Beloveds, we must clear up the lie that when the Lord told Joshua he would have good success through obeying the Law, that this was meant for Christians today. The Lord told this to Joshua that in obeying the Old Covenant of the Law God would give him success in conquering certain lands and taking these lands for the nation of Israel: Joshua 1: 5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. 6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

Also in keeping the Old Covenant of the Law, (which is all they had from God), he would not face the wrath of God and die as Aaron and Moses did for their disobedience to God in not keeping the Old Covenant of the Law: Num. 27: 12 And the LORD said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel. 13 And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered. 14 For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.

Moses never preached that the Old Covenant of the Law would make anyone permanently righteous in the sight of God. Here is the truth, preached by our Saviour Jesus Christ: Jhn 5:46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.

Luk 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

Gal 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, THEN CHRIST IS DEAD IN VAIN.

See Galatians 3, which explains God’s purposes for the Law; and how Jesus Christ has delivered us from it for all time. Feel free to study on your own the numerous verses that fully declare that Jesus Christ is the eternal Saviour and final sole source of eternal salvation for all time for all who believe in Him. See John 14:6.

Anyone willfully claiming salvation based on keeping the Old Covenant of the Law and/ or combining it with the New Covenant of Jesus Christ, or anything else is not considered a Christian according to the Bible.

Gal 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, THEN CHRIST IS DEAD IN VAIN.

Gal 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the CURSE: for it is written, CURSED is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. 11 But that NO MAN is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

          1Ti. 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;
7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

1Ti 1:9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; 11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Beloveds as strange as it may seem to some, God makes it clear in His word, that the underlying motivations of our hearts determines whether or not He is pleased with anything that we do in his behalf. It is God that sets the eternal, final, unchanging standard, by His word, correctly understood. It is God and no one else. God's way that is the only right way, and the only right way is God's way. Saints (G40 hagios), while we are eternally secure as Christians, growth is progressive as we grow through study/obeying God and applying His word to our everyday lives, out of love and trust in Him. He tells us in His word that His sheep hear Him: John 10: 27-30, and also that they will follow Him. Key words here beloveds, is hear and do, there can be absolutely no separation, the one that hears must also do, and that doing must absolutely be based upon what God says.

The overweight brother or sister must never lose hope, and truly has absolutely no reason to do so, no matter how long the sin or issue has been. True help will always come from our Lord, as we carefully, faithfully, humbly bring our motivations in line with God's word. What this means, children of light, is that yes while we want to feel better, look better, improve health, etc., the real question is do we want to please God out of love for Him. Make no mistake about it children of God, we are heavily involved to the max in a deep spiritual/non-carnal love relationship with our God that is red hot and burning. This totally spiritual hot love is the only kind our King is interested in with us and rightfully expects in return, as well as among ourselves.

John 14:21 kjv He that hath my commandments and keepth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

This then brethren is how God will know that we love Him. God's help is freely given when we bring our minds and hearts in line with His word out of love for Him, and demonstrate in our behaviours, thoughts and beliefs. We cannot and must never blame God, for the consequences of our own sin. We must address the spiritual issues in these situations, no matter how painful the truth may be, it is ultimately the source of true healing. We Christians do not fight for victory, we fight from victory. We have the indwelling God, even the Holy Spirit who stands eternally on our side, ready to help and guide us to sure victory as we lay down our own wills to do God's will. God wants better for us then we do for ourselves. Let us continually praise Lord Jesus for eternal love, eternal salvation and eternal life.

8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. 9 Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.

    Psalms 32:8-9 (KJV)

8 I will instruct you (says the Lord) and guide you along the best pathway for your life; I will advise you and watch your progress. 9 Don't be like a senseless horse or mule that has to have a bit in its mouth to keep it in line!

    Psalms 32:8-9 (TLB)

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

    Prov 3:5-6 (KJV)

6 In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.

    Prov 3:6 (TLB)

13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. 15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

    John 16:13-15 (KJV)

13 When the Holy Spirit, who is truth, comes, he shall guide you into all truth, for he will not be presenting his own ideas, but will be passing on to you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. 14 He shall praise me and bring me great honor by showing you my glory.

