STUDIES IN HEBREWS
CHAPTER SEVEN
Brothers and sisters, let us, the family of priests of our eternally
living God and Father, bring our spiritual tithes unto our Great eternally Living
Saviour, High Priest/Mediator God the Son Jesus Christ, whom God has given to
us forever. Although He will not speak, our Lord’s nail scarred hands always
extend graciously to receive all that we bring/dedicate to Him out of our love
for Him.
Lord Jesus, we your holy family of priests come to you, in
the presence of our Great God and Father, although we can pray, and ask for
anything that we need, we have not come to ask you for anything. Instead, we
frankly come for the sole purpose of giving you our spiritual tithes of love
and praises to pour out to you for your abundant love, mercy and truth, and undying gratitude for your
atoning work in which we are forever saved.
You have no need to speak for you have freely shown us your heart
of compassion in blessing us and giving us the power to
produce our fruit in service to you.
Lord Jesus, just as Abraham, did not ask for anything from
you, but gave you the first tithes from his heart, because he
recognized/understood/knew without a doubt that you are far and above greater
than himself and worthy of all He possessed; so do we Lord from our hearts,
spiritually give unto you our true spiritual tithes of all that we do out of love for you
and in service to you in our daily lives. Lord Jesus. You know our hearts and there is no need for you to speak when the hearts of
God’s people commune with the very heart of God, for love is the true language of the heart.
Holy brethren, think about this our first human parent Adam
had a full belly every day in God’s Garden Eden. He had everything, he needed, blessings, a
wife, shelter, protection. He never suffered a headache or any form of sickness
in that Garden, and at the beginning there was no death yet, so evidently God meant
for him and his wife Eve to have eternal life. This means his progeny was to have eternal life too.
Despite all this, dearly beloveds, Adam refused to defend the
word of God when the serpent showed up. The serpent could tempt but he cannot
make anyone sin against their own will. Nobody threatened or twisted Adams arm
to force him to sin, he sinned of his own free will.
Adam chose to believe
the word of the serpent over the word of God; proving himself to be unfaithful
and unbelieving. He deliberately chose not to protect Eve, although he could
have. Adam put his own interests above that of Eve. Adam was slick, he did
nothing to prevent Eve from taking the forbidden fruit and eating it, to see if
she would actually die as God had said.
It was only when he saw she didn’t die, and there was no risk to himself, that
he went and took some to eat himself. God proved Adam a liar, because he blamed Eve, making an
excuse to evade being blamed rightly for his own sin: 1Ti 2:14
God allowed Adam to be tested and tried and proved him to
also be a thief,
because the forbidden fruit was not his to take. He was proven to be greedy/envious
in chosing to try and be like God rather than to serve Him. However, holy brethren,
we know that an atonement was made for Adam and Eve; Gen 3:21.
Adam’s
sin still had devestating consequences for the human race as a whole and the
very fiber of nature itself; and
as they say the rest is history. Feel free to read more on the serpent’s
punishment on your own, brethren: Gen 3:1-24.
Brothers and sisters, some might say, if God knew all that
was to happen beforehand why did He allow it? Those who ask these kinds of
questions do not know nor understand the love, faithfulness, power, and mercy
of God. You see God gives
every human being free will, the same as He gave to all the angels, to obey or
not and to receive the consequences good or bad. Even so, God still stacks the
deck in giving with any temptations that people face arising internally or
externally, the power to escape from it if any so choose, the same today as He
did then: 1Co
10:13.
Nevertheless, God cannot be controlled by or bound by the
will of man, for God remains in control working everything out according to His
own will and purposes: Eph 1:11, (let’s
take a deep breath of relief here, brethren, and thank God that He has not left
us to the will of man!).
Some might ask what has this to do with this study? The
answer is everything, in that God the Father sent unto mankind the Deliverer, the
last and final Adam Jesus Christ: Rom 5:14; 1Co 15:45; 1Co 15:22; 1Co 15:45.
