14 The unfaithful will be repaid for his own ways; Likewise a good man will be rewarded for his ways. Whenever I start to dwell on all the evil in the world and how some people seem to escape justice for their crimes, I remember they might escape justice here on Earth but as Christians we all know we will all stand before God to give an account of our lives and evil will not escape the justice of God. God will prevail.

Proverbs 14:12
12 There is a way which seems right to a man, But in the end it leads to death.
The Bible makes it quite clear that the only path to life is thru Christ. But mankind has decided to make their own way thru life. We have become so advanced that we have determined we don't need a God. The idea of religion is seen as old fashioned, as fairy tells, the belief in God is compared to belief in Santa Clause or the Easter bunny. The academic community is more likely to believe in aliens than accept the belief in God. When I think of this it reminds me of the Old Testament. Whenever the Hebrews where in trouble they would seek God but whenever everything was going good they would forget God. God would punish them and they would call on God for help again. Today mankind has become so confident and arrogrant in our own abilities that we think we don't need a God. I just think how long before God puts mankind in its place.

Psalm 91
1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of Yahweh, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in whom I trust.” 3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, And from the deadly pestilence. 4 He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart. 5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day; 6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that wastes at noonday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it will not come near you. 8 You will only look with your eyes, And see the recompense of the wicked. 9 Because you have made Yahweh your refuge, And the Most High your dwelling place, 10 No evil shall happen to you, Neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. 11 For he will give his angels charge over you, To guard you in all your ways. 12 They will bear you up in their hands, So that you won’t dash your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread on the lion and cobra. You will trample the young lion and the serpent underfoot. 14 “Because he has set his love on me, therefore I will deliver him. I will set him on high, because he has known my name. 15 He will call on me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him, and honor him. 16 I will satisfy him with long life, And show him my salvation.”

Proverbs 13:20
Proverbs 13:20 Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble. Let me tell you first hand I have associated with fools. If you have read my blog before I have talked about this before. As a teenager I hanged around with the wrong crowd because I thought I was being cool by hanging around with them. We use to see who can do the most stupid stuff and get away with it. If you don't think who your kids hang around with influences what they do think again. Kids are going to do what they think is going to make them popular. That is why it is important for parents to be a bigger influence than the things and people they are exposed to everyday. I live in a large town and it is outrageous some of the things that go on at school, I can imagine the bigger schools in larger towns. Your kids today are expose to a whole lot more than what we were at their age. It starts at home if you aint preparing them at home with good godly influences and good Christian values you are sending them out like sheep among wolves.

Proverbs 13:18
18 Poverty and shame come to him who refuses discipline, But he who heeds correction shall be honored. We live in a society where discipline has almost become a dirty word. Parents are made to feel if they are stern with discipline they are bad parents. Spending time in the Army as a NCO I saw first hand how important discipline is. I got to a point I could tell rather a new soldier was going to make it or not just by asking a few questions about how he was raised. The kids that are taught self-discipline at home can make it anywhere. The kids who weren’t taught any discipline usually fall apart. They fall in with bad crowds, can handle being told what to do, and basically can't handle tough situations.

Proverbs 13:16
Proverbs 13:16 Wise people think before they act; fools don't and even brag about their foolishness. Do you know that most people that get caught doing wrong is because they couldn't be quiet about their deeds? I remember when I was young and drank alot. I would listen to some of my friends story the next morning after a night of drinking. Stories about waking up next to the toilet in a pool of vomit and this was consider fun. Now that is foolish and we did think it was funny. I look back on those days and realize how foolish I truly was being. I missed a lot of opportunties because I would rather hang out with the "cool kids" instead of doing what I know was right. I strayed from God for a life of foolishness. I thank God everyday for allowing me to find my way again.

Luke 17:33
Luke 17:33 If you cling to your life, you will lose it, and if you let your life go, you will save it. Of course we are talking about the physical life and spiritual life. One of the hardest things for Christians to do is live in this world while striving for the next. We have to be physically part of this world in body but not in spirit. We can't just go and hide in the woods somewhere. But we don't have to take part in the desires of this world. Our hearts should be set on pleasing God not sinful greedy, lustful desires such as the people of this world seek after. The people of this world seek after money and power. They work their lives away trying to acquire things, things that can't bring true happiness. Living in this world we have to provide for our physical well being of ourselves and our families and we all like to provide a nice life for our families. And there is nothing wrong with that, God expects us to provide for our families. It is when it becomes more than that when it becomes a problem. I know guys at work that stay until late at night, the desire to get ahead, to get the next promotion consumes them. And they sacrifice one of most important things in life to get it, time. Time with their families, time with God. Their is nothing wrong with trying to be successful but when it consumes your life than their is a problem. I use to be one of those guys. I was working from 6 AM until past 6 PM, until I took a job with less hours and it really opened my eyes to what I was missing in life. I was missing my kids growing up, I was spending more time concentrating on my job than I was on God. I was coming home stressed out and taking it out on my family. Now I come home early, I am there when my kids come home from school and I set time aside for Bible study everyday. I really am thankful that God opened my eyes and allowed me the opportunity to spend more time on the things that truly matter in life.

Luke 16:15
Luke 16:15 then he said to them "you like to appear righteous in public, but God knows your hearts. What this world honors is detestable in the sight of God. What does this world honor? Fame, fortune, power. Who does this world hold as idols? Celebrities, sport stars, music stars. The same people always in the news making fools of themselves. Making racial slurs, getting arrested, and going to rehab for substance abuse. It is said that Anna Nicole Smith had taken over 300 pills in the month prior to her death. And this fight over the baby. The poor child if she wasn't potentially worth millions of dollars no one would care. It’s a perfect case of greed. But you know with all that money they still aint happy, that’s why they end up addicted to drugs, shaving their heads and killing themselves. With all that money and fame they still can't find happiness and won't as long as they look for it in Hollywood.

Proverbs 12:26
Proverbs 12:26 The godly give good advice to their friends, the wicked leads them astray. I became a Christian when I was pretty young, 13 years old, but when I got a little older like a lot of teenagers I fell into peer presure and started hanging around with the wrong type of people. I started drinking, used a little bit of drugs, chased girls, got into a little trouble with the law. I thought I was being cool because the people I was around thought it was cool. I couldn't imagine my kids doing some of the things I did. I realize now how stupid I was being not only did I let God down but I blew my chances of going to college because my grades slipped so bad. It wasn't until I got married that I came back to the Church. I realize that I was husband and a dad and that I should act like one. But I think I did learn something. You can't live your life trying to please other people. I knew what I was doing was wrong, I knew I living against God's wishes but I was more concern about fitting in. And we can't live like that. The world has changed since I was a teenager. Hard core drug use is more common, girls think they have to dress and act like a slut to get attention of the young boys, we have music that glorifies a lifestyle of crime. And you have media outlets such as TV and the internet that glorfies deviant living. Like I said l learned a lesson from my life, who your kids hang out with makes a big difference. You have to make sure that you and God are a bigger influence in their life than friends and the things they are expose to on a daily basis at school, the TV and the web.

Proverbs 12:25
Proverbs 12:25 Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person down. The devil wants us weigh downed with worry. When we are weighed down with worry we can't concentrate on God. I went thru a period a while back. I have a kid on the way and I'v some career choices I have to make pretty soon, mainly should I stay or go, and if I go what am I going to do. It was keeping me up trying to figure out what I should do. Then it came to me. I kept thinking what should I do instead of what I should be letting God do. I believe God has a plan for all of our lives. And if we settle down and pay attention God will show us the plan he has for us.
