    Romans 14:10-12

Romans 14: 10: But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
11: For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12: So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

Don’t be deceived we will all stand before God and give account of our lives.  Are you ready?  Can you stand before God in confidence that your sins have been washed away?  If you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior then the answer is yes.  If you don’t know Jesus then the answer is no and your fate is hell.

    Romans 13:11-14

Romans 13:11 This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living. 13 Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don’t participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy. 14 Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires. (NLT)

There are a lot of things in the world we are unsure of but one thing you can be sure of is that with every passing day we are one day closer to seeing the Lord rather it comes by our death or the second coming of Christ.  Are you ready?  Are you ready to stand before God and give account of your life?  Will you hear?

Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world, or will you hear?

Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

    Romans 11:33-36

Romans 11:33 Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways!

34 For who can know the Lord’s thoughts?
Who knows enough to give him advice?
    l]">[l]

35 And who has given him so much
that he needs to pay it back?
    m]">[m]

36 For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen (NLT)

Who truly knows the mind of God?  Who truly understands the ways of God?  God’s true nature is beyond our mere understanding but we know we worship an almighty God that everything happens according to his will.

    Proverbs 22:6

Proverbs 22:6 Train a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not turn from it.

One of the best thing you can do for your kids is to teach them about God.  Teach them Godly values.  It might not show results right away but the seed has been planted.  I didn’t grow up in a Christian home but I had Christian grandparents that taught me about God.  As a young man I lived the life of the prodigal son.  I lived the life of clubs, partying, and bar hopping but I found my way home.  I found my way back to God and the values I had been taught as a kid.

    Romans 10:9-13

Romans 10: 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Is there any doubt really about salvation?  Salvation is in Christ and Christ alone.  Salvation comes in believing Christ is the Son of God and that he died on the cross for our sins.  That is the true and only path to salvation.

    Romans 8:5-17

Romans 8: 5Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6The mind of sinful mane]">[e] is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7the sinful mindf]">[f] is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. 8Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.

9You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.

12Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation—but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. 13For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, 14because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship.g]">[g] And by him we cry, "Abba,h]">[h] Father." 16The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. 17Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. (NIV)

In my Bible these verses fall under the sub-title “Life Through the Spirit.”  We know once we become children of God we are no longer slaves of sin or Satan because those who live in sin are actually servants of Satan, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us.  We are the Temple of God and the Holy Spirit lives in this temple to guide us through life, to guide us on our walk as children of God.  We no longer live for ourselves we live to please God.  We live to do his will.  We live a life of holiness, purity, and Godliness before God.

    Romans 6:16

Romans 6:16 Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.

Addiction is slavery.  Anyone who has been around an addict knows this.  The addict becomes a slave to his addiction.  They do all that they got to do to feed this addiction, whether this is alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling or whatever else takes over a person’s life.  Satan makes sin look so appealing why hiding the fact he is alluring people into a lifetime of addiction but thank God that Christ died on the cross so that we can be free of the slavery of sin.

    Luke 16:30,31

Luke 16:30: And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
31: And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Mankind has been in rebellion to God since the beginning.  Adam and Eve disobeyed God, God led the Hebrews out of Egypt personally and they rebelled, the history of Israel is a history of rebellion against God, God sent his son that we might have forgiveness and the world rejected him.  How long will God be patient with the rebellion of mankind before he says enough is enough.  The Son is returning and he will judge this world of its rejection of his free gift of forgiveness.

    Romans 2:5-8

Romans 2: 5But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. 6God "will give to each person according to what he has done." 7To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. 8But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. (NIV)

Don’t be fooled by those who say otherwise.  The judgment of God is a very real thing and we will all stand before God and give an account of our lives.  How will you fair?  Will you hear?

'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.

    Or will you hear?

'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

    Romans 1:18-32

     Romans 1:18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

19Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

23And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

24Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

25Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

     28And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

29Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

30Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

32Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

These verses show the downward spiral of mankind.  Once mankind rejected God and refused to accept him as God mankind spiraled away into darkness where Satan was waiting for them.  They replaced God with their own gods, rather it be idols or evil desires.  They replaced the natural with the unnatural.  They replaced Godly values with the values of society which often go against the values of God’s Word.  The values of today’s society are often in conflict with God’s Word and it is sad to see so many churches replace old fashioned Godly values with the secular values of today’s society.  These churches and those that follow their lead will face the judgment of God for rejecting God and his Word.  Because it clearly says these people are worthy of death, in this sense it is spiritual death and eternity in hell.

    Acts 28:23-27

Acts 28:23They arranged to meet Paul on a certain day, and came in even larger numbers to the place where he was staying. From morning till evening he explained and declared to them the kingdom of God and tried to convince them about Jesus from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets. 24Some were convinced by what he said, but others would not believe. 25They disagreed among themselves and began to leave after Paul had made this final statement: "The Holy Spirit spoke the truth to your forefathers when he said through Isaiah the prophet:

26" 'Go to this people and say,
       "You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving."

    27For this people's heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
          hear with their ears,
          understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.' (NIV)

Paul was speaking this message to the Jews of Rome but it certainly applies today.  We live in a society that is turning away from God and the Christian values that has made this country great.  Our children don’t know the Bible and are not taught Christian values in the home instead they learn their values from the TV set and Hollywood.  We live in a society that preaches tolerance of everything but Christian values.  Because Christians often take a stand against the immorality of today’s society they are often mocked and ridiculed for their beliefs and marked as intolerant and hateful.  Well they are right.  I refuse to tolerate the sin and immorality of Hollywood and today’s society and will not apologize for my beliefs.  I base my beliefs on the Word of God and will not apologize for my beliefs.  Jesus is the only way to heaven and all other religions are a lie and if you don’t know Christ then your destiny is hell.  Sexual immorality and homosexuality is an abomination before God and will not be tolerated by God.  All who is involved in such things as well as other sins will be judged by God.

