    Ann Arbor Art fair week!

Well when the temp. goes up to 90 and thunderstorms are in the air. You know it's that time for the Ann Arbor Art fair.

They are blocking off the streets today and setting up booths. Tomorrow the thousands of visitors and exibitors will swarm into town. Sometimes the people are just as interesting as the art exibits.

    Animal Crackers At Midnight

I was at work last night and in my travels I found a package of animal crackers in one of the vending machines. I thought to myself, "Wow I haven't had animal crackers in a long while!" So I bought them. I didn't worry about the trans fat content, or calories either, I just enjoyed them. I thought about it afterwords, and you know, animal crackers are really not the best cookies, but there was something about the remembered taste. It just felt good, like I had experienced a memory of enjoying animal crackers as a child. Sometimes it's good to go back to things from our youth, spontaneity and innocence for example. It's too easy to drift away from our youthful exuberance in the Christian life too. We get bored, we have a "job" to do. Maybe we could pick up the Bible and read a chapter. Maybe we'll say, "Boy that felt good."

    You just never know

I was sitting at our security substation in one of the hospital's outbuildings when a woman stopped by and said "I just want to thank you..." Now I work in security, so thank you is a phrase I don't hear too often. She said that the other week when I gave her a ride back to the hospital was provedential. She said, "If you hadn't been here I might not have made it to the other hospital and been able to be with my dad before he died. I thought I was just doing the right thing when I gave this staff member a lift. Instead I gave her the chance to say goodby to her dad. You just never know....
