Counterfeits

The other day we had a counterfeit bill passed at the cafeteria. I had never seen a counterfeit bill before, so the manager showed it to me next to a real bill. They were very similar. The bogus bill even passed the pen test which showed it was printed on real linen paper. However the watermark on the bill was wrong. If you held it up to the light you could see the incorrect image. Later the police told me that the bill was a smaller denomination that had been "washed" and reprinted. The security thread in the bill gave it away. It was actually a 5 not what it apeared to be.
You know there are a lot of spiritual counterfeits around too. You have to "Hold them up to the Light" to see if they are true. If they are true they should have the watermark of Jesus Christ, and the security thread of the gospel of faith.
If someone holds your life up to the light what's Your "Watermark" going to be?

INSPECTORS
This past week the CMS inspectors were at the hospital where I work. They questioned staff, visitors, and patients, and generally made pests of themselves. On top of that the state fire martial was also making a visit. I was thinking as I walked down the hall, It's all so silly! They tell us when they are coming, and we clean up till they are gone. What they need to do is do a suprise inspection to find out what things are really like. In the spiritual realm however, we have an inspector who is always on duty, and we can't hide anything from Him!

What I'm Learning With My Dog

We have a routine around the house that whenever we let Smokey out he always gets a treat when he comes back inside. Sometimes I just give it to him, but often I make him do a trick for it. This morning I let him in and had him sit. I wanted to have him lay down next, but when I said "down" he lay down and immediately rolled over and did a belly up. I told him no, and had him sit again, and had him shake hands instead. While he ran off to gulp down his treat I said to him, "Smokey, you have to learn to do what I want you to do, not what you want to do!"
Insert big pause here...
I realized that the same thing is true with our relationship with God. We go out in the world and come in to His house and expect a "treat". We go through our routine and expect to be blessed, but are we doing what God wants us to do?
Hsa 6:6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.
Mic 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
