    Day of the Lord at Hand

     The Day of the Lord is at Hand

    Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come. -Joel 1: 15

    The day of the Lord is at hand, at hand;
    Its storms roll up the sky;
    The nations sleep starving on heaps of gold;
    All dreamers toss and sigh;
    The night is darkest before the morn;
    When the pain is sorest the child is born,
    And the day of the Lord is at hand, at hand,
    The day of the Lord is at hand.

    Who would sit down and sigh for a lost age of gold,
    While the Lord of all ages is here?
    True hearts will leap at the trumpet of God,
    And those who can suffer can dare.
    Each old age of gold was an iron age, too,
    And the meekest of saints may find stern work to do
    In the day of the Lord at hand, at hand,
    In the day of the Lord at hand.

    --Charles Kingsley 1819-1875

    13 Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is with-holden from the house of your God.
    14 Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD,
    15 Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.
    16 Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God?
    17 The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered.
    18 How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.
    19 O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field.
    20 The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness. --Joel 1

    The Persecuted Church

    Revelation 2:  8-11

    Just a few highlights of the Scripture

     And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;
     I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
     Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
     He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that over-cometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

    This church was located on a beautiful seacoast in Asia. There are no words of fault to this church, but only comfort.

    History says that here is where Polycarp was bishop and was appointed by John. (One of John's Disciples)  Also that the church consisted of poor people, not like the church at Ephesus.  He reminds them that He is alive forevermore. There was no need to fear even though some would face short tribulation. This church was commended for its

    • Enduring suffering and poverty.

    There was no complaint, judgment or  correction, but they were promised a crown of life if they are faithful.  Notice that the Lord always closes with "He that hath an ear let him hear".  Sounds like a warning to the Churches that they had  better take  seriously the things that He was saying to them.  I believe the same message is to us today. Notice how nearly every line has a message for him as for all who follow in His steps.

    The Savior reminded him that beyond the suffering of this brief life a crown awaited him Everything fades in comparison with this "Crown of Life." The thought of it enabled Polycarp to say at the stake " I give Thee thanks that thou has brought me to this hour that I may have my part in the cup of thy Christ unto the resurrection of eternal life through the operation of the Holy Spirit. That's our hope.  Eternal Life  The Christian has everything to look forward to. Praise the Lord!

    The Loveless Church

     Sure hope these photos are showing up on everyone's computer. Please let me know.

    A few highlights from Rev. 2
     These letters are about the character of the seven churches.  Christ now appears in the form of a man, and speaks to John.

    1 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;

     2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:

     3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast labored, and hast not fainted.

     4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

     5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

     6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate.

     7  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that over-cometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. Rev. 2: 1-7

