Revelation 22: 1: And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

2: In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

3: And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

4: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.

5: And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

6: And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.

7: Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

8: And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.

9: Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.

10: And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.

11: He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

12: And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

13: I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

14: Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

15: For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

16: I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

17: And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

18: For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

20: He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

21: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Jesus is coming.  Have no doubt about that.  Many critics point out that Jesus died 2000 years ago.  Well first things happen according to the will of God not man.  Second the Bible says a 1000 years as of one day to God.  God is eternal man is not.  The average lifetime of a human is around 75 years.  We like to judge time according to our standard not God’s.  But I know Jesus is coming back because the Bible says he is coming back.  It spells out what is going to happen before he comes back, it spells how is coming back, and it spells out what is going to happen when he comes back.  Nobody can change that.  If you are a servant of God your reward is eternal life in heaven serving God, if you are not a child of God your fate is the lake of fire and eternal damnation.  Why do I believe that?  Because the Bible says so.  Many try to change God and the Bible to fit their ideas of how things should be.  This chapter spells it out.  Try to change God’s word and suffer the consequences for doing so.

Revelation 21: 1: And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2: And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3: And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4: And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5: And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6: And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7: He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
8: But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
9: And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.
10: And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
       11: Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
12: And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
13: On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.
14: And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15: And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.
16: And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
17: And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.
18: And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.
       19: And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;
20: The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.
21: And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
22: And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
23: And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
24: And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
25: And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
26: And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.
27: And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life

The previous chapters of Revelation had showed the fury of God’s wrath on the ungodly now we get to see a beautiful picture of the reward for the Godly.  This is just a glimpse of Heaven.  No words could ever completely describe heaven.  Just like no words could ever completely describe God and the mystery of God.  But beware this is a award for the children of God, those who have accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior.  Verse 8 makes it clear not all will enter in no matter what some preachers might preach today.

Revelation 19: 11: And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12: His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13: And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14: And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15: And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16: And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
       17: And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
18: That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
19: And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
20: And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
21: And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

Revelation 20: 1: And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

2: And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

3: And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

4: And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

5: But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

6: Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

7: And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

8: And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

9: And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

10: And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

11: And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12: And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13: And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14: And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15: And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

There is a so called minister of the Universalists type that is very popular on the internet.  Most Universalists and others of the liberal type write off the Book of Revelation and other parts of the Bible that take about hell, judgment, and eternal damnation as being falsehood.  But this particular man has come up with the craziest thing I have every heard to explain the lake of fire.  According to him the lake of fire is a place of purification.  He teaches that we will go through the lake of fire to get purified before going to heaven.  What foolishness, but I guess Universalists have to explain away hell somehow.  But what is scary is how many fall for this craziness.  Most I would say are good people that have a hard time dealing with the truth of the judgment of God but a lot just don’t take the time to study the Bible for themselves and the result is that they fall prey to foolishness like this.  It is just crazy, that is the best I can explain it.  The lake of fire is very, very real and if your name is not written in the Book of Life you will experience it.

Revelation 18: 9: And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,

10: Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.

11: And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:

12: The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,

13: And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.

14: And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.

15: The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,

16: And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!

17: For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,

18: And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!

19: And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.

20: Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

21: And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

    22: And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;

23: And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

24: And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

Revelation 19:1: And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:

2: For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

3: And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.

4: And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.

5: And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.

6: And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.

7: Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

8: And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

9: And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

10: And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

No one is happy to see others get punished but true Christians realize this is a reality instead of denying the truth of God’s righteous judgment.  God doesn’t need anyone to apologize for him.  He has given mankind 2000 years to repent of their wickedness instead they continue to turn from him.  What kind of righteous God would not punish evil?  The mark of a true child of God is his distress at the immoral conduct around him.  A true child of God does not condone, support, or take part in the immoral deeds of society.

Revelation 17:7: And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.

8: The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

9: And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.

10: And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.

11: And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

12: And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

13: These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.

14: These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

15: And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

16: And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.

17: For God hath put in their hearts to fulfill his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.

18: And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

Revelation 18: 1: And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.

2: And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

3: For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.

4: And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

5: For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

6: Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.

7: How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

8: Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

I think the whore that is sitteth on the beast represents religious Babylon, the world religious system that will come to power during the last days.  I think we see a rise of this religious system today in New Age Christianity and in liberal Christianity.  I think we see it in those denominations that rejected true Christianity for the new watered down politically correct version of Christianity you see being taught in a lot of mainline Protestant churches.  I think you see it in churches like the Episcopal Church of America which in my view is a sell out church.  The Catholic Church is headed that way.  The Universal Unitarian Church has always been a heretic church from day one.  Any church that rejects the doctrine that Christ is the only way to heaven is part of the whore.

