Judges 17:6
Judges 17:6 In
those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that
which was right in his own eyes.
The problem wasn’t that there was no king. The problem was that the nation of Israel had
forsaken God and His law and since that had rejected God and His law they did
what they felt was right. The problem
with that is the heart of man is depraved and is unable to be right without God. Genesis 6:5 tells us that the heart of man is
only evil continually without God. The
man without God is inclined to do evil. There are only two forces in this world good and evil, God and Satan and
if you reject God and His goodness that means you have accepted Satan and
evil. There are no neutrals involved in
this spiritual war that has been going on since the beginning. People don’t want to hear this but it is
true, if you aint serving God then you are serving Satan.
We see the same thing going on today. I don’t how many times I have heard “I don’t
need the Bible to tell me how to be good I do what I feel is right.” The problem is if your heart is depraved
without God and inclined to do evil without God how do you know what is truly
right? Believe it or not Hitler thought
he was doing the right thing for Germany by killing Jews. There are people who think it should be legal
for an adult to have sex with minors including some doctors. There are people who think because they are
poor it is right to steal from you because you have more than they do. So what is truly right? You can’t go by the shifting sands of public
opinion. What people think was right 100
years ago is considered politically incorrect today and so many people chose
not to think for themselves but to follow the crowd on what is popular. God gave us His Word so we could know His
will and what is right in His eyes and God doesn’t change and He doesn’t care
about what is popular, politically correct or about public opinion. God doesn’t change what was sin 2000 years
ago is still sin today in His eyes and we will all stand before God someday to
be judged and if you have rejected salvation in Christ then your destiny is
hell.

John 17:13-19
John 17:13 I am coming to you now,
but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the
full measure of my joy within them. 14I
have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the
world any more than I am of the world. 15My
prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from
the evil one. 16They
are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17Sanctify
them bythe
truth; your word is truth. 18As
you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.
(NIV)
The world hates Christians because
they don’t belong to their world. The
world hates Christians because Christians refuse to take part in their sinful
lifestyles. Christ warned believers over
and over again that the world is going to hate them and if the world doesn’t
hate you for being a Christian it is because you haven’t really separated
yourself from the world. We have to live
in this world physically but we are not to have the same mindset and beliefs as
the world because when we accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior we were born
again. We are no longer part of this
world emotionally, spiritually, and mentally but physically we are still part
of this world to be a witness of Christ to a lost and dying world.
Christ told us we can’t serve two
masters. We can’t live to please the
world and please God at the same time. It is impossible to do this. Society and God has different values. What the world values means nothing to God. The world values success, money, fame, sex, and
possessions. All of this means nothing
to God. God is looking for men and women
who are willing to be living sacrifices. Men and women willing to forsake the things of this world to serve Him
and be the light of Christ into a world full of darkness and sin.
Many Christians, leaders, and
churches are trying to be men pleasers and God pleasers at the same time and it
isn’t working. This sinful society we
live in is only going to be pleasant to you as long as you say what they want
to hear and don’t preach on anything to controversial and turn a blind eye to
the sins of society and do nothing to disturb them and their sinful lifestyles
but in the end we will all stand before the judgment throne of God to be judged
by Him and what excuse could you offer to God for forsaking Him in an effort to
appease society?

