    Try Jesus

Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. - Matthew 11: 28

The greatest invitation in all the world is found in this verse.  To think that God the Creator of the universe, welcomes me to come to Him is the joy of my life. He invites all to come to Him and find rest in spirit and soul. Take his yolk of fellowship, and become His disciple.  There is so much to learn about Jesus.  He is meek and lowly.  He will take all your cares and bear them for you. We no longer have to carry our load of sin, for He is the burden bearer. Give Him a try and find out for yourself.

    Give Jesus A Try

    Are you feeling kindly lonely
Let Him be your one and only

Are you down hearted and sad
    Let Him make you glad

Are you longing for a true friend
Let Him, all your cares mend

    He loves you so much
He has a very special touch

Why not give Jesus a try.

    He is standing nearby

    Waiting, on you

    To start life anew

    Jesus My Friend

... There is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24

    ~Friendship With Jesus~

In times of trouble and disaster

    He is the Master

Resting in His warmth and comfort

    You will never fall short

    Jesus is my friend

    To the end

    When hunger overtakes me

    Bread of Life he'll be

    My dearest friend

    Jesus

    When deep loneliness overtakes me

    To him I flee

    Reaching for His Almighty Hand

    Friendship so grand

    Together we enjoy friendship

    I'm safe in His grip

I recommend this friend to you

No one else will ever do

    A lifetime friend

    Strong Soldiers for Christ

    ~Be Strong~

.... Endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. -2 Timothy 2:3

Paul made it clear that we would have to endure some trials in life. Think it not strange concerning the fiery trials, which shall come your way. We do not always have a bed of roses in life, but one thing we are sure of is our eternal home. Down here on earth, we are to be a good soldier for Christ.

We are commanded to be strong for our advisory Satan seeks to devour. Be strong in the grace in Christ for we will have to endure hardness as a good soldier. Be not entangled with the affairs of this life, but strive to please God who raised Jesus from the dead. The Lord will help us as we fight the good fight. Paul said, " Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory."

    Give Him a Ring Today

    ~Call Unto Me ~

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. -Jeremiah 33:3

One of the greatest promises in the Bible is where God said He would hear and answer our call. It is so good to go through life knowing that the blessed Lord longs for us to call to Him. He answers us and shows us His great riches. Sinful ones know nothing of the great things of God, but He is willing to forgive them when they ask Him to fulfilling this great promise. Of "things which you know not". He is certainly able to do all things. He will heal our land, restore broken homes, and heal the sick and oppressed. Just call on Him today. His mercy endures forever. Ask for mighty inaccessible, unfathomable things.

    God's Hand

    ~~Hand Of God~~

He is not far from everyone of us. Neither is He hard to find.  His hand is extended today to all who will trust Him. Man tends to hide from God since the days of Adam.  His great hand of love is on His children

Attend to the matters of God and seek Him.  Make your supplications to the Almighty.  His hand will then be upon you.  We can be made strong by the hands of the Mighty God of Jacob.

Now it may seem that God is hard to find. He is very easy to find. He is always nearby strengthening us with His right hand and showing His marvelous loving kindness. Ps. 17:7

Do not forget that the hand of our God is upon all of them that seek Him: but his power and His wrath is against all them that forsake him. Ezra 8:22 The hand of God will lead us through this life and on to our home on high.

Honor to Whom Honor is Due

    ~~Honored Saints~~

Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellow-prisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me. -Romans 16:7

Paul in his letter talked of his kinsmen, Andronicus and Junia. They had been in the Christian way long before Paul and were to be honored. No doubt this was a man of God with his wife and had suffered with him in prison as the scriptures tell us. They were well known to the Apostles. Aristobulus is thought by some, to be the grandson of “Herod the great”.  No matter what their background was, they were special saints of God and were to be honored. They had been in the Christian walk for a long time.

Today we need to honor those in our midst who have led the way for us. They usually have much wisdom as they have been in the Christian walk for many years. Let's use every opportunity to let them know they are special to the church and to God.

    Feed My Sheep

~Do You Rally Love Me? ~

This is now the third time that Jesus showed himself to his disciples, after that he was raised from the dead.
So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, feed my lambs.
He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, feed my sheep.
He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, feed my sheep.

Why all the questioning? Peter had previously denied the Lord three times before the cock crew. Now Christ caused him to make a triple confession. Do you really love me Peter? This bothered him very much that the Lord would ask him the question three times. He seemed grieved and made very uneasy. Did Christ know something about him that he did not know that would make him deny Him again?

