AFTER THEIR CRUEL TREATMENT BY THE EGYPTIANS, HOW DID GOD SHOW HIS FAVOR TO THE ISRAELITES?

After you have read this post, please view my videos on GOD TUBE and YOU TUBE. They are very short and to the point. They will be a blessing to you.

We read about the order that Pharaoh gave to his men concerning the Israelites. You are no longer to supply the people with straw for making bricks; let them go and gather their own straw. But require them to make the same number of bricks as before; don’t reduce the quota. They are lazy; that is why they are crying out, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to our God.’ Make the work harder for the men so that they keep working and pay no attention to lies (Exod. 5: 7-9).

The LORD informed Moses that after the plague of darkness He would bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on the Egyptians. After the plague on the “firstborn”, Pharaoh will let the Israelites go. When he does, Pharaoh will drive them out completely.

God instructed Moses to tell the men and women among the Israelites to ask their neighbors for articles of silver and gold. The Lord made the Egyptians favorably disposed toward the people, and Moses himself was highly regarded in Egypt by Pharaoh’s  officials and by the people (Exod. 11: 3).

The Egyptians gave the Israelites what they asked for.

We read in the Book of Psalms, He (the LORD) brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold, and from among their tribes no one faltered. Egypt was glad when they left, because dread of Israel had fallen on them. He (God) spread out a cloud as a covering, and a fire to give light at night. They asked, and he brought them quail and satisfied them with the bread of heaven. He opened the rock, and water gushed out; like a river it flowed in the desert. For he remembered his holy promise given to his servant Abraham. He brought out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy; he gave them the lands of the nations, and they fell heir to what others had toiled  for – that they might keep his precepts and observe his laws (Ps. 105: 37-45).

As a believer, what can you learn from this lesson? King David wrote about God’s faithfulness, You have been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble (Psalm 59: 16).

When He leads through some valley of trouble,

                               His omnipotent hand we trace;

For the trials and sorrows He sends us

Are part of His lessons in grace. – Anon

In every desert of trial, God has an oasis of comfort.

HOW DID GOD DEMONSTRATE HIS POWER IN THE LIVES OF THE ISRAELITES?

After you have read this post, please view my videos on GOD TUBE and YOU TUBE. They are very short and to the point. They will be a blessing to you.

After the plagues of blood and frogs Pharaoh’s heart was still unyielding so God through Moses and Aaron  sent the plague of flies. The flies affected only the Egyptians.

God instructed Moses to say to Pharaoh, If you do not let my people go, I will send swarms of flies on you and your officials, on your people and into your houses. The houses of the Egyptians will be full of flies, and even the ground where they are. But on that day I will deal differently with the land of Goshen, where my people live; no swarms of flies will be there, so that you will know that I, the LORD, am in this land. I will make a distinction between my people and your people. This miraculous sign will occur tomorrow (Exod. 8: 21-23).

Despite the plague of flies Pharaoh’s heart was still hard. So God sent a plague on the livestock of the Egyptians. Moses said to Pharaoh, This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘Let my people go, so that they may worship me.’ If you refuse to let them go and continue to hold them back, the hand of the LORD will bring a terrible plague on your livestock in the field – on your horses and donkeys and camels and on your cattle and sheep and goats. But the LORD will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and that of Egypt, so that no animal belonging to the Israelites will die (Exod. 9: 1-4).

The LORD did as he had promised. All the livestock of the Egyptians died, but not one animal belonging to the Israelites died.

God sent another plague on the Egyptians – the plague of boils. Festering boils broke out on people and animals.

Pharaoh’s heart was still unyielding so God sent the plague of hail. The hail affected everything outdoors people, animals and crops. But the hail did not affect the land of Goshen where the Israelites were living.

God sent yet another plague – the plague of locusts. The locusts devoured all that was left after the hail. Nothing green remained on tree or plant.

After the plague of  locusts, God sent the plague of darkness. Total darkness covered all of Egypt for three days. No one was able to see anything or go outside for three days. But the Israelites were not affected by darkness where they lived in Goshen.

It was necessary for God to send one more plague because of Pharaoh’s stubbornness. The plague on the firstborn. The firstborn son of all the Egyptians died as well as the firstborn cattle. The Israelites were safe.

Pharaoh was now ready to let the Israelites go. The exodus became a reality.

Why did God allow Pharaoh to reject the call to set the Israelites free for such a long time?

In the Book of Isaiah the LORD declares, As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts (Isa. 55: 9).

GOD WILL ACCOMPLISH ALL OF HIS PLANS (Job 42: 2). TRUST IN GOD.

