    Luke 21:34-37

34: And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

35: For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

36: Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

37: And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.

38: And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him.

Jesus is coming again.  There is no doubt about that.  At least for me there is no doubt.  There are many that have been deceived into thinking that he is not but don’t be fooled yourselves, he is coming again.  The question is will you be ready when he does come again?  Have you been born again, washed pure in the blood of Jesus which was shed for our sins on the cross?  Where is your destiny?  Heaven or hell?  And you better believe hell is a very real place.  A destination for all who live without Christ in their lives.  Because it is only through Jesus that we have access to heaven and the Father.

    Luke 21:25-33

     25: And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
26: Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
27: And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
28: And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
       29: And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
30: When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
31: So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
32: Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
33: Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

Don’t be fooled the final chapter hasn’t been written, Jesus is coming again to judge the quick and the dead.  I hear so many of these new age liberal preachers spreading this message that heaven is here on earth.  That heaven is peace with God and your fellow man.  That Jesus isn’t coming to take us to heaven, that this is it, that there want be a coming day of judgment.  What garbage.  Don’t be fooled.  Read the Bible.  It says clearly Jesus is coming again, there will be a day of judgment, and heaven and hell is very, very real.  Where will you stand on judgment day?  Where will you spend eternity?  Being a good person isn’t good enough.  You have to be saved in the blood of Jesus.  You have to have Jesus as your Savior.  There is only one way to heaven and Jesus is the way.  The way is through the blood he shed on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins that through his blood we might have the forgiveness of sins.

    Luke 21:5-24

5: And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,
6: As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
7: And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?
8: And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.
9: But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.
10: Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
11: And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
12: But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
13: And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
14: Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:
15: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
16: And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
17: And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.
18: But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
19: In your patience possess ye your souls.
20: And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
21: Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
22: For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
23: But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.
24: And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

There are many who claim to be Christian deny the fact that Jesus is returning some day.  Not only is he returning but he will judge this world of its wickedness.  What will your fate be on judgment day?  Will God say well done good and faithful servant or will he say depart from, I never knew you?

    Luke 21:1-4

1: And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.
2: And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.
3: And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:
4: For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

In the days of Jesus poor widows were often at the mercy of their families to be taken care of.  There was no social service organizations to take care of them and this was one of the arguments Jesus brought against the Jewish leaders that they ignored the poor God had instructed them to take care of.  So this really was  not only a sacrifice for this woman but a tremendous act of faith.  She gave all that she had knowing no one was going help out of her situation but she had faith that God would provide.

    Luke 20:45-47

45: Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples,

    46: Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;

47: Which devour widows' houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.

For the Jewish religious leaders worship and become an empty, ritualistic show.  Their heart was not in true worship of God.  They loved the praises of men more than God.  They loved the power they held over the people more than God.  God wants true spirit led heartfelt worship.  As Jesus said those that worship him must do so in spirit and in truth.  How many churches today fall into the trap of letting their worship fall into a routine of rituals.  How many pastors today fall into the same trap as the Jewish leaders who loved the power and the praise of men more than serving God.  The Christian faith has a bad name among many people of the world and it aint nothing Christ did but by those that claim to represent him.  Much evil has been done in the name of Christianity by men who had nothing to do with Christ.  We must reverse this and show that Christianity is a religion of love and peace and that we worship the true God.  We must witness to people and show the true love of God.  This is a matter of life and death because without coming to Christ, the only true way to God and heaven, their fate is death and hell.  We must follow the great commission and spread the word of God throughout the nations of the world.  Satan has deceived the world and the world is cloaked in darkness we must bring the light of God into this darken world.

    Luke 20:41-44

41: And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's son?
42: And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
43: Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
44: David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?

The Jewish leaders had their turn with the questions now Jesus asked them a question.  The Jewish leaders were looking for a physical Messiah.  A descendant of David that would restore the Kingdom of David and overthrow the Romans.  They failed to understand that the Messiah would be so much more.  The Son of God had come to establish a spiritual, eternal kingdom that included the whole world not just the Jews.  A kingdom established in his blood which was shed for the whole world on the cross.

    Luke 20:27-40

27: Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,
28: Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
29: There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.
30: And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.
31: And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.
32: Last of all the woman died also.
33: Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.
34: And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:
35: But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
36: Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
37: Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
38: For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.
39: Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said.
40: And after that they durst not ask him any question at all.

The Sadducess denied belief in the coming resurrection.  Today we still have modern Sadducess in the “Christian” world.  I said “Christian” world because there are many religious groups out there that claim to be Christian or believers in God but are really nothing more than cults or at worst just plain crazy loons.  But some of these groups deny a second coming of Christ, a heaven or a hell.  They claim these present world is heaven or hell.  That this world is heaven or hell based on how you live it.  How sad if they believe this world is it, that there is nothing more.  God has so much in store for us if we accept his gift of salvation.  The end of the Book of Revelation gives us a brief glimpse of heaven and what is in store for believers but it also gives us a scary look at what awaits non-believers and those that live in rebellion to God without Christ as their Savior.

    Luke 20:20-26

20: And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.
21: And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly:
22: Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no?
23: But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me?
24: Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Caesar's.
25: And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.
26: And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace

Once again the Jewish leaders were trapping to Jesus but in turn show their own hypocrisy.  They come to him praising him but in reality they wanted to trap him so they can have him killed.  They saw him as threat to their hold on the Jewish people and really didn’t care that he might be the Messiah.  After all they knew the scriptures, they had seen the miracles performed but yet they refused to yield to him.  They were more concerned with the pleasures of the world then seeking the kingdom of God.  Not so far different from today, we have many who are more concerned with being men pleasers than God pleasers.  They turn the word of God into a lie in a vain effort to try not a offend anyone.  What fools all of mankind will be judged by the God they refused to recognize.

    Luke 20:9-19

9: Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.
10: And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.
11: And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.
12: And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out.
13: Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him.
14: But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.
15: So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them?
16: He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.
17: And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?
18: Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
19: And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.

Jesus had spoken this parable against them.  God had sent prophet after prophet to Israel and they had killed them and continued in their rebellion.  Now God had sent his own Son and they will kill him also.  The Jewish nation rejected Christ and God destroyed Israel as a nation until modern times.

    Luke 20:1-8

1: And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders,
2: And spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority?
3: And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me:
4: The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men?
5: And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not?
6: But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet.
7: And they answered, that they could not tell whence it was.
8: And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

This is the Jewish leaders caught in their own trap.  They wanted to trap Jesus in his words but he turned their own trap upon them.  They couldn’t answer him because either way it would show their own hypocrisy.  They weren’t interested in finding out who Jesus truly was they were more interested in the threat he was to their hold on the Jewish people.  There is many out there that teach that the Jews are still God’s chosen people.  They were God’s chosen people.  We are God’s chosen people.  The Jewish nation rejected and murder Christ.  Now all believers who accept Christ as their Savior is God’s chosen people.  The Jewish nation has to accept Christ just as any other peoples to receive salvation.  Ones ethnicity doesn’t guarantee any one a free pass to heaven.

    Luke 19:45-48

      45: And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought;

46: Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves.

47: And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,

48: And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.

Paul says we are the temple of God.  Are you?  Or are you a house of sin and filth?  Do you need Jesus to drive the sin out of the temple?