Jesus had no garden from which to feed Himself. He was often
hungry; He had no place of His own in which to live. Unlike the first Adam, Jesus
the final Adam, having fasted forty days and nights, although very hungry,
nevertheless resisted all the temptations of the devil in the wilderness. Jesus
lived a sinless life and overcame in all His temptations and trials.
His bride rejected Him, hated Him, reviled Him, scorned Him
and plotted His death. Yet, Jesus always sought to protect her, remained
faithful to her, and never abandoned her. He defeated her human enemies and her
enemy the devil, bruising his head and taking from him the keys of death and
hell that the first Adam had forfeited through sin.
After His resurrection in power and eternal life, Jesus
became the Author of eternal
Salvation, Heb 5:9, and
High Priest over the house of God forever. Jesus was never angry with His Bride, His love
for her never waned in any way. When she changed her mind and came to Him in
repentance, stained with sins, the stench of her fornications with many lovers
still upon her, He received her eagerly, for He was always faithfully waiting
for her return. Jesus washed her, cleansed her, freely forgiving her of all her
sins, never even mentioning them to her again, as though they never happened.
Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.
Yet, some do boast in great error of their own works as the standard for
salvation but blessed are all who trust in the eternal truth of the final
finished and complete atonement of Lord Jesus Christ for their salvation. Those
who do not are still unsaved and will die in their sins and wake up in hell, unless
they repent. As for those who persist in error that their own works saved them Jesus
absolutely declares: Jhn 10:1; Jhn 10:9.
Heb 7:23
And they truly were many priests, because they
were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
God, through Paul the apostle, and our brother relentlessly
and continuously keeps showing these Hebrew Christians and us plainly the true
nature of the sinful human priests of the Old Covenant of the Law. They were
just weak limited SINFUL
men, limited by death, limited in power, just like all other sinful ordinary
men. They had no righteousness of their own and it was a death sentence for any
of them to show up in the tabernacle without being dressed in the holy attire that
God demanded that they wear to perform their duties in the tabernacle. More
often than not they put their
own interests above that of the people.
God the Father is forever completely done with the Aaronic
priesthood under the Mosaic Law, He never destined it to be permanent, but to be
done away upon the complete, final, finished perfect atoning work of God His
Son Jesus Christ. Do any of us believe or think we have a choice not to be done
with the law and its Aaronic priesthood forever too? No one will please God or ever be accepted by Him through works of the law.
Heb 7:24
But this man,
because he continueth ever, hath an
unchangeable priesthood.
Heb 7:25
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the
uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he
ever liveth to make intercession for them
Lord Jesus the fully man/God is incomparable to those sinful
human priests, He is pure and holy in His entire being, his life is forever with
no end and no beginning. Jesus paid for our sins, but Jesus never sinned.
The power of Jesus’ atonement is so perfect there is no need
for another sacrifice, and because He lives forever, He is super-able to save
forever without the possiblility of failure all that believe and turn to Him.
Heb 7:26
For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher
than the heavens;
Heb 7:27Who needeth not daily, as those
high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his
own sins, and then for the people's: for this he
did once, when he offered
up himself.
The Aaronic priests had to keep “short accounts” to prevent
being punished with the curse, punishment or death. They loved God but obeyed
out of fear not love. Interestingly, the punishment, curse and death promised
by the law did nothing to prevent Israel from committing continual and terrible
sins against God, as though they could hide their sins from Him.
Jesus Christ had no need to offer up a sacrifice for His own
sins, as He NEVER sinned
and NEVER had any sins.
Lord Jesus took our sins to pay for them forever with the sacrifice of Himself,
voluntarily. Jesus always
has free will and gave of Himself freely out of love for God His Father, not
fear of punishment: Jhn 10:18; Gal 2:20; Eph 5:25; 1Ti 2:6; Tit 2:14.