HOW WERE PHARAOH’S MAGICIANS EMPOWERED BY SATAN?

After you have read this post, please view my videos on GOD TUBE and YOU TUBE. They are very short and to the point. They will be a blessing to you.

God is omnipotent. Satan is powerful but he is not omnipotent. He can display his power in and through the lives of his servants but only what God allows. Satan can go no further.

In order to demonstrate God’s power to Pharaoh, Moses struck the water of the Nile with his stsff and the water was changed into blood. The Egyptian magicians were able to do the same by their secret arts.

Moses instructed Aaron to stretch out his hand over the waters of Egypt and frogs came up on the land of Egypt. But the magicians did the same thing by their secret arts.

Moses instructed Aaron to stretch out his staff and strike the dust of the ground and throughout Egypt the dust will become gnats (small insects, the female of which has a blood-sucking sting). But when the magicians tried to produce gnats by their secret arts, they could not.

The magicians said to Pharaoh, This is the finger of God (Exod. 8: 19).

As believers, we should not be alarmed when unfortunate things happen. We should put our full trust in God. God has all power and all authority. He is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. Satan cannot thwart the plans of God.

HOW DID GOD MANIFEST HIS POWER IN THE SIGNS THAT HE GAVE TO MOSES?

When Moses questioned God about his credibility before Pharaoh , God gave him signs to strengthem him.

    1)      The Lord had Moses throw his staff on the ground and it became a snake.

    2)      The Lord had him take the snake by the tail and it turned back into his staff.

    3)      The Lord instructed Moses to put his hand inside his cloak. When Moses took out his hand it was leprous.

    4)      The Lord asked Moses to put his hand into his cloak again. When Moses took out his hand it was normal. The leprosy had gone.

The LORD informed Moses of an additional sign that he would give him when in Egypt if Pharaoh and his officials did not believe in the signs mentioned above.

The additional sign was by taking some water from the Nile and pouring it on dry ground. “The water you take from the river will become blood on the ground” ((Exod. 4: 9).

HAS GOD MANIFESTED HIS POWER IN YOUR LIFE? Perhaps God has a miracle for you today. Trust in HIM.

HOW DID PHARAOH RESPOND TO MOSES’ REQUEST TO LET THE ISRAELITES GO?

Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘Let my people go, so that they may hold a festival to me in the desert.’ “

Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD and I will not let Israel go.

Moses and Aaron continued to speak with Pharaoh and their conversation caused him to make a decision that was a burden to the Israelites. Pharaoh gave the following order to his slave drivers and foremen who were in charge of the Israelites.

“You are no longer to supply the people with straw for making bricks; let them go and gather their own straw. But require them to make the same number of bricks as before; don’t reduce the quota. They are lazy; that is why they are crying out, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to our God.’ “

Pharaoh continued, “Make the work harder for the men so that they keep working and pay no attention to lies.”

We learn from this account that although it was God’s plan to free the Israelites from Pharaoh’s oppression God designed the process in such a way that Pharaoh would refuse at first. God had said to Moses while he was still in Midian that He would harden Pharaoh’s heart. “But I will harden his heart so that he will not let the people go” (Exod. 4: 21b).

Why do you think God hardened Pharaoh’s heart although He wanted the Israelites to get out of Egypt?

God instructed Moses to assemble the elders of Israel and inform them that He has promised to free them from their misery and take them out of Egypt into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites – into a land that is flowing with milk and honey.

God assured Moses that the elders will listen to him. Take the elders to the King of Egypt and say to him, “The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Let us take a three-day journey into the desert to offer sacrifices to the Lord our God” (Exod. 3: 18).

God informed Moses that the king of Egypt will refuse unless a mighty hand compels him. God said, “So I will stretch out my hand and strike the Egyptians with all the wonders that I will perform among them. After that, he will let you go” (Exod. 3: 20).

One day as Moses was looking after the flock of his father-in-law he went to Horeb. “There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush” (Exod. 3: 2). Although the bush was on fire it did not burn up. Moses went up to the bush to investigate.

When the Lord saw that Moses had gone up to the bush, he called out to him from within the bush, “Moses, Moses! (Exod. 3: 4).

God instructed Moses that he should not go up any closer. Moses was told to take off his sandals because he was standing on holy ground. When God said to Moses that he was the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Moses hid his face because he was afraid to look at God.

God told Moses that he was concerned about the suffering of the Israelites in Egypt. So He was sending him to Pharaoh to bring the Israelites out of Egypt. Moses objected and this displeased God. But God promised to be with him and to assist him. God gave Aaron, the brother of Moses, to be a spokesman for him.