Peter's fall and repentance had greatly humbled him. Now he was not so sure of himself, but He was sure that he loved Jesus. If you really love me take care of my flock, and provide pasture for them. Lead them and guide them.

Jesus is saying today, feed my Sheep. One has to feed upon Christ in order to feed the sheep. If you really love me take care of my flock, and provide pasture for them.

    Refreshed by His Love

    ~~Close Contact With Jesus~~

But cleave unto the LORD your God, as ye have done unto this day. _ Joshua 23-8

We are living in a stressful world. It is mind-boggling to think of all that is happenings in our world. There are some that suffer hardships in life more than others. We have to be strong in the faith and stand up against Satan's lies and harassments. Faith in the Truths of the Word will see us through. Being in constant communication with God and looking not on the things of the world will bring victory.  God delights in helping His children, to bring to them peace and hope.  We need Him more than ever, now in these last days so we must focus on Christ who will see us through.

The closer we stay by His side, the easier it is to accept being loved by Him.  He will remove the tears, relieve the hardness and restore sweetness. Be refreshed by His presence.

    Prayer Works

    ~Praying For Our Nation~

And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:Daniel 9:3

Daniel sat his face to seek the Lord.  He prayed for his nation and made confession for their sins.  Daniel wanted an answer from God. He confessed to God that "we have sinned, rebelled, done wickedly and departed from God's Laws".  We have not listen to your prophets.

This sounds like our nations today, but it can be changed by prayer.  If we pray and confess our sins, God is very merciful and forgiving.  He will bless our nations again.  God is faithful to His Word and cannot lie, but if the nations do not repent of their sins, He will surely reward them for their disobedience.  We do not want to live under a curse.  It would behoove each one of us to do as Daniel did,- get down on our knees and bring the sins of our nation before God. Confess sins for our-self and our nation.  He is righteous in all His ways and works.

    Clean House

    ~Sin in the Camp~

And the LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore lie thou thus upon thy face? -Joshua 7:10

Joshua was on his face praying to God for the sins of Israel.  He could not understand why God had brought them over Jordan to the land of the Amorites, their enemy.  The Lord commanded him to get up and sanctify the people.  Get up! Stop praying! Israel has sinned.

When sin is cleaned out of our life, then our prayers can be answered if there is not unbelief.  However it may take fasting too. -Matthew 17: 21

    Worship And Praise

Blow up the trumpet in the new moon. Psalm 81:3

The feast of the new moon was always proclaimed by sound of trumpet. This was done to announce the sacred month, the beginning of months when the Lord brought his people out of the house of bondage. All Israel was to adore the Lord. In the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

      The Jews not only observed the ordained month, but that part of the month which had been divinely set apart. The Lord's people in the olden time welcomed the times appointed for worship;

They proclaimed everywhere by blowing of horns, or what is called the sound of trumpets.

Let us feel the same exultation, and never speak of the Sabbath as though it could be other than "a delight" and "honorable."

Today we, as God's people should sing hearty and joyful in praise to God.  We should praise God at all times in a special way. At special seasons and on our Sabbaths we should be found making a joyful noise to God

God bless each one with a wonderful day of worship,

    Our Great God

    ~Listen for His voice~

The voice of the Lord is upon the waters:

     The God of glory thunders:

The Lord is upon many waters.

    Psalm 29:3

God is in charge of all the waters of earth. He does as He will.

The waters command the clouds to pour forth showers and everyone is blessed.

The deserts of our land are blessed by God's almighty hand.

The Lord is King of the floods. He holds the world in the hollow of His hand.

The glory of God thunders. God's voice is powerful.

Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee. What?

Are the people so insensible as to be deaf to their God?

So it would seem, for he earnestly asks a hearing.

Are we not also at times quite as careless and immovable?

Who can deny that there is a God?

Even the wind obeys His command!

Now if God is that great, I have no doubt,

that He will not take care of me.  Oh yes He will!

God's voice can be heard in trouble and above trouble.

In great personal trials, and national calamities.

Listen! Do you hear His voice calling you today?

     Gently He whispers your name!

    Listen for His voice

How will your name be remembered?

    ~A Good Name~

A Good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold. -Proverbs 22:1

How will your name be remembered? Will you be remembered as one who as high on societies list? Or maybe you will you be remembered as one with much wealth and a good moral record? Will you be remembered as a good person?

These things are all good, but when compared to a name of a person of gracious manners and a God pleasing spiritual life, there is much difference in the lasting quality.

Today’s society is obsessed with living a life of materialism. In the churches it appears to be the same way. What does it matter, at the end of life’s road, how much money we obtained. All that will matter then is that our heart is prepared. Leaving a good name is a much better route to choose, rather than how much wealth we obtained. It really matters.