STUDIES IN HEBREWS
CHAPTER SEVEN
Brothers and sisters, let us continually praise our Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ for His eternal love, mercy and truth. Lord Jesus consume
us in the holy fire of your intense all powerful love. We cry out earnestly
with all of our hearts, spirits, and minds that you will take us to the deepest
depth, height and width of your eternal truth. Lord Jesus, give us the fullness
of God’s knowledge in you, our great treasure in heaven who lives in us, that
we will fully understand you and live to please you in every way.
Thanks be to God the Father for the multitude of faithful
ministers and the body general. Yet, there are ministries among them that are
teetering on the brink of extiction. This is not because they are not sincere, not
because they lack the basic understanding that they are saved, but because they
never prepared themselves to go forth with the understanding of the gospel
message as a whole, but rely, relied on their own personal understanding: Luk 12:47.
These are some of the
kinds of works that God shall burn up: 1Co 3:15. Brethren, let us pray that any such will
step back from the brink of disaster, and devote themselves to be rooted in the
full gospel message before it is too late.
A while back a ministry set up an addictions group. A man who
was an alcoholic was seen sneaking a drink from a flask he had in his pocket in
the church. Although it was reported the ministry felt barring the man from the
church as members wanted to do was too extreme. One day during church service
the members heard loud crashes. They rushed out to find the same man in an
intoxicated state had damaged multiple cars of the members. The church paid for
the damages and dismissed the man from the church but helped him get into a
treatment program, and offered to receive him once again after he could
demonstrate that he had attained sobriety..
It can be costly for any of us, brethren, to disobey the word
of God, for there are always consequences. Some of God’s commands might seem
harsh to some of us, however, our Creator knows human nature far better than we
do. Anyone under the spirit of alcohol or any other substance is not open to
the Holy Spirit: Eph 5:18. Many
times for the safety of others and the addict there is a need for ongoing
medical care and supervision, sometimes court ordered. We can avoid a lot of
problems by trusting the Lord and living according to His word.
Many things shout out to us in this study as well as in the
whole of scripture. God’s oath
appears many times from Genesis in the Old Testament on down to New Testament.
Brothers and sisters, God is not making an argument about God His Son Jesus
Christ, but an absolute declaration about Him, in this oath, that only God can
make: Jesus Christ is the sole High Priest forever. None other is necessary
seeing none besides Him is worthy. Jesus Christ is the only Mediator between God
and man, all impostors are deemed the enemy of God.
Heb 7:20
And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:
Heb 7:21
(For those priests were made without an
oath; but this with an oath by him that
said unto him, The
Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a
priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)
God’s oath to God His Son Jesus Christ establishing Him as
High Priest is unbreakable forever by anyone or any thing.
Again and again, holy brethren, we know God has placed His
Son Jesus Christ as High Priest forever over the house of God, any who comes
against the Son of God Jesus Christ, is calling God the Father a liar, and will
make himself an adversary of God the Father, and will be resisted by God the Holy
Spirit.
Heb 7:22
By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
Jesus changed everything forever. We are given freely His New Covenant established in the New law of grace. It is the only Covenant we will
ever need. Through God, Jesus is the NEW High Priest, has a New Priesthood, a New tithe, the New perfect atonement. Again, dearly beloveds, Jesus is Not a replacement but an entirely New High Priest
destined from before eternity.
Dear friends of Jesus, let us stop here with our eyes focused
on Lord Jesus Christ, giving our worship, thanks, blessings, honor and glory to Him for all
that He has done for us to pay for ALL of our sins forever, and has seated us in heavenly
places with Himself in the very presence of God our Father: Eph 2:6; Rev 3:21. Understand, dearly beloveds, spiritually our conversation is with Him in heaven, even though we are physically present on earth.

STUDIES IN HEBREWS
CHAPTER SEVEN
Brothers and sisters, let us bless God our Father, and God
His Son Jesus Christ, the seed of Abraham, our glorious Saviour, and God the Holy
Spirit for Their eternal love, mercy and truth. Had God not left us His Seed
Lord Jesus Christ, Gal 3:16, we
would have been destined to be destroyed even as the sinful cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, which God destroyed in His wrath:
Ro 9:29.