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
     Here we see that the Lord is in the midst of the churches. In His mighty power he holds the seven stars in his right hand that they may shine as stars, both by purity of doctrine and holiness of life!
    According to his promise, "I am with you always, even to the end of the world." In the midst of the golden candlesticks - Beholding all their works and thoughts, and ready to "remove the candlestick out of its place," if any, being warned, will not repent.
    There is a promise to him that over-cometh, together with the exhortation, "He that hath an ear to hear, let him hear" Verses 2-6 He is giving commendation to the churches:
    1. They had left their first live
    2. They were commanded to repent and do their first works to be restored to God and their first love. --In order for one to recover the first love, they must take these three steps, 1. Remember: 2. Repent: 3. Do the first works.
    3. If they would not do so they were to be removed
    4. The whole church would be destroyed if terms were not met
    5. Only the over-comer was promised Heaven
     Verse seven has a prophecy that Saints will eat in the next life. To eat of the tree of life - The first thing promised in these letters is the last and highest in the accomplishment, (Re 22:2,14,19). The tree of life and the water of life go together, (Re 22:1,2); both implying the living with God eternally. In the paradise of my God - The word paradise means a garden of pleasure.
    Also see (Verse 7, 17; Luke 22: 16, 18, 30)  Jesus knows all the good and all the evil, which his servants and his enemies suffer and do. He sees and knows all about the churches of today and their labor.
    Only One Life.
    Twill soon be Past.
    Only what is done for Christ will last
    For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    The Precious Blood of jesus
    I'M THANKFUL FOR THE BLOOD OF JESUS
    THE BIBLE SAYS---
    For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.-Matthew 26: 28
    And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.-Luke 24; 27
    How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Heb. 9: 14
    And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. Heb. 9: 22
    Orange is for the sins we've done,
    Red is for the Blood of God's only son,
     White   is for the grace He gives,
    Green is for new life in Him.
     Yellow  is for your place in Heaven.
    Invite Jesus into your life and be truly forgiven.
    Dear Jesus, thank you for loving me even though  I've sinned.
    Thank you for dying on the cross in my place.
     I'm sorry for my sins and want you to be my Lord and Savior today.
    By faith I accept you now.
    Thank you for coming into my heart. Amen
    Jesus Bought Us with His Blood
    Jesus, Who bought us with His blood,
    And makes our souls His care;
    Was known of old as Israel’s God,
    And answered Jabez’ prayer.
    Jabez! a child of grief! the name
    Befits poor sinners well;
    For Jesus bore the cross and shame,
    To save our souls from hell.
    Teach us, O Lord, like him, to plead
    For mercies from above;
    O come, and bless our souls indeed,
    With light, and joy, and love.
    The Gospel’s promised land is wide,
    We fain would enter in;
    But we are pressed, on every side,
    With unbelief and sin.
    Arise; O Lord, enlarge our coast,
    Let us possess the whole;
    That Satan may no longer boast
    He can Thy work control.
    Oh, may Thine hand be with us still,
    Our Guide and Guardian be;
    To keep us safe from every ill,
    Till death shall set us free.
    Help us on Thee to cast our care,
    And on Thy Word to rest;
    That Israel’s God, Who heareth prayer,
    Will grant us our request.
     1 Chronicles 4:10
    THE GREAT COUNSELOR
    The World's Best Counselor
    The Lord impressed this on my heart about four o'clock this morning, as I was pouring out my heart to God about some porblems. We only have to give God our problems and wait for Him to work it out for us.
      For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
     Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. -Isaiah 9: 6-7
    We as Christians have the greatest counselor in the world. His name is JESUS  Where else can we go to get better advise? Jesus knows everything about us.  We do not have to pay to tell Him our life history.  Futhermore He delights in hearing about our problems.
     All we have to do is leave our foolish fears with Him and follow Him -the guide and refuse to consider the problems of tomorrow. Trust and wait. Wait for His command, Wait for His guidance and supply All is well as he goes before us to lead the way.
    Webster Dictionary menaing of coun·sel·or -
    1 : a person who gives advice or counseling
    2 : LAWYER; specifically : one that gives advice in law and manages cases for clients in court
    What God's Word Says About Strong Drinks
    Numbers 6: 3 He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried.
    20: 1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
    21: 17 He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
    23: 30 They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.
    31 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.
    Isaiah 5: 11 Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!
    For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    I came across this poem in my files.  Hope you enjoy it.
    SALOON
    A saloon is sometimes called a bar, A bar to Heaven, a door to hell
    Whoever named it named it well.
    A bar to manliness and to wealth, A door to want and broken health.
