STUDIES IN HEBREWS CHAPTER FIVE (END NOTES)
All praises and thanks to our Almighty,
Unbeatable, Unconquerable, Invincible, Indestructible, Most Holy and Sovereign God,
who enjoys hearing His children call Him Father.
Thanks, and praises be to our Saviour Jesus
Christ who put the Holy Spirit in us, and every believer, encouraging us to
joyfully without fear cry out to our Father God calling Him our Father: Mat 6:9.
We understand that although God created
all men, absolutely only those who come to God the Father through Lord Jesus Christ
are His children.
The Lord blesses you brothers and sisters,
I love you so much and appreciate your patience in this study. Praise our great
Shepherd of the flock Jesus Christ for the sweet perfume of His intense fervent
love and truth, which is the balm of our comfort, and the sustainer of our hearts,
as we wait for His return as He surely will even as He has promised.
Brothers and sisters, we know that we are
all responsible and accountable to God to labor in His word to grow in knowing,
living, and loving Him, one another, and all men.
The Bible is our absolute standard even
the primer by which we can measure our own growth over time. The Bible is of no
private interpretation. Certainly, dearly beloveds, we may all arrive at
different times, learning the word incrementally, but it is the expectation of
God that at some point we absolutely reach stability in the comprehensive
understanding of the New Covenant of Jesus Christ.
Brothers and sisters, the beginning
essential elementary foundational truths of the New Covenant must be taught
incrementally to every new believer, which lays the absolute sole underpinning upon
which we can all move forward to being taught the finished deeper tenets of the
faith. This matures, grounds, anchors/stabilizes every believer firmly, immovably,
comprehensively in the Christian faith of truth, love, and trust in God.
Dearly beloveds, God gives us such a powerful,
wonderful example in the apostle Paul, as well as all the apostles, in his care
of the flock, a diligent teacher attentive to the needs of the brethren. He assumed nothing but tested
his disciples on going to see where they were in their Christian growth.
Paul with great care and patience took steps
to help them remediate any areas of deficiency in their learning, walk and
growth. I pray every ministry will also be such an example in addition to the
body general participating as a whole. Let us remember always that we are never
competitors, but fellow laborers striving to unite the body in the bond of
love, truth, and unity in God through the New Covenant of our Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ.
Our great God gives us through Paul the apostle,
and all the apostles, the biblical primer, and wonderful examples, in understanding
the matured vital knowledge absolutely necessary for those appointed as elders
to guide, teach, and protect the New Covenant message and all believers.
Despite all the terrible trials that Paul
suffered, it did not defeat him. Paul as a matured man of God remained patient,
steadfast, not shaken in his trials/sufferings, but through them was perfected
in faith and proved he was worthy of his position as apostle and experienced
teacher.
Paul and none of the apostles lives were
isolated from but deeply woven/ intertwined within the lives of their brothers
and sisters and reflected in their love, affection, and humility towards the
flock and God.
Had Paul only been interested in establishing
a kingdom to glorify himself, he would have kept the disciples he made close to
himself to build up some kind of organization that would have been used by him
to enrich himself.
Instead, he sent the disciples out in the
interest of establishing God’s kingdom. They along with Paul made extraordinary
efforts near and wide, at times even under hardship to go everywhere they could
to reach the lost, giving of themselves gladly.
Saints (G40 hagios) we end this fifth
chapter of Hebrews and will go on to the sixth chapter next. Let us keep in
mind all the earlier teachings of the prior chapters to build upon in the
upcoming chapters of Hebrews.
Pray for me brethren, for I am praying
for you too early and often.
Love and truth, serola

STUDIES IN HEBREWS
CHAPTER FIVE
Dearly beloveds, how gracious is our Lord
and Saviour that we should be so blessed to know the mystery of Jesus Christ,
and to have God’s command, right, pleasure and privilege to share it with one
another and the whole world: Col 1:26
Even the mystery which hath
been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made
manifest to his saints:
Col 1:27 To
whom God would make known
what the riches of the glory of this mystery is among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope
of glory.
Our
beloved brother Paul who speaks so fervently through whom God addressed not
only His Hebrew Christian brethren to remediate their willful neglect of the Christian
doctrine, but in many scriptures admonished some of the gentile believers also.
None
of us should be slothful, forgetful hearers, or neglect the study, practice and
living the word of God.
Let
us keep in mind, brethren, that the Bible gives us a primer on signs of the
spiritually stunted/ babes and warns us that those who willfully remain
spiritual babes, fail to grow spiritually as they should and therefore are
still carnal, not yet spiritual, walking as natural men, worldly, and from whom
destructive divisions, strife, self-promotion, and even heresies arise among
the body of Christ.
Thanks
be to God for always giving us everything we need for correction and growth in
the doctrine of Christ.
Heb
5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full
age, even those who by reason of use have their
senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
FULL AGE: brought to its end, finished,
wanting nothing necessary to completeness, perfect, that which is perfect,
consummate human integrity and virtue, full grown, adult, of full age, mature. One
who is competent, fully trained, skilled in comprehensively
apprehending/understanding the full word in the knowledge of God so as to live
and teach it effectively, thereby enabling others to grow and share in the same
way.
