    1 Thessalonians 4:11,12

    1 Thessalonians 4: 11 Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, 12so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody. (NIV)

    Rather you realize it or not you are being watched.  You are being watched by those around.  If others know you are a Christian you can’t bet you are being watched.  Some watching to see if you fail in order to feel better about themselves, some are curious about this life you live, and others truly admire you.  As the saying goes, “you are the only Bible some people will ever read”.   What are they reading through you?  Are you portraying a true Christian lifestyle for others to see?

    Titus 1:1-3

     Titus 1:1 Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ for the faith of God's elect and the knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness— 2a faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time, 3and at his appointed season he brought his word to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior,

    Our faith as Christians lies in the belief that Jesus is the Son of God and that he died on the cross for our sins and that through his blood which was shed on the cross for us we can have the forgiveness of our sins and eternal life through him and only through him.

    2 Timothy 4:2-5

    2 Timothy 4:2Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

     3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

     4And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

     5But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

    I have a strong desire to preach the Word of God and it is a desire to do more than see the lost come to God before it is to late but what drives me crazy is that it seems no one in the organized church structure cares.  I am not good enough because I don’t have a degree from some seminary.  There is so many people that come to church every Sunday and do nothing but keep the church pews warm but yet there are so many that want to get involved but are ignored because they don’t come from the right background, they don’t have the right education, they don’t belong to the right group in church, are you kidding me?  The Apostles all came from the lower rungs of society and only had the basics of education.  But yet they spread the Gospel throughout the world.  What they did have was the Holy Spirit, the scriptures, and the lessons they had learn from Christ himself.  Wake up church.  True workers of Christ are lead by the Holy Spirit and their education is a deep understanding of the scriptures.  My grandfather was a Baptist preacher for many years.  He was a school dropout that my grandmother taught how to read after they were married using the Bible to do so.  Don’t miss understand me I am a strong believer in education.  I myself am a online student at Liberty University working toward a Bachelors degree in Biblical Studies.  But I know all my learning can never replace the guidance of the Holy Spirit and daily study of the scriptures.  That is the true education of a worker for Christ.

    Colossians 3:10

    Colossians 3:10 Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. (NLT)

    How do we learn to be like Christ?  We learn to be like Christ by allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us, by talking to God (praying) and by reading his Word (the Bible).  The Bible reveals the nature of God.  You want to learn to be Christ like, read His Word.

    Colossians 2:8

    Colossians 2:8 Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powersa]"> of this world,

     rather than from Christ

    My beliefs are grounded in one thing, the Bible.  You can keep your emerging church, your progressive church, your liberal theology.  If it is not based on the Word of God I want nothing to do with it.  Give me that old time religion based on the Word of God.  I want the same church that Paul preached in.  I want the same sermons that Paul and the Apostles preached.

    2 Timothy 2:15

    2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

    We are to study the Word of God.  It is not a request, God is not asking, He is saying we need to study his Word.  And why wouldn’t we want to?  The Bible is God revealed in written word.  You want to know who God is?  Read the Bible.  The Bible reveals the nature of God.

    1 Timothy 6:3-10

    1 Timothy 6:3-10 Teach these things, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them. 3 Some people may contradict our teaching, but these are the wholesome teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. These teachings promote a godly life. 4 Anyone who teaches something different is arrogant and lacks understanding. Such a person has an unhealthy desire to quibble over the meaning of words. This stirs up arguments ending in jealousy, division, slander, and evil suspicions. 5 These people always cause trouble. Their minds are corrupt, and they have turned their backs on the truth. To them, a show of godliness is just a way to become wealthy.

     6 Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. 7 After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. 8 So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.

     9 But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. (NLT)

    I wonder if prosperity preachers and those that follow prosperity preacher have ever read these verses?

    Philippians 2:3-5

    Philippians 2:3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

     5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. (NLT)

    Can we ever truly have the same attitude Christ.  Sure as Disciples of Christ our goal should be to be truly Christ like but of course that is just a goal because we could never be truly Christ like because Christ was a perfect being that lived a perfect life.  We are sinners worthy of death.  We are nothing but a brief moment in time.  Here today and gone tomorrow.  It is only through Christ and Christ alone that we experience true life and eternal life.

    Philippians 1:27-30

    Philippians 1:27 Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News. 28

    Don’t be intimidated in any way by your enemies. This will be a sign to them that they are going to be destroyed, but that you are going to be saved, even by God himself. 29 For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him. 30 We are in this struggle together. Y

    ou have seen my struggle in the past, and you know that I am still in the midst of it. (NLT)

    The Gospel of Christ has always had enemies and will continue to enemies but we know they will never prevail.  We worship an almighty God that will never be beaten.  We might suffer for our beliefs in this life but we know a better award awaits us in heaven.