    A bar to honor pride and fame, A door to sin and grief and shame.
    A bar to hope, a bar to prayer, A door to darkness and despair.
    A bar to honored useful life, A door to brawling, senseless strife.
    A bar to all that's true and brave, A door to every drunkard's grave.
    A bar to joys that home imparts, A door to tears and aching hearts.
    A bar to Heaven, a door to hell, Whoever named it, named it well
    When we get to the place where there's nothing left but God, we find that God is enough. -Author unknown
    Jesus is Coming Back Soon
    THE COMING OF JESUS
    1 Thessalonians 2:19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
    1 Thessalonians 3:13 To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
    2 Thessalonians 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
    James 5:7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
    James 5:8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
    Today is George Washington's birthday. Here is a little history of his life. Enjoy
    George Washington is called the father of our country. He fought for our freedom, and helped us to become the United States.
    George Washington w as born February 22, 1732. He grew up on a farm in Virginia with his parents, five brothers and a sister. When George was eleven, his father died and He  became very close to his brother, Lawrence.   He joined the army and fought in the French and Indian War.
    His  brother died and he moved into his home called Mt. Vernon. George married Martha who had two children named Patsy and Jackie.
    When the colonists decided they wanted to be free from England, they asked George to be the general of the army.  The war lasted for eight years and was hard on everyone.  The troops went through freezing winters with very little food. But they never gave up.
    In the end, the colonists won the war and formed a new country called America After the war, George was elected as the first president of the United States of America. He served as President for eight years.  George returned to Mt. Vernon to relax and run his farm. He lived there for two more years before he got sick and died on December 14, 1799
    George Washington is known as "The Father of Our Country" because he helped to give us our freedom. We remember him today
    I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations. Psalm 108:3
    The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens. Psalm 113:4
    A Vision of the Son of Man
    < />
    Here is the remaining of Chapter one of Rev.  Just a few highlights.
     There is much that can be learned by reading and studying the book of Rev. I encougage you to do so.
    JOHN BEHOLDS THE LORD
    12: And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
    13: And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
    14: His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
    15: And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
    16: And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
      17: And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
    18: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
    19: Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;
    20: The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
    -Rev. 1
    • The seven golden candlesticks represent the seven churches.
    • Jesus Christ the judge has authority over the church and world
    • We see here his garment is as a judge's robe. His white hair symbolizes justice, purity and glory. Fire is also a symbol of judgment.
    • The brass and the sound of the voice show Christ's authority and power.
      The seven stars  in verse 20 are identified as the angels of the seven churches.
       The sword represents Christ's judgment of the church and the word through His Word.
    • His countenance or face was like the sun as the glory of God shone forth.
      Notice the effect the vision had on John and how God quiets his fear, because of His presence. Verse 17-18
      He called Himself the I Am  and that identifies His to be Jesus Christ. He holds in His hand keys that represent authority. Truly He has all power in Heaven and earth.
    JOHN ON THE ISLAND OF PATMOS
    Write the things which thou hast seen
    "JOHN ON THE ISLAND OF PATMOS"
    I have been listening to C D and reading the book of Revelation  almost everyday for about seven months now.  I would like to share some of the highlights with you.   Much can be said and learned. Here are a few highlights, a little each week as the Lord leads.
    Rev.1
    1: The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
    2: Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
    3: Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
    4: John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;
    5: And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
    6: And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
    7: Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
    8: I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
    9: I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
    10: I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
    11: Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
      Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter; ---
    The vision and the character of Christ.
    John was being shown things to come concerning
    1. Events in the church
    2. Events in heaven
    3. Events of the tribulation
    4. Events of the Millennium
    5. Events of the eternal new Heaven and Earth
    Jesus called all those Blessed who
    1. Read the Revelation
