    Proverbs 16:4

The Lord has made everything for its own end — Yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.

Some of you like me has wonder at least once why it seems some evil people get away with their sins but if we study God's word we know all of us will stand before God to give a account of our lives and the wicked will not go unpunished.  We just have to be faithful and trust in God's will and know good will always prevail over evil.  They might escape justice here on Earth but they can't escape from God.

    John 14:27

27 Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

People seek security and peace of mind thru many different means, large bank accounts, insurance, security systems for our homes but as Christians we know the only way to have true peace of mind is by putting our faith in God.  You will know a person who has true peace of mind thru God because nothing this world can throw at them rattles their faith in God.

    Psalm 119: 1,2

       1. Happy are they who are without sin in their ways, walking in the law of the Lord.
2: Happy are they who keep his unchanging word, searching after him with all their heart.

You can tell a person who really has God in their hearts.  They have a certain air about.  They are at peace, they are joyful, they are happy, they are a joy to be around. Compared to someone that is lost.  The other night I was watching a news show that had a athiest on the show and the subject of the show was the death of Rev Falwell.  And this guy was the most bitter, hateful person I have seen in a long while.  This guy never smiled, was impolite and didn't have anything intelligent to say he just threw around insults and hate.  He reminds me of a certain  athiest that is on TV on a regular basis, Rosie O'Donnell who never has anything pleasant to say and has called Christians more dangerous than terrorist.  Both are so full of hate and bitterness it has actually consumed them.  That is the darkness in their lives consuming them.

    Proverbs 15:23

Proverbs 15:23 Everyone enjoys a fitting reply; it is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time.

When I was in high school a teacher gave me a quote to remember after I had said something foolish in class, " it is better to be quite and thought of as a fool then to open your mouth and remove all doubt".  I often remember that quote after I have already said something stupid.  Words have such power we don't even realize.  The power to heal, to bring life, to forgive but also to destroy, hurt feelings, destroy relationships etc.  The Bible calls the tongue a sharp two edged sword.  The tongue is more dangerous than the weapons of wars.  It is usually the tongue that starts conflicts.  But the tongue can also bring the life giving word of God, and show love to the world.  The only Bible some people will ever read is us.  The way we live our lifes reflects God presence in our lives but a few misspoken words can destroy all of that.

    Psalm 116

       1. I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.
2: Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.
3: The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.
4: Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.
5: Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.
6: The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.
7: Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.
8: For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.
9: I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.
10: I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:
11: I said in my haste, All men are liars.
12: What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?
13: I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.
14: I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.
15: Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
16: O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.
17: I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.
18: I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people,
19: In the courts of the LORD's house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.

    Proverbs 15:5-7

    5. A fool despises his father’s correction, But he who heeds reproof shows prudence.

6 In the house of the righteous is much treasure, But the income of the wicked brings trouble.

7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge; Not so with the heart of fools.

    Proverbs 15:4

4 A gentle tongue is a tree of life, But deceit in it crushes the spirit.

    Proverbs 15:1

1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Biting my tongue when I am angry is very hard for me.  I confess before that I have a temper.  I am normally a shy person but when I am angry I have a tendency to let loose.  And I have often regretted later what I said in the heat of the moment.  But I have learned that keeping calm is often the best policy.  When we get angry we often do rash things that makes matters worst or we are embarrassed about how rashed we acted.  I have learned to avoid situations that stir me up.  I have to remind myself whom I am representing and that throwing a temper tantrum is the way to do it.  I pray on a regular basis for patience in dealing withy other people and situations I can’t control.

    Proverbs 14:35

34 Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a disgrace to any people.

There was a time when the US could truly be considered a Godly nation and people were not ashamed of that.  Today things have changed.  People regularly question the existence of a God.  In a recent poll over 80% of Americans say they believe in God, that included Christians, Muslims and Jews, but just a little above 15% attend regular services.  It is mostly the liberal media and activist that openly challenge Christanity.  Recently after the GOP debate a professor in a TV interview said that Americans should be scared at the fact that so many canidates said they believe in creation over evolution.  Why should Americans be scared?   I thought everybody was entitled to their beliefs.

With 80% of the population believing in God why is so much decadence advertised instead of Godly behavior.  The sad fact is that even though people admit to believing in God they don't practice it.  With just 15% of the population attending regular sevices what can we expect.  Spending time in the military I traveled the world.  And everybody judges America by Hollywood.  That is what they see of the US.  They might hate us but they love our movies.  Is that who we want representing us, Hollywood and celebrities.  Every time one of these people act up it is transmited around the world thru the news services.  We have become known as a nation with no morals.  The good things that go on everyday in this country isn't exciting enough to make the news.  Only in the Arab countries did they ask about being a Christian and that is only because their own religious leaders use the term Christian as a  tool to use against us, relating Christanity to Crusaders that want to destroy Islam and conquer their lands.  But the next thing they want to know about is Hollywood and "Sin City" Las Vegas.  If the 80% of people that admitted to believing in God put it into practice can you imagine the light we could be in this dark world.

    Psalm 105:19

Psalm 105:19 Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the Lord tested Joseph's character.

Joseph went thru some trials.  He was sold into slavery by his brothers, he was falsely accused of assualting a woman and spent time in prison.  But he never lost faith in God, he never became bitter.  We all go thru trials.  God never promise life would be easy but he did promise to never leave us.  And we all have our character flaws.  Mine is I am often inpatient and I can have a bit of temper and I don't take correction very easily.  I often quietly take it from my boss but inside I am ready to explode.  These are things I often pray about.  And these things surface when I allow myself to be distracted by the cares of the world from the things of God.  The Bible preaches patience not inpatience especially with our fellow man.  I often allow myself to get inpatient with other people.  I allow myself to get angry over simple little things I can't control.  And what is worst is I allow it to manifest in front of other people including my kids.  We are suppose to be God's represtatives on Earth.  I ain't being a good example when I allow my temper to show itself.  But I have recognized my weaknesses and I pray in help in controling my character flaws.

    Proverbs 14:22-24

22 Don’t they go astray who plot evil? But love and faithfulness belong to those who plan good.

23 In all hard work there is profit, But the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.

24 The crown of the wise is their riches, But the folly of fools crowns them with folly.
