Proverbs 10:19
19 Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut. Of course this verse isn't telling us to take a vow of silence or anything, to much foolish talk leads to sin.

Mark 8:37
37 Is anything worth more than your soul? Boy that is a powerful question. What is worth wagering your soul on? The money you pursue, the flesh you desire, the drugs you take, the alcohol you consume? It is amazing people that people are willing to risk their eternity on worldly desires that are not everlasting. For in a twinkling of an eye it can all change, Jesus can come back or your life can end.

Proverbs 10:16
16 The earnings of the godly enhance their lives, but evil people squander their money on sin. I have people I know who are always complaining about not having enough money for paying bills or buying their kids nice things but yet they are always having drinking parties at their house. It has been a while since I quit drinking but I doubt alcohol has become free since then. In their case it is not having enough money but having the wrong priorities. I have a neighbor who always spending his money on the newest gadgets, speakers, rims, High Def TV, stereos and this guy has four kids, it's the same story wrong priorities in life. The Bible says that pursuing money and greed is sinful but how we spend the money can be just as sinful. The Bible speaks so much about charity and giving. It also says it is a man's responsibilty to provide for his family. I use to drink and party a lot when I was young, now that I am older I look back at those days and realize how wasteful it all was, not only in money, but time that could of been better spent. After I got married and had kids I left that life behind because I knew I had a big responsibilty now, not only to my new family but also to a Lord I had drifted away from. In the parable about the talents the servant who used his talent wisely received more while the servant who did not had his taken away. I believe the same could of be said about money. If we are not faithful in how we spend our money why would God award us by blessing us with more.

Mark 7:20-23
20 He said, "That which proceeds out of the man, that defiles the man. 21 For from within, out of the hearts of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, sexual sins, murders, thefts, 22 covetings, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness. 23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man." There is only two people who truly know what is in your heart, you and God. And you can't fool God. You could argue that you could fool yourself but God truly knows what is in your heart.

Psalm 39:4-7
4 “Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered— how fleeting my life is. 5 You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand. My entire lifetime is just a moment to you; at best, each of us is but a breath.”
6 We are merely moving shadows, and all our busy rushing ends in nothing. We heap up wealth, not knowing who will spend it. 7 And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in you.

Mark 4:14-20
14 The farmer sows the word. 15 These are the ones by the road, where the word is sown; and when they have heard, immediately Satan comes, and takes away the word which has been sown in them. 16 These in like manner are those who are sown on the rocky places, who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with joy. 17 They have no root in themselves, but are short-lived. When oppression or persecution arises because of the word, immediately they stumble. 18 Others are those who are sown among the thorns. These are those who have heard the word, 19 and the cares of this age, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. 20 These are those which were sown on the good ground: such as hear the word, and accept it, and bear fruit, some thirty times, some sixty times, and some one hundred times.” If you have ever done any gardening or farming you know that you need good fertile gound to be successful, well here in this parable Jesus is comparing our hearts to different kinds of soil. The word of God needs a good fertile, accepting heart to grow and blossom. It needs to grow deep and put down good solid roots in our heart. A plant without good deep roots wont stand the storms and the hard times that is thrown against and neither will the Christian without good deep roots in the word of God. Every good gardner knows you have to keep the weeds away from your garden. In other words you have to keep your plants clear of the junk that can harm them. Same with Christians we have to stay away from the junk that can distract us from God. Every great garden is succesful because someone times fertilizing and caring for their garden and ever successful Christian is successful because they spend time studying the word of God, and mediating on God, and spending time in prayer and by successful I mean reaping the harvest of time spent sowning the word of God in the world.

Psalm 37:8
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Don’t fret, it leads only to evildoing. Nothing any good ever comes from anger. Certain people I work with have a tendacy to push my buttons. I have learned it is better to just walk away than try to argue with them. I aint going to prove anything by arguing with them and getting angry doesn't solve differences. I just continue to do what I think is right and don't let them get me frustrated.

Proverbs 10:2
2 Tainted wealth has no lasting value, but right living can save your life. I have always wonder about people who chose a life of crime. Sure you might get rich by selling drugs or other criminal means but sooner or later you are going to get caught and than how much is that money worth why you are in prison or dead

Matthew 28:18-20
18 Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things which I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. These verses are often referred to as The Great Commission, Jesus commission believers to go out unto the world and spread the gospel. Every believer has this responsibilty to spread the word of God. Believers are described many ways in the Bible, as farmers spreading the seed, as fishers casting nets, as ambassadors representing Christ, as soldiers fighting evil but no where is believers described as benchwarmers. No where in the Bible did Christ say recieve the gift of salvation and do nothing with it. We have an obligation to tell others about the gift of salvation that we have recieved.

Psalm 34:1-10
1 I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises. 2 I will boast only in the Lord; let all who are helpless take heart. 3 Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness; let us exalt his name together. 4 I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. 5 Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. 6 In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles. 7 For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him. 8 Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! 9 Fear the Lord, you his godly people, for those who fear him will have all they need. 10 Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing.

