This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success -Joshua 1: 8

    Devouring God's Words

Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts. Jeremiah 15:16

Devour means to eat up with greediness; to consume ravenously; Jeremiah speaks meditating or of "eating" God's words. As believers in God we know we should both pray and read our Bibles. Actually, the two go together...like peas and carrots. We should come to realize that we may need our Bible during our prayer time, and can pray as we read the Word!

Meditation on God's Word is very useful for the Christian life. The word "meditates" means to "consider or reflect at length". Completely empty the mind and fill it with the Words of God.

I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways. I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word. And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved. My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes. Psalm 119:15-16, 47-48

In meditation, we ponder on scripture, and as we do so, we allow the living Word of God to penetrate our hearts as well as our minds. As we devour the Word through prayer and meditation we can expect God to make it come alive with relevance for each of our particular situations. God promises good things to those who meditate on God's word.

Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. - Psalm 1:1-3

    RISE AND WALK

Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. -John 5:8

Jesus commanded this man to get up and walk even if it did not look possible in the natural. To this man, getting up and walking was totally an act of faith

Most of the time, people had already taken a step of faith in coming to Jesus for healing. But in this instance, this man was approached by Jesus, and there had no act of faith on his part. His faith was stirred and he immediately took up his bed and walked
Healing does not come without some manifestation of faith on the part of the person who is receiving it (Mk. 6:5-6). For this reason, Jesus often told people to whom He was ministering healing to do something

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,

that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,

but have everlasting life. -John 3:16

    Led By The Spirit

You observe days and months and seasons and years. Gal. 4;10

For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus

For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as He is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises.

And to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.

Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

    Romans 8:14; Galatians 3:16, 26 1 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 8:6; 9:15; 12:24 HEB 2:17

    A STANDARD FOR GOD’S PEOPLE

And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. Rev.12: 15

So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him. Isaiah 59:19

At what time so ever the devil, or his instruments shall make violent irruptions upon the church. A standard shall be lifted.  "When He shall come as a river straitened in its course, which a mighty wind drives along. "The spirit of the Lord shall drive him away".  God shall make known himself to take their part and defend them, by his spirit alone. The glorious God is to be praised all the daylong. From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised. Psalm 113:3

Even though there be great affliction in the Church, but God will always deliver his. God will defend His people .His breath is like an overflowing torrent, which reaches to the neck, to shake the nations back and forth in a sieve, And to put in the jaws of the peoples the bridle, which leads to ruin. Isaiah 30:28

For thus says the LORD, "Behold, I extend peace to her like a river. And the glory of the nations likes an overflowing stream; and you will be nursed, you will be carried on the hip and fondled on the knees. Isaiah 66:12

    HOLY CHILDREN OF GOD

Because it is written, "You shall be holy; for I am holy." 1 Peter 1:16
Holiness defines the Christian new nature and conduct lifestyle.  God is the fountain of holiness and He ask us to "Be ye holy; for I am holy". We serve a Holy God and we must treat Him and His Word with respect and reverence. When we live like Him we glorify Him best. We are being like Him.
God asked His children to be holy. We are to strive to be like God in all our ways. We must not only submit to God's commands but seek to imitate his holiness. Sanctification comes along with the adoption into the family of God. Therefore we must abstain from all worldly appearance. We must watch and pray against the sins to which we are inclined. The word of God is the surest rule of a Christian's life, and by this rule we are commanded to be holy every way. The Word will purify the soul. Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. -2 Corinthians 7:1

Be ye holy; for I am holy. Because it is written we must submit to God's commands and seek to imitate his holiness. 'For I am the LORD your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy. And you shall not make yourselves unclean with any of the swarming things that swarm on the earth. -Leviticus 11:44
For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification. -1 Thessalonians 4:7

"Speak to all the congregation of the sons of Israel and say to them, 'You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy. -Leviticus 19:2  You shall consecrate yourselves therefore and be holy, for I am the LORD your God. Leviticus 20:7

...but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior. -1 Peter 1:15  And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. -1 John 3:3

    Faith of Elijah

Elijah came near to all the people and said, "How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him." But the people did not answer him a word. 1 Kings 18:21

Elijah came near to all the people and said, "How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him." But the people did not answer him a word. 1 Kings 18:21

Luke 16:9 "And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by means of the wealth of unrighteousness, so that when it fails, they will receive you into the eternal dwellings.

Luke 16:11 "Therefore if you have not been faithful in the use of unrighteous wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you?

Luke 16:13 "No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth."