    2. Hear the Revelation
    3. Keep the Revelation of things written therein.
    Jesus Lets us see into the future through John His servant. John was on a rocky, treeless, volcanic island about 6x10 miles S W of Samoa.  It was made a place of exile by the Romans.
     John was in exile for preaching the Word of God and his testimony. It was the Lord's day and John was in the spirit, (yielded) The Lord showed him things to come in the future, and things concerning he seven churches which represent the one church.
     When our Lord comes again, it will be a happy time for the Christians who love God and made Him their choice. Time as we know it will soon be over.  There  will be new Heavens and a new earth. It is going to be most wonderful! It is going to be the most glorious "Time of our live" .  Are you ready? If not please invite Jesus into your heart. He longs to have sweet fellowship with you.
    For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have  everlasting life
    We had a visitor last night. About 8:30 we looked out the front window and saw a deer, and guess what it was doing. Eating our pansies of course. I grabbed the camera, but sadly it seen my shadow near the window, and headed toward the back yard.
     We had been wondering why they did not do good this year. Our plants looked snubbed out.  Now we know!  We caught them in the act, - eating our pansies.
    Does anyone know how to keep the deer out of front yard flowers? If so please let us know. - Brenda
    Look unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is none else" (Isaiah 45:22).
    "Our help is in the name of the LORD, Who made heaven and earth." Psalm 124:8
    "For He satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness" (Psalm 107:9).
    Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Isaiah 12:2
    These promises are so wonderful.
    I love them all, --
    especially on trying days when all is going wrong.
    Have a great day.- Brenda
    God Loves the Nations
      God Loves the Nations
    Today is Presidents day.
     Here are some verses from God's Word concerning the nations. Truly God loves all nations and calls them to repent and turn to him.
    Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the Lord. Ezekiel 38:23
    ----He is the Almighty, just, faithful, wise, holy, and merciful God.  He is  holy, and true to his word.
    A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the Lord hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the Lord. Jeremiah 25:31
     ---The Lord has just ground of controversy with every nation and every person; and he will execute judgment on all the wicked. Who can avoid trembling when God speaks in displeasure? The days are fully come; the time fixed in the Divine counsels, which will make the nations wholly desolate.
    But thou shalt say unto them, This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the Lord their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth. Jeremiah 7:28
    ----This was a generation destined to the wrath of God.. Let us pray for nation to turn back to God
     "You can easily distinguish him when Congress goes to prayer. Washington is the gentleman who kneels." -anonymous
      President's Day
     Since 1968, we have celebrated President's Day on the third Monday in February  It's a day set aside to honor all of the U.S. presidents. We often think of two great presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln when we celebrate this holiday as it falls by design between their birthdays. This day can be a tribute to each and every person who has ever served in the office as President of the United States of America.
     God give us Godly Leaders for our nation
    In thee early days of Republic, a stranger once asked Congress how he could distinguish Washington.
    He was told--
     For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    Let us go into the House of the Lord
    I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.  Psalm 122: 1
    This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. -Ps. 118-24
    On Sunday when the church bells start ringing,
    they're ringing for you and for me
    We'll all gather round at the altar
    And pray that our souls may be free.
    It's a place where we all meet on Sunday
    to worship the Lord on that day
    Where we'll all find peace and forgiveness
    And worship the Lord on that day.
    I'll meet you in church Sunday morning
    And we'll all knell down and pray
    We'll pray to our Lord up in Heaven
    To guide us safe home on our way
    But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
    And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.
    Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.
    For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.
    Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. -Acts 20
    That is, the believing, loving, holy children of God; which he hath purchased - How precious is it then in his sight! Bought with the blood of the only begotten Son of God, (1John 1:7).
    I was glad when they said unto me,
    Let us go into the
    house of the Lord
    -Psalm 122: 1
    My Soul Desires God
    1: As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
    2: My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
    3: My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?
    4: When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.
    5: Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
    6: O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.
    7: Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.