I think Babylon in Chapter 18 represents the ungodly world system that will come to power in the last days.  I think we also see this coming to power today also.  I truly believe we see the stage being set for the final act in today’s headlines.  The globalization of the world economy.  The growing power of the EU and its growing hostility toward Israel.  The continued liberalization of the West and the growing hostility toward Christianity in the West.  I think we are already in the beginning stages of the falling away from God as described in the Bible.  Western Europe which was once the homeland of Western Christianity is now predominately secular and the U.S. is following suite.  In 1948 91% of Americans confess to be Christian, today that number has fallen to 78% and a good percentage of those are non practing Christians or liberal Christians who confess Jesus is not the only way to heaven.  But one thing you can be sure of is that with each passing day those things prophesied in this book is one more day closer to happening.

Revelation 16: 1: And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.

2: And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.

3: And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.

4: And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood.

5: And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus.

6: For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.

7: And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.

8: And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.

9: And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

10: And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,

11: And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.

12: And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.

13: And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

14: For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

15: Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

16: And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

17: And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.

18: And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.

19: And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

20: And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.

21: And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.

Revelation 17:1: And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:

2: With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

3: So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

4: And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:

5: And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

6: And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

A lot of people choose to see God as some kind of grandfatherly figure that sets in the clouds, plays the harp and loves everybody.  They have a hard time dealing with a wrathful God.  They have a hard time understanding how a loving God and can also render such harsh judgment on the world as portrayed in the Book of Revelation.  God is a loving God but he is also a God of righteousness, therefore evil must be punished.  What kind of loving and righteous God would allow evil to go unpunished.  Mankind has been warn over and over again about the coming judgment of God and they still refuse to submit to the will of God.  Jesus died on the cross 2000 years ago and the Bible was completed shortly after that.  Mankind has had the Bible for 2000 years to warn them of the coming judgment of God.  I think that shows just how loving and patient God truly is.  He has given mankind 2000 years to repent instead the world continues to turn from God leaving him no choice but to render judgment on the world.  What is written in this book will come to pass, no one has the power to stop the Almighty God from making his will come to pass.

    Bible Study 25 DEC

Revelation 14: 6: And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

7: Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

8: And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

9: And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

10: The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

11: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

12: Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

13: And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

14: And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

15: And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.

16: And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.

17: And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.

18: And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.

19: And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

20: And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

Revelation 15: 1: And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.

2: And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.

3: And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.

4: Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

5: And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened:

6: And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles.

7: And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever.

8: And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.

Today we celebrate the birth of our Savior but on this day let’s remember why he came to earth in the first place.  He came to earth and died on the cross that through his blood which was shed on the cross we might have the remission of sins and through him have eternal salvation from the wrath of God.  Before Christ died on the cross for us we were all doomed to face God’s wrath as sinners.  Paul said we are all sinners and worthy of death because the penalty of sin is death.  But Christ paved a way for us to escape the penalty of sin by repenting of our sins and accepting him as our Lord and Savior.  Those that refuse to accept Christ as the Lord faces the wrath of God as described in this book.

    Bible Reading DEC 24

Revelation 13: 1: And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

2: And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

3: And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

4: And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

5: And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.

6: And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

7: And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

8: And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

9: If any man have an ear, let him hear.

10: He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

11: And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

12: And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

13: And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

14: And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

15: And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

16: And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

17: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18: Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Revelation 14: 1: And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.

2: And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:

3: And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.

4: These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.

5: And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.