For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10

    Time To Make A Choice

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. -Matthew 6; 24

Is money your idol? Riches, money or any thing loved or sought more than God will not work. If God be not the object of supreme trust, something else will be, and it is more likely to be money. Let us be careful as Christians to not trust, or put confidence in money and riches as worldly ones do. -- do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. James 4:4

We cannot serve two masters. We must choose. God & the World will never agree!  Choose ye this day whom ye will serve. You can have God and riches, but you must only serve one of them. If our very best things are in heaven, our very best thoughts will fly in the same direction!” Where God reigns, the lust of gain must go! We can live for this world, or live for the next; but to live equally for both is impossible! Let us serve one only! I choose God.

    WE NEED YOU LORD

Open my eyes, that I may behold Wonderful things from Your law. Psalm 119:18

Why stand you afar off, O LORD? Why hide you yourself in times of trouble? Deal bountifully with Your servant, That I may live and keep Your word. I am a stranger in the earth; Do not hide Your commandments from me.

When he gives quietness, who then can make trouble? When he hides his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only: We must call on Him in the day of trouble: He will deliver us, and we shall glorify Him.

Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.
You have heard; look at all this. And you, will you not declare it? I proclaim to you new things from this time, Even hidden things which you have not known. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. Now in Christ Jesus we who once were afar off are become nigh by the blood of Christ.

    Psalm 10:1 119:17, 19 Ps 50:15 Job 34:29 Jer. 33:3 Isaiah 48:6 Jer. 29:12 Ephesians 2:13

    HOW AWESOME HE IS

    Our Awesome God

1 O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
2 For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.
3 He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.
4 He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.
5 God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.
7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.
8 God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.
9 The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields
of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted.

    A FIRM STRONGHOLD

The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. -Nahum 1:7

Lest the faithful should be discouraged by hearing the power of God, he shows them that his mercy appertains to them, and that he has care over them. The Lord is good to those that are good, and to them he will be a stronghold in the day of trouble. How much more will He not care for us today.  In the day of public trouble, God will be there for us, even in the day of terror and major troubles. He knows those that are His. He knows those who are devoted to him. He knows what is best for them, and what course to take most effectually for their relief. They are perhaps little regarded in the world, but the Lord knows them. Ps. 1:6.

For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked will perish. Psalm 1:6
Good and upright is the LORD; Therefore He instructs sinners in the way. Psalm 25:8
But the salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; He is their strength in time of trouble. Psalm 37:39

The LORD helps them and delivers them; He delivers them from the wicked and saves them, Because they take refuge in Him. Psalm 37:40
the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who say, "Give thanks to the LORD of hosts, For the LORD is good, For His loving-kindness is everlasting"; and of those who bring a thank offering into the house of the LORD. For I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were at first,' says the LORD. Jeremiah 33:11

I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me. John 10:14 "
Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness."  2 Timothy 2:19

    Everlasting Love

Who Can Take Away God's Love?

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?” -Romans 8:35

    <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

No one. Absolutely no one. How can anything separate us if we cling to Christ?

There may be tribulation and distress of soul but nothing shall separate us from God's great love. There may be times when we are hungry, thirsty, poorly clothed, homeless and are roughly treated, but we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Even though we are afflicted in every way, we are not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing. We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us and nothing, absolutely nothing shall be able to separate us from God's great love. Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.

We are loved with an everlasting love, and nothing shall be able to separate us from His love. We belong to our beloved Lord Jesus, and have full enjoyment of him for ever.

     Gracious Speech

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that, which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Eph. 4:29

Christians words should be helpful and not do harm. No corrupt communication should ever come forth that will harm the one who hears. It is forbidden in God's Word. All that the Christian speaks should be that which is good to the use of edifying, building up in Christ. It is the duty of Christians to seek to encourage believers by their conversation

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. Words from the mouth of a wise man are gracious. The mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. There must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.Put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth.

Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person. We pursue the things, which make for peace and the building up of one another.

    Ephesians 4:29 Ecclesiastes 10:12 Matthew 12:34 Romans 14:19 Ephesians 5:4 Colossians 3:8 Colossians 4:6

    Fully Arrayed

“Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.   -Matthew 6:28, 29

    <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Solomon was a man of wealth and very famous worldwide in his royal palace. Solomon asked for wisdom, and had that and other things added to him. He had great glories. The queen of Sheba perceived all the wisdom of Solomon, She saw the house that he had built. the food at his table, the seating of his servants, the attendance of his ministers and their attire, his cupbearers and their attire, and his stairway by which he went up to the house of the LORD, she was breathless. She saw all King Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold; silver was not considered valuable in the days of Solomon- 2 Chronicles 9:4, 20

Take therefore no thought for the morrow. We are to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, then our life will not be in vain.  Jesus told His followers to look upon the lilies and the birds. They toil not, yet their Heavenly Father takes care of them. Solomon in all his glories could not be compared to the ones who trust in Christ. Even still he cannot compare to these the Father referred to.  God help us to be more thoughtful about the things that are not seen, but things that are eternal.