Psalm 33:13-15
13 The Lord looks down from heaven and sees the whole human race. 14 From his throne he observes all who live on the earth. 15 He made their hearts, so he understands everything they do. I am glad that God understands mankind because I surely don't. I joke with my wife sometimes that when I retire I want to move to the middle of the woods where we wont have to deal with any other people. But dealing with other people is part of life no matter how much some people irritate us. We just have to pray for patience and continue to show love and resist the temptation to lash out at the ones that do get under our skins.

Psalm 33:11
11 But the Lord’s plans stand firm forever; his intentions can never be shaken. Athiest really make me laugh. What do they really expect to accomplish. Christanity has been around for over 2000 years but yet they think they are going to end it. They really don't know who they are fighting against. The Bible says if the people were to stop praising the Lord then the rocks would call out in praise of his name.

Psalm 32
1 Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! 2 Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! 3 When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. 4 Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat.
5 Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.
6 Therefore, let all the godly pray to you while there is still time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment. 7 For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory.
8 The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. 9 Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.” 10 Many sorrows come to the wicked, but unfailing love surrounds those who trust the Lord. 11 So rejoice in the Lord and be glad, all you who obey him! Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure!

Matthew 26:39
39 He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, "My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine." Jesus was about to suffer a terrible ordeal but he prayed that God's will be done. How many of us are truly willing to surrender to God's complete will for our life's. That is completely accept God's plan for our life's. It is human nature to want to be the one in control. But we need to be faithful and realize God has a plan for our life's and it might be contary to what we have planned but God has a overall plan that we play a role in. We don't see the big picture that is planned but we just need to realized God is in control and have faith he has our best interest in mind. There are things that happened in my life I didn't understand at the time but I realize now happen to get me to where I am now. And I believe I am where I am now because that is where God wants me and I accept that because I know he is in control and has a plan for my life as he does for everyone of his children.

Proverbs 8:1-11
| | | 1 Doesn’t wisdom cry out? Doesn’t understanding raise her voice? 2 On the top of high places by the way, Where the paths meet, she stands. 3 Beside the gates, at the entry of the city, At the entry doors, she cries aloud: 4 “To you men, I call! I send my voice to the sons of mankind. 5 You simple, understand prudence. You fools, be of an understanding heart. 6 Hear, for I will speak excellent things. The opening of my lips is for right things. 7 For my mouth speaks truth. Wickedness is an abomination to my lips. 8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness. There is nothing crooked or perverse in them. 9 They are all plain to him who understands, Right to those who find knowledge. 10 Receive my instruction rather than silver; Knowledge rather than choice gold. 11 For wisdom is better than rubies. All the things that may be desired can’t be compared to it. Can you imagine a world were people sought Godly wisdom instead of money, power and the lusts of the flesh? The Bible says wisdom is better than riches, right, so why aint more people seeking it? |

Psalm 29
1 Honor the Lord, you heavenly beings; honor the Lord for his glory and strength. 2 Honor the Lord for the glory of his name. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness. 3 The voice of the Lord echoes above the sea. The God of glory thunders. The Lord thunders over the mighty sea. 4 The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic. 5 The voice of the Lord splits the mighty cedars; the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon. 6 He makes Lebanon’s mountains skip like a calf; he makes Mount Hermon leap like a young wild ox. 7 The voice of the Lord strikes with bolts of lightning. 8 The voice of the Lord makes the barren wilderness quake; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. 9 The voice of the Lord twists mighty oaks and strips the forests bare. In his Temple everyone shouts, “Glory!” 10 The Lord rules over the floodwaters. The Lord reigns as king forever. 11 The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.

Psalm 27:7-14
7 Hear me as I pray, O Lord. Be merciful and answer me! 8 My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.” 9 Do not turn your back on me. Do not reject your servant in anger. You have always been my helper. Don’t leave me now; don’t abandon me, O God of my salvation! 10 Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close. 11 Teach me how to live, O Lord. Lead me along the right path, for my enemies are waiting for me. 12 Do not let me fall into their hands. For they accuse me of things I’ve never done; with every breath they threaten me with violence. 13 Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. 14 Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.

Psalm 26
1 Judge me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity. I have trusted also in the Lord without wavering. 2 Examine me, O Lord, and prove me. Try my heart and my mind. 3 For your loving kindness is before my eyes. I have walked in your truth. 4 I have not sat with deceitful men, Neither will I go in with hypocrites. 5 I hate the assembly of evil-doers, And will not sit with the wicked. 6 I will wash my hands in innocence, So I will go about your altar, O Lord; 7 That I may make the voice of thanksgiving to be heard, And tell of all your wondrous works. 8 O Lord, I love the habitation of your house, The place where your glory dwells. 9 Don’t gather my soul with sinners, Nor my life with bloodthirsty men; 10 In whose hands is wickedness, Their right hand is full of bribes. 11 But as for me, I will walk in my integrity. Redeem me, and be merciful to me. 12 My foot stands in an even place. In the congregations I will bless the Lord.