Let me tell there are many already worshiping the beast.  There are many that is given themselves wholeheartedly to the lifestyle promoted by the beast.  A lifestyle of self above all others. In my view the New Age Movement is Satanism in disguise.  The New Age movement teaches each and everyone of is a god. Our modern society promotes a lifestyle of materialism and secularism.  A lifestyle promoted by Hollywood and modern pop culture.  If you want a real eye opener do research on Aleister Crowley and his influence on modern pop culture.  Aleister Crowley was a Satanist that lived from 1875-1947.  Mr Crowley stated he wanted to start a new world order and to do that he needed to breakdown the family unit which he saw as the bond that held society together.  To do that he promoted homosexuality and widespread drug use.  Sound familiar, check out the headlines in today’s news.  Mr. Crowley himself admitted to having sex with over a 100 underage boys.  Who would want to be associated with such a person?  Well Ozzy Osborne wrote a song called “Mr Crowley.”  Mr. Crowley is displayed on the album cover of the Beatles “SGT Peppers Lonely Heart Band.  Others who claimed to be influenced by the writings of Crowley include Jimmy Page, Mick Jagger, Iron Madien, Daryl Hall, David Bowie, L. Ron Hubbard and others.  I listened to hard rock when I was young and I thought a lot of the Satanist overtones where just gimmicks but if you really look into it there is a lot of connections between Rock music and the occult.  Think about it how much influence does the music industry have over the young people in our society.  How much influence does Hollywood have over our society?  These are perfect tools for Satan to use to destroy the moral fiber of our society.  And it is no secret that Hollywood is heavily liberal and heavily anti- Christian.  Here is a link to check out some of this stuff for yourself.

    Bible Reading 23 DEC

Revelation 11:14: The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.

15: And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

16: And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,

17: Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.

18: And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

19: And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

Revelation 12: 1: And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

2: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

3: And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.

4: And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

5: And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

6: And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

7: And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

8: And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

9: And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

10: And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

11: And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

12: Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

13: And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

14: And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

15: And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

16: And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

17: And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Don’t be deceived there is spiritual warfare being waged all around us.  It is a war with no neutrals and it is a war were all is at stake.  It is a war over the souls of these world..  Your soul either belongs to God or it belongs to Satan, there is no neutrals and there is no gray area.  You are either a servant of God or you are a servant of Satan.  If you haven’t given yourself to Christ then you belong to Satan and hell is your destiny.

    Bible Reading DEC 22

Revelation 10: 1: And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:
2: And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,
3: And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.
4: And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.
5: And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,
6: And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:
7: But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
8: And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
9: And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
10: And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
11: And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

Revelation 11: 1: And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.
2: But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
3: And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
4: These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
5: And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
6: These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
7: And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
8: And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
9: And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
10: And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
11: And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.
12: And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.
13: And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

Make no mistake about it the Book of Revelation is a book of prophecy, a book of things to come.  Some of the prophecy has already come to pass but most is still yet to happen.  These two chapters tell of things that are still yet to happen but don’t be deceived all things written in this book and the rest of the Bible will happen.  It is God’s word and God is faithful to his word and no power is strong enough to prevent God’s will from happening.  These things will happen.

    John 7:1-9

1: After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.
2: Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand.
3: His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest.
4: For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world.
5: For neither did his brethren believe in him.
6: Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is always ready.
7: The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.
8: Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come.
9: When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee.

The world hated Jesus can we not expect it to hate us.  Seriously if you are one of these Christians unwilling to make a stand in your faith because you are scared you may be unlike you need to do some deep soul searching and see where your heart is truly at.  The world hated Christ because he convicted them of their sin.  If you are a strong in your faith the world is going to hate you to because you are WILLING TO BE INTOLERANT OF SIN.  Look at our society today.  Anyone who takes a stand against the decadent nature of our society is labeled intolerant and hateful.  Well they are right I will not tolerant sin and hate the decadent nature of our society and I will not apologize for that.

    John 6:60-71

60: Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?
61: When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?
62: What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
63: It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
64: But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.
65: And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.
66: From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
67: Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
68: Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
69: And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
70: Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
71: He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.

Let me tell you the words of Christ was offensive.  The Jews considered themselves God’s chosen people and didn’t want to hear that they were sinners in need of a Savior.  They wanted Jesus to overthrow the Romans and restore the Jewish kingdom not preach at them and tell them they need to repent of their sins.  Well nothing has changed in 2000 years, people don’t want to hear that they are sinners in need of repentance.  They want their ears tickled and told they are going to heaven no matter what.  Well let the Universalists lie to them, I will tell them the truth until you accept Jesus as your Savior and repent of your sins hell is where you are heading.  If you find that offensive then more then likely you are either a Christian without a spine bone to tell people the truth or you are heading the wrong way in life yourself.  True Christianity is offensive to the world.  People don’t want to hear that living to party is wrong, that pursuing material gain is wrong, that sexual immorality is wrong, that homosexuality is wrong, that any other way to heaven besides thru Jesus is a false hope that leads to eternal damnation.  But time is running out, the day is drawing to an end, we need to stop worrying about appeasing people and tell them the hard truth before it is to late.  If you have not accepted Christ as your Savior your fate is eternal damnation.  Accept him now before it is to late.  Once you have taken your last breath it is to late to change your ways.