    Ephesians 6:10-17

    Ephesians 6:10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

     11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

     12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

     13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

     14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

     15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

     16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

     17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

    A lot of Christians have a hard time wrapping their head around the idea that we are at war and that we are Soldiers in these war.  They need to wake up this war is very real, Satan and his demons are very real, and the hand of Satan behind a lot of the world events are very real.  Hostility is building up in this country against the children of God and it is only a matter of time before we feel its wrath.  Will you stand firm on the Word of God or will you buckle under the pressure?

    1 Thessalonians 4:1-8

    1Finally, brothers, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. 2For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.

     3It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4that each of you should learn to control his own bodya]">[a] in a way that is holy and honorable, 5not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; 6and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. 7For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. 8Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.

    We have been called to live a holy life before God and we know this is not always easy.  We do not live in a pure world.  We live in a world where sin is a click of the mouse away.  Sin is prevalent on TV and with the click of the mouse you can pull up any images you want.  We have to stay grounded in the Word of God and allow the Holy Spirit to rule in our lives to overcome these temptations which is so easy to obtain.

    Ephesians 4:11-16

    Ephesians 4:11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ ; 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. 14 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming ; 15 but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love (NASB)

    Notice what verse 12 says, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ.  Nowhere does it say to get rich, get popular, get famous, to be liked.  If this was true of all church leaders we would not have to worry about deceitful scheming.  What is our defense against deceitful scheming?  Knowing the Word of God.

    Ephesians 2:19,20

    Ephesians 2:19Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

     20And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

    There is an old hymn called “Give Me That Old Time Religion”

     Give me that Give me that old time religion....
          Give me that....old time religion....
          O give me that old time religion.....
          It's good enough for me........

    It has saved our fathers.......
          6. It was good for the Prophet Daniel.....
          7. It was good for the Hebrew children....
          8. It was tried in the fiery furnace......

          9. It was good for Paul and Silas......
          10. It's a promise you can count on.....
          11. It will make us shout the victory.....
          12. Leave your burdens all behind you.....

    I am so tired of hearing about emerging churches and modern churches and modern theology.  I want the religion that the Apostles had, I want the sermons that Paul preached, I want a church based on the foundation of Christ and his teachings.

    Ephesians 2:1-13

    Ephesians 2:1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. 3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved ), 6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith ; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God ; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. 11 Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called " Uncircumcision" by the so-called "Circumcision," which is performed in the flesh by human hands - 12 remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. (NASB)

    We are in a spiritual battle.  A spiritual battle with no neutrals.  You either serve Satan or you serve God.  You are either a child of God or a pawn of Satan.  All those without God serve Satan.  We all were in this situation a one time, walking in the darkness of our sins until someone introduce us to the Light.  Now that you know the truth don’t you want others to know the truth?  Don’t you want others to find the freedom, peace, and happiness that you have found?  Don’t you want them to be free from the slavery of sin and wickedness?  Can you live peaceably knowing those around you are going to hell unless they find Christ?  How can they find Christ unless someone shows them the Way?  Have you showed someone the Way to salvation?  Have you witnessed to someone this week?

    Galatians 6:12

    Galatians 6:12 Those who are trying to force you to be circumcised want to look good to others. They don’t want to be persecuted for teaching that the cross of Christ alone can save. (NLT)

    There are many sell outs in the Christian world today.  Many that don’t want to make a true stand for Christ.  Many that won’t make a stand on true Christian values.  Many that are afraid of not being like or afraid of being labeled as intolerant or hateful.  If you truly love your fellow man you would tell him the truth.  If they don’t know Christ they are heading to hell.  Salvation is in the name of Christ only.

    Galatians 5:16-26

    Galatians 5:16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. 18 But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.

     19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

     22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

     24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. 26 Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another. (NLT)

    Do we let the Holy Spirit guide our lives?  Do we truly give God control of our lives?  Have we put aside selfish ambition to follow the will of God in our lives?

    Galatians 4:21-24

    Galatians 4: 21 Tell me, you who want to live under the law, do you know what the law actually says? 22 The Scriptures say that Abraham had two sons, one from his slave wife and one from his freeborn wife. 23 The son of the slave wife was born in a human attempt to bring about the fulfillment of God’s promise. But the

    son of the freeborn wife was born as God’s own fulfillment of his promise. (NLT)

    There is only one way to salvation and that is through giving your life to Christ.  To many people try to create alternate routes to heaven but they are all lies and only leads to hell.  The only true path to salvation is by giving your life to Christ.