But now, holy brethren, we- all who believe in Lord Jesus
Christ, God the Son, are washed clean
in, by, and through His precious sinless blood: Rev 1:5. Therefore,
holy brethren, as children of the day, and of the light, let us continually rejoice
in the grace of our Lord and Saviour, God the Son Jesus Christ, who has made us
His very own and brought us unto God His Father and ours forever and filled us
with His eternal light: 1Th 5:5.
Jesus
is with us, in us. He knows everything about us, what we think, how we feel,
everything we go through. We wake up with Him; He is there with us all through
the night, and every second of our lives. He will never leave us nor forsake
us and will take us unto Himself at our end: Heb 13:5; Rom 8:39; Jde 1:24.
We are all responsible, accountable, and commanded by God to study,
correctly understand, and live the gospel message. The Bible won’t read itself.
We all have to start by picking it up
and reading it from beginning to end to understand it as a whole over time in
order to live it as a whole and be pleasing to God.
Paul well understood the dangers of being ignorant
of scripture in any way of either the Law or grace. Paul is a prime example of
someone who had been deceived by false teachers, brought up from his youth by
them, Act 22:3, to
see the Christian faith and its followers as a threat to be destroyed. Paul
persecuted the church in ignorance. Although it was in ignorance it still had
to be stopped. Thanks be to Lord Jesus Christ who stopped it and opened up
Paul’s eyes.
Holy brethren, misinterpretation of scripture, whether in
ignorance or knowingly is no less dangerous and destructive to the word of God and
to His people. The righteous, like Paul, will receive correction, and repent,
but the wicked never will to their damnation.
Thank God for the multitude of
faithful ministers, and the many in the body general who are faithful and
mature in the gospel, and for those who are open to correction and repentance
from error to rest in the truth of the eternal, inerrant, finished and complete
absolute gospel message of Jesus Christ.
Yet, there are some among us who are still ignorant of who
Lord Jesus is because they did not know any better or never bothered to read
the Bible as a whole to find out who He is. Instead, they relied or rely on
reading bits and pieces of the Bible here and there, gaining no true
understanding of any of it as a whole. If you asked some of them who Jesus
is, they would likely tell you that
Jesus is just one of the three aspects of God’s own Self.
This would falsely mean that God is composed of three aspects
of Himself or His own personality, and not actually three separate eternal
persons of the GodHead who coexist as God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ,
and God the Holy Spirit, bound inseparably in love as One God for all eternity.
Again, if God the Father were simply the manifestations of 3
types or aspects of His own personality, which is what some ignorantly believe,
it would mean that Jesus, and the Holy Spirit exist only as aspects of God the
Father’s own Self and are not actual eternal Persons of the GodHead.
We can see the dangerous, and blasphemous absurdity of this. Anyone
who receives correction and understands the truth of the gospel who choose to
remain impenitent are still dead in their sins.
Then there are those who for the same reasons in error see God
the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit as three separate Gods who
operate independently of one another, with no understanding of the truth that
they are three eternal Persons although separate still indivisible forever ONE God working synergistically together.
These are likely to preach the lie that Jesus is in heaven and can’t hear
prayers way up there, so He has left men in charge of the church on earth, and
the Holy Spirit to save people. Reading understanding and living the whole of
the Bible is the cure for biblical ignorance, showing no one has to stay
ignorant.
There are consequences for any of us who knowingly choose to
disobey God after having come to understand the truth. Paul for one instance
warned Christians to examine themselves so as not to take communion in an
unworthy manner: 1Co 11:27-31.
However, we obey our God out of love, not fear of punishment.
On to the subject of tithing, the Bible shows that the
tithing done by command of God for Israel under the law is done away in Christ,
along with the Aaronic priesthood under the law. There will be more on this in
other chapters of Hebrews and elsewhere in scripture.