REASON OF USE: obtaining a skill on
account of or through a habit whether of body or mind; a power acquired by
custom, practice, use.
SENSES: faculty
of the mind for perceiving, understanding, judging
EXERCISED: to exercise vigorously, in any
way, either the body or the mind.
TO DISCERN BOTH GOOD AND EVIL: a distinguishing, discerning, judging: the
full grown, spiritually mature Christian, through habitual vigorous, rigorous training/drilling/practicing
their spiritual faculties, out of love, trust and obedience to God, gain
through Him-bear fruit in the ability to know, distinguish, recognize and
identify what is the absolute spiritual good of truth in God as set in
scripture correctly interpreted and lived as well as being exercised in also knowing
absolutely that which is evil, pernicious, corrupt and the antithesis of God
wherever and regardless of where it presents itself in the world as well as to
recognize the presence of error when it occurs in the doctrines of Jesus Christ
escaping being gullible or deceived by it in any manner.

STUDIES IN HEBREWS
CHAPTER 5
Brothers and sisters, let us bless the Lord our God and Maker,
Omnipotent Potentate, Possessor of heaven and earth, God Almighty, Dred
Sovereign Lord, and our dear and very own Heavenly Father, who in His mercy,
love and kindness has given us His only begotten Son Jesus Christ, who has
saved us forever. Jesus is our glorious Saviour, the Pearl of Great Price, the very
Treasure of Heaven, King of kings, Lord of lords, Prince of Peace, the Ancient
of Days, and Jewish Messiah for all who believe and obey Him.
Thanks be to our Awesome God who has taken us into Himself because
of the full complete eternal atoning work of our Elder Brother and Lord Jesus Christ,
who washed us in His sinless blood, baptized and filled us, and all who believe, with the Holy Spirit the
moment we believed, circumcised our hearts giving salvation as an eternal gift, then indwelling our
spirit even with Himself, along with God the Father, and the Holy Spirit.
We return to the study, holy brethren, burning with love before and
for our God, as holy flames reflecting His very light and life as His holy family,
and with open Bibles in the presence and guidance of our triune God to fellowship
together with Him and one another in His word and to abundantly enjoy, feast on
His wisdom, love, and truth.
Heb 5:10 Called of God an
high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
Heb 5:11 Of whom we have many
things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye
are dull of hearing.
…whom we have many things to say: of the
Man/God His full office and work as the
essential Word of God, Jesus Christ, the personal wisdom and power in union and
equal with God, his minister in creation and government of the universe, the
cause of all the world's life both physical and ethical, which for the
procurement of man's salvation put on human nature in the person of Jesus the
Messiah, Son of God, Son of David, Seed of Abraham, the second person in the
Godhead, and shone forth visibly from His words and deeds.
HARD TO BE UTTERED: hard to interpret, difficult to explain (to anyone who
chooses to be slothful and too lazy or disinclined to listen, understand, retain and practice what is
taught).
DULL OF HEARING: willingly lazy, slothful by choice.
Brothers and sisters, certainly, these
Jewish Christians, through choosing to neglect study and refusing to retain
what they were taught were the cause of their own lack of growth and remaining
spiritual infants. Therefore, they became spiritual cripples useless to teach
others anything, and difficult to teach the deeper truths of scripture. They
were essentially living like unbelievers apart from the veneration and
upholding of lives that mark the Christian walk.
Heb 5:12 For when
for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye
have need that one teach you again which be the
first principles of the oracles of God; and are become
such as have need of milk, and not of
strong meat. While as new believers we do need and are at first only able to understand the (milk) elementary principles of scriptures, however God expects every Christian to grow further on to maturity as we are taught, retain practice and faithfully apply the word (strong meat full gospel) to our lives daily.
FIRST PRINCIPLES: the beginning elementary, rudiments, and principles of scripture.
NEED OF MILK: metaph. one who is weak, not inclined to desire anything
other than easily digestible milk, the very elementary principles of scripture.
Brethren, that these believing Jews had allowed
themselves to decline to this state of regression is extraordinary seeing it
was common for Jews to be taught the Old Testament, the covenants, and the Messianic/Abrahamic
promises of the coming establishment by God of the New High Priest/New Covenant,
most certainly from a very early age, in addition to being instructed in New
Testament grace by the apostles.
Heb 5:13 For every
one that useth milk is unskilful in the
word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
EVERY ONE: all, every person without exception.
USETH MILK: having the ability to only make use of the elementary knowledge
of the less difficult tenants of scripture.
UNSKILFUL: inexperienced, i.e. ignorant: —unskillful.
BABE: an infant, little child, not of age; metaph. childish,
untaught, unskilled.