    Light From Glory

    Adopted Into God's Family

     Delivering thee from the people,

    and from the Gentiles,

unto whom now I send thee

    -Acts 26:17

About midday a great light came down Paul's way

For the Gentiles, it was going to be a better day

The light shone so bright, Paul fell to the ground

     Paul's life would now change

    He heard a great voice

A new calling from which he could not escape

God sent him to be a light to the Gentiles

That they could receive the inheritance

He would never get away from this duty.

He was now on duty for God

    Deliver from Satan's power

    Turn man from darkness

    Preach forgiveness

    And sanctification

    To open blind eyes

    What a calling

    He Is More Than Enough

     ~Jesus Satisfies~

For he satisfies the longing soul. - Ps 107:9

Yes, He satisfies. He is more than enough. He meets my expectations and fully satisfies me. The Lord gives our souls longing, and then completely satisfies us. When we despair, faint or cry out in thirst for more of Him. For every deep yearning we may have, He

He fulfills my desires. Yes He is sufficient for me. Strong persistent desires may overtake me, but never does He forget me. When my heart desires something beyond reach. It is then that Jesus comes to help me. Why? I am His child, and He cares very much for me. He will never leave nor forsake me. Yes I really mean it; He fills us with goodness and satisfies.

has the answer. When we go to Him in sweet communion, and separate ourselves unto Him, it is there in prayer that He fills the hungry soul with goodness.

    God's Work

    ~Do All For His Glory~

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Romans 8:18

    **********************

God gives all His children homework to do. It must be done, and if we fail to do our part, He will let someone else do it. It may be church work, devoted work in the family or a ministry of public work for Christ. When we do our work in an unselfish way, many will be blessed and you are doing great things for God. If your duty is to care for a sick person or an invalid, or caring for children, do it gladly in the name of the Lord for He has entrusted you with this work. One doesn't have to fret over their duties, no matter how humbly they may seem.

I like to hear Jack Holcomb sing and some days, while I work I will listen all morning from my computer. I only have about two of his old fashion albums. While listening to Jack Holcomb sing this morning, I was reminded  that I have a song to sing for Jesus, and in my heart there rings a melody despite all life's problems. Christ is pleased when we do all for His glory. Yes everyone has a work to do. Do it for God's glory and it will be a job well done. To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. -Eph. 1:6

I sincerely desire your prayers.  My Father is in the hospital in Atlanta, and Mother has three broken bones in her back and can hardly get around. I will be leaving town this evening, and staying with mother tonight and tomorrow. God's blessing on all my friends here. In His Love, Brenda

    Doing Good

    ~BEING A BLESSING~

But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. Hebrews 13:1

For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Mark 10:45

A life lived in trying to make others happy is a life well lived. When we listen to God He will tell us what to do. It is well worth the effort to try and lift burdens of your friends and neighbors. One can ease the cares of many and make them happy by being a blessing. With this, God is pleased.

Each of us can do something to try to help. Sometimes just sitting and talking with a lonely person can be a great blessing that is not soon forgotten. There are so many lonely and depressed people, especially among the older ones. When Jesus was on earth He too ministered to the ones who needed it. God is pleased when we do good services.

that he gave his only begotten Son,

    Wisdom

    ~Wisdom Speaks~

But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil. -Proverbs 1:33

    ~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~

Safety is something we all look for today.

Here is a simple recipe for the dwelling in safety:

A wise person will hear and listen to the Lord.  Heed His ways and seek wisdom and fear the Lord. If there is still fear, submit to the Lord.  We have the best safety of all in God.  If we refuse God, then He will laugh at our calamity and mock at our fear,  Then they will call on God, and seek Him, but there will be no help.  Neither will they find Him. Proverbs 1:28

Choose the fear of the Lord that it may be will with you.

    ~Not Afraid~

Turn on the news. What do we hear?

    Terror stories! Terror is near.

Ah, Be not afraid. God is here

    Abba Father is our help

    My heart shall not fear

    The Lord is very near

    That I May Know Him

     ~Seek Christ Only~

Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God. -Leviticus 19:31

The children of Israel were commanded not to seek after those who practice witchcraft.  They would be defiled.  The same is true today.  It is an unclean thing in God's eyes.

A wizard is a male and a witch is a female.  They both practice witchcraft- (dealing with evil spirits).  It is a dangerous thing.  In Israel they were to be destroyed.  These practices are still carried on today in connection with demons called familiar spirits.  It is dangerous and very much condemned by Scriptures.  Mediums are possessed by demon spirits and give their will to them to make predictions, imitate dead human beings and to promote doctrines and much more.