Tithing under the Melchisedecian Priesthood of Jesus Christ
can only be received by Him alone. It is forbidden for any mere human being to
command that this tithe be given to them as some kind of agent between Jesus
and His people.
This tithe is not commanded by God, but is entirely voluntary, has absolutely
nothing to do with the law, nor the Aaronic priesthood disolved in Christ; is received by Jesus directly without comment to the giver, who
receives absolutely no manner of material goods from God for giving their
tithes, and is blessed eternally before the tithes were ever given.
This evidently is a spiritual tithe absolutely and only
between God and the believer. The believer is motivated out of love for God in
thought, mind, heart, intentions, motivations, and purposes to offer up what
they choose to do for God; fully knowing that nothing not done out of love for
Him is accepted by Him. I love the way our Lord Jesus frankly declares that:
Luk 12:34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
There is no curse, death, or punishment attached to this
tithe, Jesus took care of that: Gal 3:13.
There is no need to beg for blessings in exchange for this
tithe, Jesus took care of that too: Gal 3:14.
Jesus will not pay you, me nor anyone for this tithe seeing
He paid God for all our sins, delivered us from the Law, delivered us from death;
delivered from the power of darkness; the wrath of God; blessed us with ALL
spiritual blessings: Rev 1:5; Rom 7:6; 2Co 1:10; Col 1:13; 1Th 1:10; Eph 1:3. Therefore, we owe Him everything.
In the fullest sense the Christian tithe is a voluntary spiritual love offering
from the hearts of God’s people to God, with LOVE of God undergirding our
innermost motivations for all that we do for, by, and through Him.
Jacob’s tithing is not normative. Again, brethren, Jacob was
blessed before he
ever offered a voluntary
tithe, which he vowed to fulfil only if God gave him
material goods FIRST:
Gen 28:20-22.
Interestingly, God never responded to Jacob’s vow. He acquired his material wealth from hard work
over many years to support his family: Gen 30:43. There
is not one shred of biblical evidence that God miraculously gave Jacob a great
herd of animals or food. No, Jacob worked to acquire everything he had,
although he did have a knowledge of natural medicine that he used in animal
husbandry: Gen
30:39.
Some, hoping to find some wiggle room, some loop- holes, some
way to justify the command to tithe as given under the law and abolished in Christ might say that there is no way to get
our tithes up to Jesus seeing He is in heaven.
However, they would be absolutely wrong, which shows that they
have a carnal understanding, not seeing the spiritual nature of tithing under
the New Covenant of Jesus Christ, which has nothing to do with and makes
absolutely no promises from God that the giver will receive material goods or
riches of any kind in return for giving a tithe.
Is not God the Son Jesus Christ Omniscient, Omnipotent and
Omnipresent? Is not Jesus Christ indwelling His people along with God the Father
and God the Holy Spirit? The answer in both cases is absolutely yes.
Is Jesus who lives in His people, able to know our thoughts
and the deepest innermost beliefs in our minds and hearts to discern who we
truly are and whether or not what we offer to Him is motivated out of love or
not? We know the answer here without doubt is yes too. Therefore, Jesus is well
able to receive our spiritual tithes given to Him out of love.
Brothers and sisters, God, through Paul the apostle
absolutely continues to prove that the Highpriesthood of Jesus Christ is
absolutely declared by God to be the superior, ONLY accepted High Priest of the
New Covenant; through whom God has abolished the Law and the Aaronic priesthood
forever. Notice how this theme is repeated by God over and over to get His
point across without any misunderstanding?
There can be no going forward to Christian maturity without
knowing everything that God wants us to know about Jesus Christ, which stablilizes the believers
in the truth and keeps them from the temptation of trying to return for any
reason to the Law and the Aaronic priesthood abolished in Jesus Christ forever. The lack of this essential knowledge is why some ministries are stalled and never seem able to get off the ground.