Moses finally accepted God's call to bring the Israelites out of Egypt. God performed many miracles through Moses during the process.

God had a plan for the Israelites. God had a plan for Moses. God had a plan for Aaron. God has a plan for you.

Job said concerning God, "I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted" (Job 42; 2).

PLEASE ALLOW GOD'S WILL TO BE ACCOMPLISHED IN YOUR LIFE  (Prov. 3: 5-6).

WHAT CIRCUMSTANCES LED TO MOSES BECOMING THE SON-IN-LAW OF REUEL (JETHRO)?

When Moses entered the land of Midian he was exhausted and sat down by a well. As he sat there, the seven daughters of Reuel, a priest of Midian, went out to draw water to water their father’s animals. Some shepherds in the vicinity came along and drove the girls away. But Moses rescued them and watered their flock.

When the girls returned home, their father inquired what caused them to get home so early. They replied, An Egyptian rescued us from the shepherds. He even drew water for us and watered the flock (Exod. 2: 19).

Their father asked them to invite the stranger to have something to eat.

Moses accepted their invitation. He stayed with them and he became the husband of one of the daughters, Zipporah.

Moses was helpful to the daughters of Reuel (Jethro). Perhaps this act of kindness was a part of God’s plan for Moses. Because it was here that God called him. KINDNESS IS ONE OF THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT. Be kind to one another.

When Moses was a young man, he went out where the Israelites were working. He observed them at their almost impossible task of making bricks and other activities. He saw an Egyptian beating an Israelite (Hebrew), one of his own people.

Looking around and seeing no one, he killed the Egyptian and covered him over in the sand.

The following day as he went out he saw two Israelites (Hebrews) fighting. He asked one of them ( “the one in the wrong”) , Why are you hitting your fellow Hebrew? Perhaps Moses was shocked at his response. He said, Who made you ruler and judge over us? Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian  (Exod. 2: 14).

Moses was afraid and reasoned, What I did must have become known (Exod. 2: 14). When Pharaoh heard about what had happened, he tried to kill Moses. But Moses fled Egypt and went to Midian.

As believers, we have to be on our guard. Although there may be no one in view, please remember that God has a constant look at us. May our behavior please Him.

We recall that Pharaoh ordered his people to kill all the Hebrew boys who were born in Egypt (Exod. 1: 22).

When Moses was born his mother hid him for three months. But when she was not able to hide him any longer, she designed a plan. She coated a papyrus basket with tar and pitch. She placed Moses in the basket and put it among the reeds in the Nile close to the bank.

Miriam, the sister of Moses, kept watch to see what would happen to him. Pharaoh’s daughter saw the basket and sent her servant to get it. She opened the basket and discovered that the baby was Hebrew. He was crying so she felt sorry for him.

Miriam asked Pharaoh’s daughter if she could get a Hebrew woman to nurse the baby for her. She agreed so Miriam went home and brought her mother to Pharaoh’s daughter.

Pharaoh’s daughter said to the mother of Moses, “Take this baby and nurse him for me, and I will pay you” (Exod. 2: 9). When Moses grew older his mother took him to Pharaoh’s daughter. The king’s daughter adopted the child and named him Moses because he was drawn out of the water.

After Jacob and his family moved to Egypt because of a severe famine in the land of Canaan, their numbers grew rapidly. In Pharaoh’s words they became “much too numerous.”  Fearful that they would become even more numerous and join the enemies of Egypt in the event of war, Pharaoh decided to deal cleverly with them.

So the Egyptians appointed slave masters over them to oppress them with forced labor. But the more that they were oppressed, the larger their numbers became. The result was that the Egyptians began to be very fearful of the Israelites and worked them mercilessly. Life was very bitter for the Israelites making bricks and motar and all sorts of work in the fields.

The midwives of the Israelites were instructed by Pharaoh to kill all boys at birth. Girls were kept alive. The midwives, however, feared God and permitted the boys to live.

When Pharaoh inquired of the midwives the reason for allowing the boys to live, they had an excellent excuse. Because of the midwives behavior, the Israelites became even more numerous.

Finally Pharaoh gave an order to all the people of Egypt. He said to them, “Every boy that is born you must throw into the river, but let every girl live” (Exod. 1: 22).

WHERE IN THE BIBLE DOES IT TEACH  THAT GOD IS MORE THAN ONE PERSON?

    1) Then God said, Let us make man in our image, in our likeness (Gen. 1: 26).

    2) The Lord said, If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other (Gen. 11: 6-7).

    3) Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send? And who will go for us (Isa. 6: 8).

The above Scriptures prove that Islam and Judaism are false. They teach monotheism (one God – singular). God is shown to be more than one.