    John 6:41-59

41: The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.
42: And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?
43: Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.
44: No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
45: It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
46: Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.
47: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
48: I am that bread of life.
49: Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
50: This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
51: I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
52: The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
53: Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
54: Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
55: For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
56: He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
57: As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
58: This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
59: These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

Unless you have the Son in your heart you will never see eternal life your fate will be eternal punishment.  The only way to heaven as described by Jesus himself is through him.  There is no other way.  Any other way is a lie and a false hope that only leads to destruction.  If you don’t have Son in your heart your fate is hell.

    John 6:21-40

     22: The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;
23: (Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:)
24: When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.
25: And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?
26: Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.
27: Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
28: Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
29: Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
30: They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?
31: Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
32: Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
33: For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
34: Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
35: And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
36: But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
37: All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
38: For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
39: And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
40: And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

The will of God is that all come to him.  This is the reason Jesus came to earth, to pave the way that all might have a relationship with the Father.  It is a relationship of faith.  Faith that Jesus is the Son of God and that God is the God of the universe and there is no other gods.  This is what we all are trying to accomplish, that the whole may hear that God is God of the universe there is no other gods and we all must come into a relationship with him through his Son Jesus Christ.

    John 6:16-21

16 That evening Jesus’ disciples went down to the shore to wait for him. 17 But as darkness fell and Jesus still hadn’t come back, they got into the boat and headed across the lake toward Capernaum. 18 Soon a gale swept down upon them, and the sea grew very rough. 19 They had rowed three or four miles[d] when suddenly they saw Jesus walking on the water toward the boat. They were terrified, 20 but he called out to them, “Don’t be afraid. I am here![e]21 Then they were eager to let him in the boat, and immediately they arrived at their destination!  (NLT)

You imagine in your darkest hour when all seems lost Jesus appears and says “don’t be afraid.  I am here.”  Wouldn’t that be the sweetest words ever.  Don’t be afraid, I am here.  In fact he never leaves us or forsakes us.

    John 6:1-15

1: After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.
2: And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.
3: And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.
4: And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.
5: When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?
6: And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.
7: Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.
8: One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,
9: There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
10: And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
11: And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
12: When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
13: Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.
14: Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.
15: When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

Jesus was testing his disciples.  It says in verse 6 that he already knew what he would do.  Someone ask what is the point of faith if God already knows what he is going to do.  Well first I would be the last person to claim to know the will of God but I do know faith is very important to God.  He wants us to come to him in faith that he is the Almighty God of heaven and earth and that he does care for us and loves us very much.  My faith is this.  God is in control and that all things happen according to his will.  I believe in that God created heaven and earth.  That Jesus is his one and only Son and that Jesus was born of a virgin, that he lived a sinless life, that he died on the cross for us, that he rose again on the third day and that is returning someday for his people and that he will judge this world of its sin.

    John 5:31-47

31: If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.

32: There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.

33: Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.

34: But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved.

35: He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.

36: But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

37: And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

38: And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.

39: Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

40: And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

41: I receive not honour from men.

42: But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.

43: I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

44: How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?

45: Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.

46: For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.

47: But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

The Jewish leaders thought that they had all the answers.  They thought they knew the scriptures.  Yet they did not recognize the Messiah when he arrived even though they were expecting him.  They were so involved in their religious rituals that they actually failed to truly serve God.  Don’t get so involved in playing church that you actually fail to worship and serve God.

    John 5:16-30

16So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jews persecuted him. 17Jesus said to them, "My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working." 18For this reason the Jews tried all the harder to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

19Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. 20For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these. 21For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. 22Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.

24"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. 25I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. 26For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself. 27And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man.

28"Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice 29and come out—those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned. 30By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me. (NIV)

Jesus is the only Son of God there is no doubt about that.  Don’t be fooled by anyone who tries to reduce Jesus to some kind of great teacher like he is some kind of guru.  He is the Son of God, the WAY, the one and only way to God.  And those who reject the way their fate is described in verse 29.

    John 5:1-15

1: After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2: Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
3: In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
4: For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
5: And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
6: When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
7: The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
8: Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
9: And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
10: The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.
11: He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.
12: Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?
13: And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.
14: Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
15: The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.

