It Depends On Which Way You Are Looking
Tonight during my patrols I was watching the sunset off and on. I noticed that toward the West the colors were all bright pinks and oranges, bright and cheery. If I looked toward the East the clouds were mostly dark purples and blues, dark and depressing in comparison. I thought how fitting that we as Christians should be looking toward the SON, not away. The world is certainly a more beautiful place in His light, the light of the world!
John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

Dried Flowers
Ok, how many of you have dried flowers in a vase somewhere in your house? Perhaps they are gathering dust on a shelf or windowsill. In any case, while they are nice and even artsy, they are nothing like the real living wildflowers. They are dead, and dry, and cut off from their roots. Kind of like some Christians we might know. I think it’s because of the same reason; Being cut off from the root, in our case Jesus Christ. Many people keep their Christianity in a vase on a shelf, dried up and dead, a mere decoration, instead of a living relationship. Which one are you? Are you a dried up flower in a decorative vase, or a vibrant living plant growing to the glory of God?
Psalm 1:1-3 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree {firmly} planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf.

Why Weeds are like Romans 8:28
Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to {His} purpose.
Now we can all agree that weeds are bad right? They clog our gardens, lawns and fencerows. This all started when I was thinking about a common weed in bloom now, chickory. It grows all over the US, but was originally brought over from europe. It seems you can use the root of this weed after drying and grinding, as a coffee substitute. See you take the bad weed, apply some heat and voila! something good. I have used another weed in salads; Milkweed. You boil the flowers, young seed pods or young leaves in a change of water and they are ready to eat. The boiling destroys the latex in the sap. (Note; the latex is what makes the monarch butterflies unpalatable to birds.) Now God does the same thing in us. He takes something bad and through circumstances adds "heat" and voila! something good comes about. Sure this is an oversimplification, but for me it was another way of looking at how God works in our lives.

Thoughts About Communion
As
I was sitting at the guard desk at work I got to thinking over my previous post
about communion. I began asking myself questions like "Who invented those
tiny cups?" I know it's not very spiritual but it made me think further.
Those
"tiny cups" represent the only dose of Jesus, the Church, and
Christianity that many people have. The original communion was part of a
fellowship meal. In fact the word translated “communion” is often translated
“fellowship”. It’s the Greek word koinonia. There was more than a "tiny
cup" and a "cracker". It was part of life, part of the every day
practice of the believer. We however, have isolated communion to a once a
quarter event at church. We have taken "communion" with God and
Christ out of our daily lives and reduced it to a "cracker" and a
"tiny cup". To
borrow a phrase “Don’t take a thimbleful of ocean.”
John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life:
he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall
never thirst.
1Cor. 10:16-17 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the
communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the
communion of the body of Christ? 17
For we [being] many are one bread, [and] one body: for we are all partakers of
that one bread.
Acts 2:42 They joined with the other believers and devoted
themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, sharing in the Lord's
Supper and in prayer.

"level" Thoughts During Communion
How does a level work? Basically a bubble in a glass tube keeps an even keel while the world tilts.
Well I was thinking during communion again. I sat there with the cup in my fingers and I noticed that whichever way I tilted the cup the grape juice stayed level. Hmmmmm, isn’t that the way Christ works in us? He keeps us “level” while the whole world is tilted.
Colossians 1:27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