    8: Yet the LORD will command his loving-kindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.
    9: I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
    10: As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?
    11: Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. -Psalm 42
    The Panting of the Deer at the Waterbrooks
     I will come into thy house in the multitudes of thy mercy.  Psalm 5: 7
    As the hart suffers much from the sultry heat, but  they dare not linger too long at the water brook, because the wild beast gather there.
    We too are often like that toward God's house.  We never realize the value of God's house until we are separated from it's Holy rites.  How blessed it is to return to the sanctuary after such long separations.
    LIVING WATERS
    Drink of the water that I shall give you and you shall never thirst.
    I will lead you beside the waters of comfort.
    I will give unto  you living water.
    Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness.
    As the hart panteth after the water brooks so longeth my soul after Thee, O God.
    This is the thirst that can never go unsatisfied.
    Living the Good Life
    The Happiness of the Godly
    1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
    The Ungodly Shall Perish
    4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
    Psalms 1:1-6 (KJV)
    They who are afflicted and oppressed see that their comfort exists only in God. He sends deliverance, Praise God!!! The wicked and the persecutors of the children of God will see how the hand of God is always against them: and though he permits them to prosper for a while, yet he bridles them, so much so that they cannot touch a hair of ones head unless he permits it. In the end their destruction is most miserable.
    We have remedies against all temptations, troubles of mind and conscience through God.  We can be assured against all dangers in this life and live in the true fear and love of God. At the end we will receive an incorruptible crown of glory, which is laid up for all those who love the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
    NOW ISN'T THAT A GOOD WAY TO LIVE?  I'LL SAY THE BEST WAY
    When you're down to nothing, God is up to something!
      For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    Love Goes the Second Mile
     True Love
    Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
     He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
     Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
     -1 John 4
    Real Love Forgets Self
    William Gladstone, in announcing the death of Princess Alice to the House of Commons, told a touching story. The little daughter of the Princess was seriously ill with diphtheria. The doctors told the princess not to kiss her little daughter and endanger her life by breathing the child’s breath. Once when the child was struggling to breathe, the mother, forgetting herself entirely, took the little one into her arms to keep her from choking to death. Rasping and struggling for her life, the child said, “Momma, kiss me!” Without thinking of herself the mother tenderly kissed her daughter. She got diphtheria and some days thereafter she went to be forever with the Lord.
    Real love forgets self. Real love knows no danger. Real love doesn’t count the cost.
    May God who understands each need,
    who listens to every prayer,
    bless you and keep you
    in His tender loving care
                                              John 3:16
     Love, like no one ever loved before.
     That's what God gave us when He sent His only son to die for us.  He gave His all for you and me. - John 3: 16
    Charity Is The Greatest
    1 Corinthians 13  Love
    Love is blind, but marriage is an eye-opener.
    1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
    2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
    3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
    4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
    5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
    6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
    7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
    8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
    9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
    10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall
    be done away.
    11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
    12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
    13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. 1 COR. 13
    But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels - Heb. 12: 22
    Tu B'Shvat New Year for Trees Feb. 13
    JERUSALEM
    2 Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.
    3 Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together:
    4 Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the LORD.
    5 For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David.
    6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
    7 Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
    O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Matthew 23: 27
    But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. Galatians 4:26
    Tu B'Shvat
    New Year for Trees Feb. 13
    Tu B'Shvat, the fifteenth day of the Hebrew month of Shvat, is the New Year for trees. In Israel, many people celebrate Tu B'Shvat by planting trees.
    This celebration of trees honors the relationship between the people of Israel and the Land of Israel.
    When Arthur and I went there on a tour with a church group in 1993 and in 1998 we too planted trees. Jerusalem holds a special spot in our hearts. Walking where Jesus walked was thrilling.
