1% vs 99%
The other night as I was driving around in the security patrol car, I found that old satan had sent some of his buddies to bring sad thoughts to mind. I found myself dwelling on Smokey's death. Then I thought, "Wait a minute! We had Smokey almost 9 years, why am I dwelling on the 2 months when Smokey was sick??????????
When I had a chance to sit down at a desk I figured it out (I don't do math in my head!). We got Smokey at 7 months old. We had him 9 years and 1 month. 9 years = 3240 days. Smokey lived almost 2 months after he was diagnosed with cancer = 60 days. now 60 divided by 3240 = .01, or 1% of the time Smokey was with us!
Now I can't believe I'm the only one who has had this happen to them. I just want to know why do we let it happen???????? Let 1% dominate the 99%??????
I have also noticed this happens most when I am 1) Tired, or 2) My mind is idle. It's so true what the Bible says, "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." and this almost proverb "An idle mind is the devil's playground."
It's not just losing a loved one, it's when things go wrong. We focus on the wrong and not the right. Oh that we had a right focus, and that we would keep our accounts short with God, that we would go to Him first and not last.