    John 16:13-14 (TLB)

Children of the living God here are some scriptures to meditate and reflect upon. I have presented them twice in the the KJV version and the Living Bible version also, for the understanding. I pray, beloved, that we understand that our Lord is the One who is able to guide us in His wisdom, and lead us into all truth. I pray that every saint (G40 hagios) will lean upon, and rely upon our God in complete trust and confidence in His word. Now, also we must understand we cannot follow one whom we do not know. Our Lord has given us His word ,  to be correctly understood, believed and lived so that we may know Him. Now also no one will act upon what he or she does not believe in their heart is true. God is good all the time, no matter what, and all the time God is good, no matter what happens. He is our way out, not formulas, not gurus, not rituals etc.

God loves us greatly, and commands, expects as a part and parcel of true worship that we will follow Him, according to His word. Behold your God, He is our strength, our Wisdom, and True Helper. Another part of worship is that we will love, trust and obey Him according to His word, not emotions, not the standards of this world, not philosophies, socialism, darwinism or any other isms. Dear children of light, even if some of you have been overweight a long time, and tried many things which either failed or was short lived, God has your answer. I ponder that in this matter of gaining control over one's weight, if the issue does not rest with gaining control over a most formidable adversary-the old man or old nature. Let us stop here for now, dear ones, and God willing we will continue next time. Take heart, with patience in the Lord, beloveds.

WHAT CAN THE OVERWEIGHT CHRISTIAN DO?

The problem of being overweight, for some of those saints (G40 hagios), who have struggled with this issue, has taken on a mystique all of its own, that it is so gargantuan that it cannot be easily dealt with, this is not true. I ponder the agony of defeat that some Christians face, just going to their closets, to check what garment still fits. Some may have a closet filled with various sized clothing, of what can still be worn, and clothing too small, that they hang onto, yearning to one day to be able to wear them again.

Yet dearly beloveds, our feelings of defeat, our defeatist emotions, are not the standard. When we began to believe our own hype, and trust in our own emotions rather than the word of  God either out of a lack of understanding, refusal to trust, outright rebellion, or some other reason, we hurt our own cause, and delay the sure help that comes from our Triune God.

Oh, I know that some feel that nothing can help them with this problem, and that is the problem, for God is not nothing He is everything and has given each and every of us His children all that we need for life and service, through  Jesus Christ His son, who gave Himself for us. By Him every believer has also been indwelt by our Triune God and received the G1411 dynamis ,  kjv Luke 24:49, power from on High.

6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

    Heb 11:6 (KJV)

G4100( Believe) pisteuo, from G4102 (pistis); to have faith (in, upon, or with respect to, a person or thing), i.e. credit; by implication to entrust (especially one's spiritual well-being to Christ) :- believe (-r), commit (to trust), put in trust with.

—Strong's Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary

Feel free to look up the other highlighted words in yellow on your own.

Beloveds, I ponder if sheep tend to be dense ( I believe I am amongst the top of the list), for God repeats the same things many times and in many different ways  in the Bible so that we can easily understand what He is in us and to us, and how we are to live in Him and to Him. He instructs us in minute detail, on many levels, even in how we must think and especially how we must believe all that He has told us.

Again children of light, I am not painting with a broad brush here, many Christians do not have any problem with their weight, but all of us will be dealing with some issue of sin or other issues until our King returns. We will all experience some trial or tribulation that the Bible shows us how to deal with them according to God’s word, correctly understood.

Perhaps to some what I am posting here seems too plain, not sophisticated, somehow too simple and even unrefined in language. I would agree with this in great delight, not counting on myself to change anyone, but encouraging every saint to trust on God’s power that comes through Him alone, as we correctly understand and live out His word in our everyday lives.

God, through the Bible writes in simple words, because He wants His children to easily understand it. It is foolish for us to believe or think that through verbal gymnastics, and usage of big words we can impress others to get them to trust God.  (see Hebrews 4:12). God also does not need anyone’s skill in the usage of big words, mainly glorifying self and not God.

8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

    Isaiah 42:7-8 (KJV)

Let us stop here for now, children of the Living God, and I hope to see you here next time.

    Love