Heb 7:13
For he of whom these things are
spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no
man gave attendance at the altar.
Heb 7:14
For it is evident that our Lord sprang out
of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.
Heb 7:15
And it is yet far more evident: for that
after the similitude of Melchisedec there
ariseth another priest
Heb 7:16Who is
made, not after the
law of a carnal commandment, but after the
power of an endless life.
Holy brethren, from the above verses, we know, it should be obvious
that the Mosaic carnal Law is abolished in Jesus Christ, establishing Him as
the only High Priest we will ever need for all eternity.
Heb 7:17
For he testifieth, Thou art a
priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
Again, holy brethren, Jesus Christ is the only High Priest we
need for all eternity. Confess Him with me holy brethren. Lord Jesus, we confess
and believe that even as God our Father has declared for all eternity YOU Lord Jesus alone are our
High Priest forever, Amen.
Heb 7:18
For there is verily a disannulling of the
commandment going before for the
weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
Heb 7:19
For the law made nothing perfect, but the
bringing in of a better hope did; by the
which we draw nigh unto God.
Confess with me, dearly beloveds, Lord Jesus we confess that through
you alone our hope is realized for all eternity, for it is through you alone
that we have been given the right and blessings to come into the presence of God
our Father forever.

STUDIES IN HEBREWS
CHAPTER 7
Brothers and sisters, let us worship and pour out our liberal
love and thank offerings to our God, the Almighty God, Possessor of heaven and
earth, Omnipotent Potentate, Dread Soverign Lord, Unbeatable, Unconquerable,
Undefeatable, and Indestructible who lives forever. No man, no woman, no
creature, no thing, shall ever pluck us from the hand of our Almighty God.
I love you all, and give our Lord Jesus Christ, God the Son, our
Pearl of Great Price, God of all wisdom, our Beloved Saviour and Elder Brother
thanks for you, and for making us, and all who believe in Him, His forever
family. Let us go to our Lord Jesus Christ’s table once again, to eat and drink
to the full in Him, in His word.
We know, brethren, we can ask Him for extra helpings
of His spiritual food and get plenty to take home to eat afterwards. God does
carry outs, and deliveries to whereever His kids need His spiritual food. In
truth Jesus knows what we need before we ever ask Him.
Holy people, I know I am not alone in doing a whole lot of praying
in this study for those who have made something of tithing that is not
scriptural. Raise your hand if you ever believed something sincerely regarding
the scriptures, but when you actually looked in the Bible you found out that what
you sincerely believed or had been taught just was not true? I raised my hand. We
all have one choice
acceptable to God in such cases, be corrected, repent, do God’s will, not our
own, whatever the cost. God’s word tests, trys and proves who is a true
Christian or not: Jhn14:21; Jhn 14:24.
Back in grade school most of us are taught standard
measurements such as 12 inches equals one foot, therefore they are exactly the same, one is not
nor can be greater than the other. Now if anyone persistently resists this
truth, we can definitely say that they are really, really bad at basic math,
and we should not and can never rely on them to teach us anything about math.
Now, brethren, in the same way we know that if anyone has
been taught and understands the absolute truth, that our resurrected Lord and
Saviour, God the Son is
declared to be equal with God clearly in scripture, whom God the Father has made the Only source of life for all that
believe in Him; whom God
the Father has exalted the Son with Himself to be above every name that
is named, declares His Son to be God, has given Him the Judgement Seat of
Christ, a throne on His right hand, commands that He receive the same worship
and is equal with Himself, yet persistently, wrongfully and in great error concludes
that one is greater than the other, we can absolutely conclude with absolute biblical authority that such a
person can neither be trusted or relied upon to teach us anything about the Christians
faith.
People like that, we know are absolutely declared by God to
be false teachers. False teachers also like to mix or interweave Jewish fables
or some other doctrines of men into the gospel such as the noahide laws, found
nowhere in scripture, which God absolutely forbids and is another gospel, not
the true gospel: Tit 1:14; Gal 1:8; Gal 1:9; 2Jo 1:9.
