SPIRITUAL WARFARE

God made the Levitical priest hood exclusive and limited.

 Only Aaron, his sons and those born of them could serve in the Levitical priesthood, (daughters or women were excluded). No stranger could serve:  Num. 3:10 And thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall wait on their priest's office: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

 Any of Aaron’s seed that had a blemish or imperfection in his body could never serve as high priest: Lev 21:21 No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God. 22 he shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy. 23 Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the LORD do sanctify them. 24 And Moses told it unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel.

It would be incorrect, holy brethren, to think that the children of the high priest had it made or an easy life. God as sovereign and in TOTAL control made no exceptions for anybody:

 THE SIN OF STRANGE FIRE

 Lev 10:1 And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. 2 And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. 3 Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace. 4 and Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp. 5 So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said. 6 And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled. 7 And ye shall not go out from the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: for the anointing oil of the LORD is upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses.

Why did not Aaron stop his sons, he certainly was absolutely not ignorant of the Law?  Why in the world did two of Aaron's sons do it, they too were absolutely not ignorant of the Law? Did they think they were above the Law? Did they think God would let them get away with it? Brothers and sisters, quite plainly I do not know. The Bible is silent on this, and where the Bible is silent we must be silent. But wherever it speaks, we must speak the same things only. I do know this full well as we all must: DON’T MESS WITH GOD. God’s way is the ONLY right way and the ONLY right way is God’s way, and woe to anyone futilely thinking otherwise. Another horrific lesson we know for sure, brethren, anybody foolish enough to think they can play with God, is playing with fire and they are gonna get burned, BECAUSE OUR GOD IS A CONSUMING FIRE.

SPIRITUAL WARFARE

Despite the fearsome dreadfulness of God’s Law, brothers and sisters, it nevertheless dripped with His love and mercy. God’s purpose was that it would serve as our schoolmaster (see Gal. 3: 21-26). It would be the scourge to whip mankind’s conscience to fully understand that it had no power to save itself. It taught the deep depravity, corruption, and evil of mankind without God.  The law convinces us absolutely that sinful mankind of itself cannot save itself nor be righteous of itself.  Finally God’s Law makes mankind deeply desperate, distressed, and extremely famished for the Promised Saviour that would deliver the world from the Law of sin, the curse, death and condemnation.

The Law had its high priests ordained by God, BUT MADE WITHOUT AN OATH (See Heb 7:21; Heb. 7:28). This signified that the Levitical priesthood would never be permanent nor an eternal ministry. The high priests served as mediators between the people and God, to oversee obedience to the Covenant, and the order and function of the priests under them.

The high priest in his role of mediator is one whom God appoints to intervene between two, (men and God) either in order to make or restore peace and friendship, or form a compact, or for ratifying a covenant. The mediator also acts as a medium of communication, arbitrator.

In short order the high priest was forbidden to rest in the holy place under penalty of death.

SPIRITUAL WARFARE

Posturing, strutting, braggadocio, god-ling wannabe, mankind that cannot be righteous of himself to save his own life. They were told by God to obey the Law that was given in detail down to the minutiae. The truth is that none of them did. We see the first human high priest Aaron rebelled  then defrocked and killed by God. Even the great prophet Moses sinned by rebellion and lost his life also, neither he nor Aaron was allowed to enter the promised land; Num. 20: 23-28; Num. 27: 12-14.    By the Law all men are concluded under the Law and proven to be sinners. The Law is still so coveted by the unrighteous today, still believing the lie that man can be made righteous without God, and solely by human effort and work.

Brothers and sisters our Most Holy God tells us: Ro. 3: 9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; 10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:15 Their feet are swift to shed blood: 16 Destruction and misery are in their ways: 17 And the way of peace have they not known:18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

We know brethren that the Law is absolutely not the helmet of Salvation, because God has told us explicitly none can be saved through the Law. When anybody comes trying to force the helmet of the Law upon the head of a Christian as the source of righteousness and salvation, the Christian will reject it. Christians know that the Law cannot save, it is the Law of God giving forth condemnation, curse, death, and sin confirming the true nature of one who is an unredeemed sinner.