King Saul actually had Samuel appear to him by use of a familiar spirit.  The girl of Acts 16:16 had a spirit of python.  It is said that persons under the operation of this demon would become swollen and give answers in a frenzied state of mind. Counterfeit demonstrations were made by ventriloquists, using a bottle or large water skin.

Christians are not to seek the future.  It is mercifully veiled from us.  We are to practice faith based on knowledge of God.  Gain an intimate relationship with Christ who will teach us all things.  We are to seek the Kingdom of God and an intimate relationship with God.

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; -Philippians 3:10

    Gospel

    ~Hidden Gospel~

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 2 Cor. 4: 3-4

The gospel is hidden from men because they willfully close their eyes to it. If the heart of any one who hears the gospel is veiled, it is definite that he is lost and fully under the power of sin and Satan. Those who refuse to hear the gospel are proper subjects for Satan's work to increase in their heart. Their heart will become dark and they will have hardness of heart.

Let the light of the gospel shine into your darkened heart like the bursting of the sun in a dark place. Walk in the light as he is in the light and you have fellowship one with anther, and the Blood of Jesus will cleanse you.

Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goes. Joshua 1:9

... to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life -John 6:68

    Special Visitor

Come Down Out Of That Sycamore Tree!

Zaccheus make haste and come down for today I must abide in thy house. -Luke 19

It was here in Jericho that the publican Zaccheus, climbed a sycamore tree so that he could see Christ Jesus. Zach was short of stature, so he ran ahead of the crowd and found a special place, so that he could get a good look. Little did he know that Jesus was going to be a guest with him. He was in for a special treat. Zach did not realize that the Master had great plans for Him that day.  Jesus came to where he was and looked at him.  I can only imagine how he must have felt, having Jesus look straight at him.  How thrilled he must have been to have Jesus giving him this special attention.

Jesus is offering the same to you today. Why not make haste, (hurry) and open the door and let Him in. He not only wants to be your guest, but He wants to abide with you forever. What a privilege! He will send His Special Comforter (Holy Spirit) to take residence  in your house today.

    Promotion

~ Promotion Comes From God ~

For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
But God is the judge: he puts down one, and sets up another. Psalm75: 6,7

We are dependant upon God completely. He works everything out for good. When nations or individuals are prosperous, glorious, and powerful, they usually ascribe it all to themselves. But it is God who has raised them up. God knows how to bring a nation down. God is ruler over all. The calamities of war, pestilence, and famine, are all ministers of providence to execute wrath.

Advancement in our personal life, comes from God. He sees the position we are in, and we can be sure He will promote us in His own good time. Our godliness will prove our promotion. If we aim to please god in all our ways, we shall prosper and afterward gain eternal life.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish but have  everlasting life -John 3:16

    God's Mercy

It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed,

    because his compassions fail not.

     -Lam. 3: 22

The universe about us is an expression of God's wisdom and goodness.  Christ is God's expression of compassion and mercy, which is never-failing.  God's Word and the church are His gifts to sinful, needy mankind.

We have not seen a full demonstration of God's wrath.  How fearful this will be, if its expression is to be measured by His expressions of wisdom, love and compassion!  Turn fully to Christ and escape this dreadful manifestation of His wrath.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish but have  everlasting life -John 3:16

    Under the Juniper Tree

    Angel Touch

Elijah slept under the Juniper tree

Too exhausted to go on you see

The constant fighting was too much

But lo there came an angel touch

     A ministering angel came by

    He had heard Elijah's sigh

     Strengthened now, he would be

    By an angel serving tea

The angel fed him bread twice

And Elijah probably ate every slice

Forty days the strength did last

Touch of an Angel, what a blast

    Inspired by 1 Kings 19:5

And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, “Arise and eat”. And he looked, and, beholds, there was a cake baked on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again. And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.
And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God. -
    1 Kings 19:5-8

As he lay down to sleep under the juniper tree, he was exhausted. The fight from Jezebel had worn him out. But an angel touched him - not to take his life in answer to his prayer, but to feed him and prepare him for a long journey. The angle did this twice. His fare was very simple, but mighty under God's blessing. A food never tasted better to a worn runner. He ate the first cake baked on coals and a cruise of water, then lay down again to sleep under the personal protection of the angel. Being awakened by the angel a second time, Elijah was told the journey was too great for them without eating and drinking again of the angel's cooking. He went in the strength of such food for 40 days and nights, and came to Hobeb, the mount of God. Read the whole story in 1 Kings 19