All who love God, dearly beloveds, and trust in Him, we know,
will believe all that He commands and instructs, because we know, that He will
never lie or deceive us in any manner whatsoever. This is why we know that we can
absolutely relax, resting in His love and truth, knowing we are kept on the
right path of eternal life by living His way and pleasing Him out of love as we
ought.
Some,
holy people, look for wiggle room, to find some way to justify tithing. They
might say that between the tithes paid by Abraham to Melchisedec, and the tithing under the law, that Jacob vowed to give God tithes, so this means it is still necessary for Christians to tithe today in order to be blessed by God and to receive an abundance of earthly goods.
However, interestingly Jacob
vowed to tithe ONLY IF GOD BLESSED AND PROVIDED FOR HIM FIRST: Gen 28:20.
Another thing, brothers and sisters, we note that God prior to the Law received their tithes without any comment to them whatsoever. In no case prior to the Mosaic
Law did God give anything to those from whom he received tithes.
However, we do know that God has absolutely declared to the
whole world: Psa
50:12; Act
17:25. So none of us should expect that God will be fawning over us and thanking
us for any of our goods that we give to Him anytime soon.
Paul is immersing, he is relentlessly plunging these Hebrew
believers into the gospel message to fill up the gaps in their knowledge and
lack of spiritual maturity caused by their careless neglect of the word. This has
to be done for any of us who have been neglectful of the gospel message. We
have to faithfully and vigorously over the course of time read and study the
whole Bible to understand it as a whole and to be able to live it daily and to
help others do the same.
Heb 7:11
If therefore perfection were by the
Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was
there that another priest should rise after the
order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the
order of Aaron?
Here, holy people, through Paul, our God gives us a test
question, if the Aaronic priesthood under the Law was all that, how come we need a Mechisedecian
priesthood totally different from and
not out of this Aaronic priesthood? Based
on Paul’s earlier teachings we should easily know the answer. Paul expects us
to know the answer based on his earlier teachings, this is why he explicitly
jumps to the following verse to frankly, without delay expound IN ABSOLUTES
again:
Heb 7:12
For the
priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a
change also of the law.
Jesus the perfect High Priest, Jesus whose sacrifice is
perfect changes everything the Law, the priesthood forever, and THERE IS NO
GOING BACK OR MIXING OF ONE WITH THE OTHER.
That division saints (G40 hagios), I
mentioned earlier that we made dividing in two with the Melchisedecian priesthood on
one side vs the Aaronic priesthood on the other. Write the New Covenant of Jesus
Christ above the only one that God has declared as the only covenant valid for Christians
for all time.
God Himself makes it clear, brethren, that this is an all-out
head- to- head, toe- to- toe full on comparison and contrasting of these two
priesthoods, with God absolutely declaring for all time that the High Priesthood of God His Son Jesus Christ is superior and
eternal forever over all. Next, we will look at tithing under the New Covenant of Jesus Christ.

STUDIES IN HEBREWS
CHAPTER 7
Brothers and sisters, we meet again to sit at our Lord’s
table to dine on all the goodly things He has prepared for us in the presence
of God our Father, and the Holy Spirit, all working together to bless instruct
and help us in our understanding of God and how to live His word daily out of love and trust in Him.
I suggest we get this understanding of tithing deep in our
minds and heart. It might be helpful if we get a piece of paper and draw a line
straight down the middle vertically or just see it in our minds if we like. Put
the Aaronic Priesthood on one side and the Melchisedecian Order of Jesus Christ
on the other half, or just think of it that way in our minds if we like.
As we go along note the similarities/differences between
them. At the bottom of the page write
down which is accepted and established by God and the reason for all eternity
and which one has been abolished by God and the reason for all eternity, and/or
hold this truth in our minds. Let us share everything we learn with our
brothers and sisters.