    Loving Our Enemies
     LOVE YOUR ENEMIES
    THE BIBLE SAYS -
    But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Luke 6:27
    For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. Luke 6:32
    A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. John 13:34
    By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 13:35
    Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Romans 13:10
    Do all the good you can... By all the means you can... In all the ways you can... In all the places you can... At all the times you can... To all the people you can---As long  as ever you can.
      --
    John Wesley
    For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    -John 3: 16
    THAT IS TRUE LOVE THAT LAST
    Today is Abraham Lincoln's Birthday.  Here is one of his devotions about the Saviour.
    Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious. 1 Pet. 2:6, 7
    Jesus, in thy transporting name
    What glories meet our eyes!
    Thou art the angels' sweetest theme,
    The wonder of the skies.
    Oh may our willing hearts confess
    Thy sweet, thy gently sway;
    Glad captives of thy matchless grace,
    Thy righteous rule obey.
    A Valentine Prayer
    For You
    God bless you
    with His warmth and love
    With personal fulfillment
    In your work, your rest, and play.
    God bless your close relationships
    With people you hold dear -
    And fill your life
    Immature love says:
    "I love you because I need you.
    " Mature love says:
      "I need you because I love you."
    -Erich Fromm
    Valentine's Day is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other; sending Valentine's cards, candy, or donations to charities, often anonymously. It is very common to present flowers on Valentine's Day. The holiday is named after two men, both Christian martyrs named Valentine. The day became associated with romantic love in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.
    Valentine's Day was probably imported into North America in the 19th century by British settlers. In the United States, the first mass-produced valentines of embossed paper lace were produced and sold shortly after 1847 by Esther Howland (1828-1904) of Worcester, Massachusetts. Her father operated a large book and stationery store, and she took her inspiration from an English valentine she had received. Since 2001, the Greeting Card Association has been giving an annual "Esther Howland Award for a Greeting Card Visionary". -Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
     Love is the
    Greatest
     ...There are in the end three things
    and the greatest of these is love.
    1 Corinthians 13:13
    DISCERN THE HEARTS
    From out of the mouth, the heart does spring
    Bitter or sweet, words have drawstrings.
    Anger once simmered now does boil.
    Resentment nurtured now hate toils.
    Be careful of what words are pure
    For mouths speaking have great lure.
    Listen well and you will know
    How to discern all that's in tow.
    Birds of a feather flock together.
    Listen to their songs of weather.
    Some are shrill, some are sweet.
    Some are quiet, nice and neat.
    You will discern the spirit inside
    When you listen to what resides.
    Heart's with wounds, heart's grown cold,
    Hearts with control, all too bold.
    Hearts are manifest through their words.
    Pray for them and what is heard.
    Your prayers will heal all gone awry
    I hear Your prayers over hearts that sigh. -Author Unknown
    Heart Of Agony
    HEART OF AGONY
    The Greatest Love Story
    Ever Told
    can be found in God's Word...
    John 3:16...
    "For God so loved the WORLD that He gave
    His only begotten SON that WHOSOEVER believeth in Him
    SHOULD NOT perish.....but have
    EVERLASTING LIFE."
    Jesus did not come to make God's love possible, but to make God's love visible. There on Calvary Cross on which He hung shedding His Blood for you and me.  There is and never has been any greater Love.
    When we embrace eternal life we enter into His sufferings and help to carry the cross, as sure as if we walked  beside Him on that awful day at Calvary. He is the changeless One, the same yesterday, today and forever.
    When we put our cares in His hands, He puts His peace in our hearts.
    LOVE OF MY LIFE
    Loving God With All Our Heart
      And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
     And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
    -Matthew22: 37-39
    The Ten Commandments are not multiple choice.
    Cream Puffs
    One of my favorite dessert recipes. You may want to try it this Valentine or anytime.
    1 cup water
    1/2 cup butter
    1 cup flour
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    4 eggs
    In a saucepan, heat water and butter until boiling. Stir in flour and salt; stir vigorously over low heat until mixture leaves the sides of the pan and forms a ball, about 1 minute. Remove from heat; cool 5 minutes. Beat in eggs one at a time; beating thoroughly after each addition. The paste should look smooth and shiny but be stiff enough to hold its shape.
    Preheat oven to 425°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
    Place pastry in a pastry bag fitted with a 3/4-inch tip. Pipe or spoon* cream puff pastry onto parchment-lined paper. Bake for 15 minutes; reduce heat to 400°F and continue baking 15 minutes longer. Make a few small slits in the side of each cream puff to allow steam to escape; turn oven off and return cream puffs to oven for an additional 10 minutes. Cool cream puffs on wire racks.