Jesus had just healed a man but what did the Jews see?  In their eyes Jesus had just broken one of their rules.  The Sabbath had been set aside by God as a day of rest and a day of worship to God.  Hadn’t Jesus brought honor to God by freeing this man?  But the real beef the Jews had with Jesus was jealously.  They were jealous Of Jesus’ popularity, they were jealous that the people were coming to Jesus instead of the Jewish leaders.  They saw Jesus as a threat to their hold of power over the Jewish people.  The heart of these leaders were far from the will of God.  As leaders in the church our responsibility is always to place the will of God over our own.

    John 4:46-54

46: So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47: When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
48: Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
49: The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
50: Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
51: And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
52: Then inquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53: So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
54: This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.

What is faith?  Hebrews 11:1 says 1Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. (NIV)

How do we get faith?  Romans says 17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (KJV)

Why is faith important?  Hebrews 11:6And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (NIV)

In four places in the Bible it says the just shall live by faith.  The word faith is mentioned 335 plus times in the Bible (depending on which version you use).  The point: faith is important we must walk by faith for without faith we can’t please God.  It is in faith that we come to Christ that he is the Son of God, that he did die for our sins and that he is the one and only way to salvation.

    John 4:43-45

43 At the end of the two days, Jesus went on to Galilee. 44 He himself had said that a prophet is not honored in his own hometown. 45 Yet the Galileans welcomed him, for they had been in Jerusalem at the Passover celebration and had seen everything he did there.  (NLT)

Why is it that a prophet is not honored in his own hometown?  I am no prophet but I left home at a very young age and joined the Army.  Before I left home I was plenty of trouble to my parents.  I was always getting in trouble in school and with the law.  I used drugs, I drank a lot, and I ran around with several different girls.  I really grew up a lot in the Army and while I was in the Army I met my wife and settled down.  It was during this time I came back to the God I had been taught about by my preacher grandfather but had drifted away from during my teenage years.  I am a totally different person from that reckless teenage boy I was 20 years ago.  But no matter how much I change there will be those who remembers me as the wild 17 year old that left home and joined the Army.  All I can do is pray that they see the influence that God has had in my life and how much a difference God has made in me.

    John 4:39-42

39: And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
40: So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
       41: And many more believed because of his own word;
42: And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

Most Jews of Jesus day would have never associated with a Samaritan.  The Samaritans were considered an inferior race.  They were a race of mixed Jews and foreigners.  But Jesus the Son of God didn’t get wrapped around bigoted viewpoints.  He told the good news of salvation first to a woman of poor reputation who told the good news to everyone she knew who came to Jesus to hear the good news first hand and many believed his message.  But what if Jesus had kept to the Jewish way of ignoring the Samaritans?  These people who had never heard the Gospel and would have continued to be lost.  Jesus said it is not the healthy who needs a doctor but the sick. Well it is the lost who needs a Savior and they will never get to meet that Savior unless Christians get out of the church pews and into the streets to tell the good news of salvation, that means all of us.

    john 4:27-38

27: And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
28: The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
29: Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
30: Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
31: In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
32: But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
33: Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
34: Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
35: Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
36: And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
37: And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38: I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours

I have a strong desire to serve the Lord.  I don’t always show it.  Just like Paul said I often do what I don’t want to do and what I want to do I don’t do.  But I know God has put a calling in my life.  I just have to be faithful and willing to let God use me to bring about his purpose for me.  God has a purpose for each and everyone of us and that purpose is spelled out in these verses.  There is a harvest that needs to be reaped.  That harvest needs servants of God to reap what has been sowed.  Are you that willing servant he is looking for?  Or are you a bench warmer, more than happy to let others do all the work?  Will you stand before God and be proud of the service you did in his name?

    John 4:1-26

1: When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
2: (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)
3: He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
4: And he must needs go through Samaria.
5: Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6: Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7: There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8: (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9: Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10: Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11: The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12: Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13: Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15: The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
16: Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17: The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18: For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
19: The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20: Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21: Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22: Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23: But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24: God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
25: The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26: Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

We as Christians are directed to take the Gospel throughout the world, the whole world.  Jesus said it is not the healthy that needs a doctor but the sick.  Well it is not the saved that need a Savior it is the unsaved, the lost, the sinner.  It is the drug user, the alcoholic, the gang banger, the prostitute that needs to hear the Gospel.  To many times as Christians we spend our time with other Christians and totally turn a blind eye and upturned nose to the sinner.  Jesus spent his time preaching to the lost, the adulteress, the tax collector, the Roman.  Shouldn’t we follow his example and take the good news to the lost that need to hear it and spend less time preaching to the choir.