Tithing is in great controversey, some people have stopped
going to churches because they feel its all about money. Then there are others
who feel that they are in good standing with God because they faithfully pay
their tithes. Again, dearly beloveds, the only way to settle these and any
questions regarding God is to go and see what God said in His word, correctly
interpreted, then trust and obey Him in whatever He commands, or rebel and do
it our way. What people do with the word of God will always test, try, and prove
who is and who is not a true Christian: Jhn 14:21; Jhn 14:24.
Sometimes people jump out into ministries not tethered to the
gospel message, ignorantly or wilfully tethered to their own personal agenda
and ideas of what they think is the gospel message, and get themselves into all
kinds of difficulties because of it. Let us pray mightily for those who have
done this, that they will believe and accept what God teaches about tithing,
although for some it may be costly. Keep in mind we are studying tithing, not
giving which is not the subject of this study, but feel free to study giving on
your own.
In this study, holy people God lays out for us two orders of
priesthood that are being compared and contrasted: The Aaronic Levitical
Priesthood of the Mosaic Law vs The Mechisedecian Priesthood of Jesus Christ. Each
order has its own High Priest.
NOTE: in both orders all tithes gathered must be presented to God directly Through the High
Priest, NO EXCEPTIONS, NO OTHER MEDIATORS JUST THESE TWO. (more on this later).
Ex. Of the Aaronic high Priest: 2Ki 12:10,
Ex. Melchisedecian High Priest: previously given by chapters.
The question, holy brethren, can these two orders of priesthoods
be combined? Although some do it in error, the answer is no they cannot ever be
combined in any way. Why not? Because God the Father has disolved/abolished the
Levitcal priesthood limited to the offspring of Levi, which is no longer needed
nor necessary, although unbelieveing Jews remain on earth and continue this practice.
Therefore, in its place, God has established the superior Melchisedecian Priesthood
of Jesus Christ for all eternity composed of the off spring of Jesus Christ- of
all believers in Him: Eph 1:5; Gal 4:5.
Heb 7:6
But he whose descent
is not counted from them received tithes of
Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.
Before the Aaronic order of priests was ever established, God
already had a greater priest not decended from the Aaronic order of Priests
seeing Levi had not yet been born..
First thing, brothers and sisters, a priest/Mediator had to
be present to receive tithes to God. ABRAHAM WAS FED AND BLESSED BY MELCHISEDEC BEFORE HE GAVE THE
TITHE.
Again, we see here that Abraham did not give tithes to get a
blessing or to be fed, because he received both before he gave his tithes voluntarily.
Scripture refernces: Gen 14:20-22.
We look at the kind of man Abraham was, brethren, who was
acceptable to Melchisedec. When God called Abraham out from amongst his people,
he went out without question in trust and faith. Many times our comfort zone is
centered in the places where we live. Abraham was tested by God to leave his
comfort zone. He was able to do it because his comfort zone was in his God not a plot of land.
Abraham gave voluntarily what he wanted to give, tithes of
all he had. He was not told how much to give, so its obvious the choice and the
amount to give was up to him.
Heb 7:7
And without all contradiction the less is
blessed of the better.
Abraham gave tithes recognizing Melchisedec as far greater
than Himself.
Heb 7:8 And here men that
die receive tithes; but there he receiveth
them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
The Levitical priesthood of natural men who die is still
present on earth, who still receives tithes, UNDER THE LAW of curse, death and
punishment. However, Melchisedec received tithes being witnessed by the word of
God that He ever lives having no beginning and no end, like the Son of God to
receive tithes forever.
Heb 7:9
And as I may so
say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed
tithes in Abraham.
Heb 7:10For he
was yet in the loins of his
father, when Melchisedec met him.
Levi had not been born, however, brethren, the male sperma that
would later produce him in union with a woman was latent in the body of Abraham
when he met Melchisedec, in this sense God regarded that Levi had paid tithes
too.
Love and
truth, serola