    Filling Cream Puffs:Slice pastry top horizontally with a serrated knife. Remove any uncooked dough from inside.Fill with custard, whipped cream, chocolate pudding or even ice cream**. Cover with top half of shell. Sprinkle with powdered sugar or cocoa powder if desired. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.
    *NOTE: Drop small amount of pastry onto sheet using 2 spoons.
    **NOTE: If using ice cream as filling, serve immediately, as dough will soften if frozen.
    Serving Size: 12
    Jesus talks about the Real Bread of Life:
    I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. John 6: 51
     Love
    Jesus, Love of my Life
     He Loves Me So
    Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 1 John 4: 10
    “In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.”
    He was the foundation of life to every living thing, as well as of being to all that is.
    And the life was the light of men — He who is essential life, and the giver of life to all that liveth, was also the light of men; the fountain of wisdom, holiness, and happiness, to man in his original state.
    And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.-John 1:4,5 Shines even on fallen man; but the darkness - Dark, sinful man, perceiveth it not.
    JESUS,  THE JOY OF LOVING HEARTS
    Jesus, Thou Joy of loving hearts,
    Thou Fount of life, Thou Light of men,
    From the best bliss that earth imparts,
    We turn unfilled to Thee again.
    Thy truth unchanged hath ever stood;
    Thou savest those that on Thee call;
    To them that seek Thee Thou art good,
    To them that find Thee all in all.
    We taste Thee, O Thou living Bread,
    And long to feast upon Thee still;
    We drink of Thee, the Fountainhead,
    And thirst our souls from Thee to fill.
    Our restless spirits yearn for Thee,
    Wherever our changeful lot is cast;
    Glad when Thy gracious smile we see,
    Blessed when our faith can hold Thee fast.
    O Jesus, ever with us stay,
    Make all our moments calm and bright;
    Chase the dark night of sin away,
    Shed over the world Thy holy light.
    HOUSE OF PRAYER
    -- My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves. Luke 19: 46
    PLEASED DON'T ASK ME
    I'll go where you want me to go, dear Lord
    Real service is what I desire.
    I'll say what you want me to say dear Lord,
    But please don't ask me to sing in the choir.
    I'll say what you want me to say dear Lord,
    I like to see things come to pass.
    But don't ask me to teach girls or boys, dear Lord--
    I'd rather just stay in my class
    I'll do what you want me to do, dear Lord.
    I long for the kingdom to thrive.
    I give you my nickels and dimes, dear Lord.
    But please don't ask me to tithe.
    I'll do what you want me to do, dear Lord.
    I long to be in the thick of the fight.
    I'll go where you want me to go, dear Lord.
    But please not to church on Sunday night."
     Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. -Hebrews 10: 25
     We as Christians  should exhort one another in faith, love, and good works. — The great day is ever before our eyes.
    WHY GO TO CHURCH?
    A churchgoer wrote a letter to the editor of the newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday.
    I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me I can't remember a single one of them. So I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all."
    This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:
    "I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this: They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work.If my wife had not given me those meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!"
    Jesus The Life Giver
    Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. James 4:14
    For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: 1 Peter 3:10
    HE IS COMING
    BEHOLD I COME QUICKLY
    Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. 8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
    Rev. 22: 7-8
    He which testifies these things saith, Surely I come quickly. So be it. Even so, come, Lord Jesus (Rev 22:20).
    Well, that was almost nineteen hundred years ago when He said, "Behold, I come quickly." But Lord it has been nineteen hundred years. you say, "In the last days there will be scoffers that will come along and say, where is the promise of His coming?
    3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
    4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation
    8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
    9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
    11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
    12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
    13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
    14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.-2 Peter 3
    "God isn't slack concerning His promises," that is the promise of the coming, "as some men count slackness." But he said, "We need to consider that one day is as a thousand years to the Lord and a thousand years is as one day. We say it has almost been almost two thousand years. Well, the Lord says, "It has only been a couple days in His timing. "Behold, I come quickly."
    How, quickly is He coming for you and me? We don't know;  but I do believe that the time of the return of Jesus Christ is very, very near. I long for Christ to come and establish  His kingdom.  I desire to see the New World,  with Jesus reigning as King and Lord.
    The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. (Rev 22:21