    Luke 14:25-27

Luke 14:25 A large crowd was following Jesus. He turned around and said to them, 26 “If you want to be my disciple, you must hate everyone else by comparison—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple. 27 And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple

Are we truly willing to give all for Christ?  Are we truly willing to forsake everything else to serve Christ?  God give me the faith and courage to make it so.

    Acts 26:8

Acts 26:8Why should any of you consider it incredible that God raises the dead?

It always amazes me to hear people who claim to be Christian doubt the resurrection of Christ.  Really?  They certainly don’t understand their own faith.  Paul said if Christ didn’t rise from the dead then our faith is foolishness.  If Christ didn’t rise from the dead then we are worshipping a liar and reading a book of lies.  These people truly don’t understand who God is.  If God is truly an almighty God why couldn’t he raise his Son from the dead?  These almighty God created life, the universe, and the heavens, what could restrict these almighty God from raising the dead?  These people have created their own version of a weak God that is put in bounds by human imagination.  As for me I worship an almighty God that nothing is impossible for him.

    Acts 24:24-26

Acts 24:24Several days later Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was a Jewess. He sent for Paul and listened to him as he spoke about faith in Christ Jesus. 25As Paul discoursed on righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, "That's enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you." 26At the same time he was hoping that Paul would offer him a bribe, so he sent for him frequently and talked with him. (NIV)

Felix is like a lot of people they don’t want to preached at and they don’t want have anything to do with God until it is convenient for them.  They want to live it up and do their own thing without anybody telling them they are sinning and headed to hell but as soon as they need something they call on God.  Well this aint Burger King, you can’t have it your way.  It is God’s way, which is living a life of worship and righteousness before God.

It is the wisdom of the world that came up with the theory of evolution, the big bang theory and the reasoning behind same sex marriage.  This is the wisdom of man which is foolishness before God.  How arrogant of mankind to think he knows more than God.

1 Corinthians 1: 18: For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

19: For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

20: Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

21: For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

22: For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

    23: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

24: But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

25: Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26: For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

    27: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

28: And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

29: That no flesh should glory in his presence.

30: But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

31: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

How foolish is man to think he might be wiser than God or stronger than God.  We serve an awesome God.  God is beyond the understanding of God.  We will never understand the ways of God and are not meant to.  As Paul says God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise and the weak things of the world to confound the strong.  The world thinks the virgin birth and resurrection of Christ is foolishness but we as believers know this is our strength.  It is the fact that Christ did die on the cross and that he did rise again that we have hope of eternal life.

    Psalm 27:4

Psalm 27:4 One thing I ask of the LORD,
           this is what I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD
and to seek him in his temple.

I love serving God.  That is the truth.  There was a time in my life that I was far from God but thank God he takes back prodigal sons.  There was a time in my life I spent my nights drinking and occasionally used drugs but thank God now I spend my nights studying the Bible and I am happy.  I am the most happy when I am spending time with God.  He has blessed me with a chance to teach the teenage Sunday School class at my church and I love it.  I love studying the Bible.  If God gives me the chance to spend the rest of my life studying his Word and teaching his Word I will be happy man.

Romans 16: 17I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. 18For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.

There are many false teachers in the world today and they succeed because of naïve people who don’t take the time to study the Word of God for themselves.  Study God’s Word daily.  It is your defense against wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Acts 21:10: And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.
11: And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.
12: And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.
13: Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.
14: And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.

Paul knew what he was to face in Jerusalem but what was his answer?  The will of the Lord be done.  What a beautiful answer.  If only all Christians could have the faith to say the will of the Lord be done no matter the situation we find ourselves.

Acts 20:17From Miletus, Paul sent to Ephesus for the elders of the church. 18When they arrived, he said to them: "You know how I lived the whole time I was with you, from the first day I came into the province of Asia. 19I served the Lord with great humility and with tears, although I was severely tested by the plots of the Jews. 20You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house. 21I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.

22"And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. 23I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. 24However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace.

25"Now I know that none of you among whom I have gone about preaching the kingdom will ever see me again. 26Therefore, I declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of all men. 27For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God. 28Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers.a]">[a] Be shepherds of the church of God,b]">[b] which he bought with his own blood. 29I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. 30Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. 31So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.

32"Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. 33I have not coveted anyone's silver or gold or clothing. 34You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions. 35In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' "

36When he had said this, he knelt down with all of them and prayed. 37They all wept as they embraced him and kissed him. 38What grieved them most was his statement that they would never see his face again. Then they accompanied him to the ship.

I love reading about Paul.  Paul, after Jesus, should be the example for any worker in the Gospel.  He served humbly, he didn’t hesitate to preach the truth of the Gospel no matter the dangers or reception he might receive, he knew the dangers but never backed down, he lived completely for Christ, he bravely confronted false teachers, he did not seek wealth or fame, he asked for nothing but provided for himself.  That is the example we should live by not the example these televangelist portray of Christianity.  This is the example we should as true Christians portray to the world.