John 16:1-4
John 16:1 All this I have told you
so that you will not fall away. 2They
will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who
kills you will think they are offering a service to God. 3They
will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. 4I
have told you this, so that when their time comes you will remember that I warned
you about them. I did not tell you this from the beginning because I was with
you, (NIV)
When the Jews persecuted Jesus and
His disciples they thought they were doing the will of God. They weren’t of course because their sins had
blinded them to the truth. While they
thought they were doing the will of God they were actually doing the will of
Satan who was using them in an attempt to wipe out Christianity before it even
got started. These Muslims who wage war
and jihad in the name of God do not serve God at least not the God of the Bible
Satan has blinded them with deception and they worship a false god who they
believe wants them to conquer the world and force everyone into Islam. They are really serving Satan. It is Satan that wants to wipe Christianity
out and force the world into serving a false god.
Satan since the Garden of Eve has
tried to destroy the people of God. He
tried to destroy the Hebrews in Egypt but God delivered them. Satan tried to use the Assyrians, the Babylonians,
the Greeks, and the Romans all to try and wipe out the Jews but God would never
allow Satan to accomplish what he wanted. I believe the Holocaust was inspired by Satan. I believe as evil as Hitler was he had to be
under the influence of Satan or demon possessed especially since the target of
his hatred was the Jews. I believe Satan
once again was trying to wipe out the Jews and I think it is significant that a
mere three years after a mad man inspired by a hatred for the Jews tried to
wipe them out that they re-established the nation of Israel against all the
odds of country which disappeared close to two thousand years ago could be
reborn and against all the odds they have held onto the land all though they
are surrounded by those who want them destroyed. This could not happen unless God allowed it
to happen.
Around the world today Christians
are under attack by those who want them destroyed and the sad thing is many
Christians in the West are clueless of the plight of Christians around the
world in places like North Korea, China, and Vietnam where the Communist
governments has imprisoned thousands of Christian for their faith or in places
like India and Nigeria where Christians are under attack by religiously
inspired hatred that has left hundreds of Christians dead or in the Middle East
where Muslim governments and Islamist groups are trying to force Christians
out. Once again this is Satan inspired
hatred for the children of God. Satan
hates the children of God and wants them destroyed and he uses those who are
blinded by sin and deception to accomplish his means and this hatred for the
children of God is starting to grow in the West. Just ask an Atheist why they hate Christians
and most of them can’t get you a valid reason. They will mumble something about Christians persecuting others because
of their beliefs or their choices in life or whatever which isn’t true. Even when Christians disagree with someone’s
lifestyle or whatever these people are not being persecuting by Christians as
many of them try to make people believe. The truth is these people hate Christians because they are the children
of God and Satan has built it up in their hearts that they must hate anyone or
anything associated with God. These same
people who talk of love and tolerance for everyone are the same ones that get
very hateful and very intolerant against anyone claiming to being a Christian.
Well if you read the Bible we knows
God of course wins in the end but Satan isn’t going down without a fight and if
you study the Bible you know before Christ returns for His church things are
going to get worse but the true Christian knows we have nothing to fear because
God promised to never leave us or forsake. In this world we may have trouble but we know a better world awaits
those who endure till the end.

John 15:18-25
John 15:18 “If the world hates you,
keep in mind that it hated me first. 19If
you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not
belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the
world hates you. 20Remember
what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’If they persecuted me,
they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours
also. 21They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know
the one who sent me. 22If
I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they
have no excuse for their sin. 23Whoever
hates me hates my Father as well. 24If
I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty
of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my
Father. 25But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me
without reason. (NIV)
Why did they hate Christ? I think John 3 explains it best:
John 3:19 This
is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness
instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does
evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their
deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives
by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what
they have done has been done in the sight of God. (NIV)
They hated Christ and continue to hate Christ and
His followers because they exposed the evils and the sins of this world. If you don’t think that is true just publicly
proclaim your support for the Biblical view of marriage as being one man and
one woman married for life and just see how hateful people can be or publicly
proclaim your opposition to abortion or publicly proclaim that Christ is the
only Way to heaven and all other religions are false and see their reaction.
We live in a society where it is PC to be tolerant
of everybody and every belief but yet the same people who preach tolerance and
acceptance of everything are often the most intolerant and hateful toward
Christ and His followers. They hate
those who are unwilling to compromise their beliefs and joined them in their
world of sin and wickedness. And if this
all sounds strange and untrue to you and you claim to be a Christian then you
need to ask yourself why is that Christ promised His followers that they would
be hated and yet I don’t feel their hatred because trust me as the Bible says
this world belongs to Satan and any true follower of Christ that publicly
proclaims His faith is going to feel hatred from those so lost in their sins and
are so caught up in the darkness of this world that they are going to hate
those not living in the darkness of this world with them.
As John 3 pointed out the Light of Christ exposed
them in the darkness and they hated Him for it and when Christ died on the
cross He provided a way from them to escape their sins so that they are without
excuse for continuing in their sins and they hate Him for it because they don’t
want to be freed from their sins because they love their sins more than God and
hate anyone who exposes their sins or threatens their sinful lifestyle.
Many Christians and churches have chosen to tone
down and water down their beliefs in a vain attempt to be more pleasing to society
but we can’t please God and the world at the same time. If you publicly and boldly live for Christ
the world is going to hate you. I am not
saying we should live in an arrogant manner and rub our faith in everybody’s
face but I am saying if you live for God in an uncompromising manner and refuse
to be part of the sinful ways of this world the world is going to hate you for
it but we must remember we live to please God not the world.