 As we go to look more into the Law and its priesthood, knowing what we know thus far, most certainly prevents us from glorying in its pageantry and splendor. We ought to know thus far that it is sheer vanity and foolishness to glory in mere men ever, for God reveals the ugly truth of the natural man.

SPIRITUAL WARFARE

Let us keep in mind, brothers and sisters, that God ordained both the Law of Moses and the New Covenant of Grace. God states His intentions in both the Old and New Testaments that the Old Covenant of the Law would never be permanent, and would be replaced by the Eternal New Covenant. See: Jer. 31:31; Mt. 26:28; Heb. 8:8; Heb. 12:23. Feel free to look up more on your own.

Adam’s sin leading to the fall in the garden, God sending the worldwide flood killing all sinful men with the exception of eight souls, and the failure of the sinning nation of Israel to actually keep the Law as a whole is a glaring condemnation of all mankind, as not being able of itself to be righteous or to save itself.

 The Law written by the finger of God reveals the final chapter on the true nature of mankind, and is proof positive, that mankind of itself is capable of nothing but sinning. Nevertheless the theme running through scripture is that God the Merciful will send a Saviour to take away the sins of the world. It is against this back drop that we must understand and look further into the Law.

SPIRITUAL WARFARE

Lord God our Father has armed us His people to the teeth through our Lord Jesus Christ. Every one of His weapons are impenetrable, perfect without flaw, and lethal to the works of the adversary the devil.

Brothers and sisters let us give unto our God the sweet sacrifices of praise, love offerings, and thank offerings. You are our great and mighty God, we belong to you forever and you are ours forever. Thine, Lord God, is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. We bow our knees and every fiber of our being before you in love, adoration, and give to you alone the totality of our worship. Amen.

He told you, me and every one of us His children-that we are commanded to take these weapons He has made for us.

Eph. 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

1Th 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

This helmet fully covering our heads, ears, and shielding our faces is salvation itself.

You see, brethren the helmet of salvation is the full gospel message, the whole armor of God.

The helmet of salvation again is salvation itself. Those who do not fully understand it do not have it on. However, through the Holy Spirit every Christian can have the helmet of salvation, through Jesus Christ, which is the will and work of God.

If anyone does not know the whole gospel message they do not have the helmet of salvation on. Absolutely no part of the whole armor of God can be left out, or put on piece meal. God commands and makes it possible for us to put on every part of His protective  and deadly fighting weapons of  spiritual warfare. The mighty power of Jesus Christ the Son of God, given to us by the Father, is fully revealed in the full gospel message.

  COMING NEXT

To fully understand salvation we must look at the Covenant of the Law, and the New Covenant, of grace, written in the sinless blood of Jesus Christ the sole Saviour and High Priest/Mediator  between man and God.

LORD JESUS CHRIST SAID:

Luk 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Behoved means: Strong's G1163 – dei- I.it is necessary, there is need of, it behooves, is right and proper. Necessity established by the counsel and decree of God, especially by that purpose of his which relates to the salvation of men by the intervention of Christ and which is disclosed in the Old and New Testament prophecies concerning what Christ was destined finally to undergo, his sufferings, death, resurrection, ascension.

1Co 15:14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

Rom 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Say it with me brothers and sisters: Lord Jesus we your children are fully convicted, convinced and wholly persuaded that ALL the work you did to accomplish our redemption was necessary, final, finished and complete.

We take up ABOVE ALL the shield of faith. This shield is the weapon made by and of the faith of Lord Jesus Christ for whom it is impossible to lie. We rest securely protected from all the fiery darts of the wicked seeking to undermine our faith and trust in you. Lord Jesus we extinguish the fiery darts of the wicked totally. They fall down TOTALLY harmless, useless and powerless against your mighty shield of faith.  We put our trust and faith in you alone and fully believe your word, correctly understood and lived. Your truth is eternal, inerrant, and sealed within our hearts, minds and spirits forever, by your mighty power.

 Eph. 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
