.

37for I tell you that this Scripture must yet be fulfilled in Me: And He was counted and classed among the wicked (the outlaws, the criminals); for what is written about Me has its fulfillment [has reached its end and is finally settled].

38And they said, Look, Lord! Here are two swords. And He said to them, It is enough.

49And when those who were around Him saw what was about to happen, they said, Lord, shall we strike with the sword?

50And one of them struck the bond servant of the high priest and cut off his ear, the right one.

51But Jesus said, Permit them to go so far [as to seize Me]. And He touched the little (insignificant) ear and healed him.

52Then Jesus said to those who had come out against Him--the chief priests and captains of the temple and elders [of the Sanhedrin]--Have you come out with swords and clubs as [you would] against a robber?

    2 Peter 1:5-9 (AMP)

5For this very reason, adding your diligence [to the divine promises], employ every effort in exercising your faith to develop virtue (excellence, resolution, Christian energy), and in [exercising] virtue [develop] knowledge (intelligence),

6And in [exercising] knowledge [develop] self-control, and in [exercising] self-control [develop] steadfastness (patience, endurance), and in [exercising] steadfastness [develop] godliness (piety),

7And in [exercising] godliness [develop] brotherly affection, and in [exercising] brotherly affection [develop] Christian love.

8For as these qualities are yours and increasingly abound in you, they will keep [you] from being idle or unfruitful unto the [full personal] knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

9For whoever lacks these qualities is blind, [spiritually] shortsighted, seeing only what is near to him, and has become oblivious [to the fact] that he was cleansed from his old sins.

    That Scripture I promised...

28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

    Romans 8:28 (NLT)

Grab this promise and hold onto it.  Sometimes, it is the only thing that allows you to continue when you think you have made a mistake...

(and yes, I am not sleeping like I should...)

    In Christ,

    Mel

I am not sure for my own writing yet, but I understand this from Paul...

    2 Corinthians 7:8 (Young's Literal Translation)

8because even if I made you sorry in the letter, I do not repent -- if even I did repent -- for I perceive that the letter, even if for an hour, did make you sorry.

I don't know that I should think this way about my own writings of late.  I am not convinced that I said what is wrong, but I think my way of expressing it may have been less than the perfection asked (not demanded!) by Christ's Love.  The person who seems to have taken it the most harshly (at least as far as I can know) was not even the one deserving of the message directly as I could see it.  It would be fair to say that no-one personally deserved the message.  I truly meant it in a more general way as it expressed a boil I see festering below the skin of the whole body.  One phrase may have set me off, but does not mean that I hold the one who said it in ill will.  No, I have examined that quite thoroughly and can say there is nothing for them to ask me to forgive or for me to forgive in this, although they can still ask and I can express the forgiveness that was already given.  If there is forgiveness that is needed, I am the one needing it.  I am still struggling with what exactly I need to ask for, but I think I  would have done better to suffer more loss of petty sleep and not let my anger breath.  My anger.  Where I expressed what God would say, I offer no such qualification, but what I expressed and what he would have had me express are two different things.  I missed the mark, even if only in the attitude in which I expressed myself.  However, there is still another scripture that comes to my mind at this point.   I'll share that later as I have not the time to do so now...

    In Truth,

    Mel