Dearly
beloveds, we know that remaining in spiritual babyhood can never be justified and is never
acceptable to God. Again, holy brethren,
we know that eternal babyhood is not a doctrine of the New Testament of Jesus
Christ and is not found in the whole of scripture. Interestingly we do find in scripture, and amazingly, so an example where it was necessary for the apostles to teach and prevent some believing Jews from ignorantly and in error teaching gentile believers they had to obey the law of Moses to be saved: Act 15:5. We learn from scripture that
willful spiritual ignorance, sloth is ultimately damaging/injurious, and stunts spiritual growth, and never serves the
body of Christ when it arises.
Praise Lord Jesus, brethren, we know that no
believer has to remain in ignorance or in a willful regressed state of stunted spiritual growth which causes a lack of understanding of the
full Christian doctrine, because God freely and mercifully provides knowledge
and instructs His children how to spiritually grow up/mature, and overcome their short comings in His word. The
righteous will repent, turn and obey God out of reverence and love when taught the truth, but
the wicked never will.
Love and truth,
serola

STUDIES IN HEBREWS
CHAPTER FIVE
Brothers and sisters,
God did not write His word to those seeing themselves as religious gurus,
pundits, scholars, so-called theologians, clinical expounders of esoteric
theories, or the big man on campus, who enter scriptural study cold, distant, sterile,
only in the realm of the intellect leaving out a heart of love and veneration for
our Awesome God and love for His people. God left His word for His family who
is also to take it out into the world that all men who hear and believe on Jesus will be saved.
There are no man-made
qualifications necessary to study the Bible. It is the work of all of us with the aid of our Triune God to individually and as a whole to study/labor in the Bible. Again and again, dearly beloveds, God reminds us that we are
all equal, although we do not all hold the same office. All who hold the office
of oversight among the flock of God, do so as servants never Lords. Indeed, let
us remember to serve one another even as Lord Jesus taught us by His example in
coming to serve. God reminds us too that no one in the church is above church
discipline.
Heb
5:7 Who in the days of
his flesh, when he had offered
up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him
that was able to save him from death, and was
heard in that he feared; Heb
5:8 Though he were a Son, yet
learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; Heb
5:9 And being made perfect, he
became the author of eternal salvation unto all them
that obey him;
Heb
5:10 Called of God an
high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
In the above verses, holy brethren, God reminds
us again and again that His Son Jesus Christ had to suffer to pay for our sins-
take our punishment for them, suffer death and gain salvation for the whole
world. His suffering was never to be in theory or theoretical, but totally experiential.
He would feel all the emotions, agony pain, and the revulsion of one who being totally
sinless must now willingly take on the sins of the world. He had never sinned,
never raped, killed, stolen, lied, cheated, never indulged in evil and impure
thoughts, never rebelled against God. He suffered many indignities from those
He came to save, along with many temptations, even of the devil. Jesus resisted every and all temptation,
remaining sinless and faithful out of love and trust in God His Father. Jesus learned
to rest on His Father and cry out to Him for all the help that He needed in the time of His great suffering and temptations. Jesus
remained faithful that God His Father was well able to deliver Him even from
death, and therefore Jesus went willingly to pay for the sins of the whole
world.
The Son of God learned through the things
He suffered that God is faithful to help and can be absolutely trusted and counted on to strengthen
and deliver at all times.
Again, we know, dearly beloveds, that Christ died to pay for our sins. However,
it is error to make light of or to dumb
down the death of Jesus Christ as merely taking our place on the cross for us
as a substitute, because we know that in the sight of God the Father no human
being other than the sinless Jesus Christ had a place or any right to be on the
cross.
All sinners had coming from God was punishment and death. Had Lord Jesus not chosen to go to the cross to PAY for our sins, there being absolutely no one other than Jesus Christ
qualified by God to offer the perfect
sacrifice for sinful mankind, the sinful world would have instantly and rightly received God’s
well-deserved utter final destruction, wrath, punishment and death: Rom 9:29 - And as Esaias said
before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a
seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made
like unto Gomorrha.
Let us, holy people, continually reflect back
in thanks and gratitude to God upon the gravest and most important event of all time in human history for all mankind; that although Jesus had the right by God His
Father not to die for our sins, without penalty to Him of any kind: Mat 26:53; He chose instead to save all who will believe on Him from all their sins, the wrath of God and eternal condemnation.
Again brethren, Jesus well understood His sacrifice of
Himself had to be willing, voluntary. God had declared the fullness of the time
had come for the whole earth; a sacrifice was now necessary to prevent the
final wrath of God from destroying a sinful world. Despite His suffering, Christ
chose willingly to obey God out of love, reverence and trust in His Father and bestowed His love and mercy to save us at the
cost of His own life, while we were yet sinners, proving He is the Son in His obedience, and proving He is
God in His love, for God is love-even loving His enemies. The atoning work of Jesus Christ is the sole event that changed the whole trajectory of
all mankind from doom to hope, the forgiveness of sin and reconciliation with God.
brothers and sisters, we know that Jesus changed the time. Time was going
forward prior to the atonement of Jesus Christ. After His atonement time is
running out to the time when God will declare that time shall be no more, when
He comes through His Son Jesus Christ in final judgement to reward His saints
(G40 hagios) with eternal blessings in His kingdom, but to punish sinners and
the devil in eternal flames of everlasting torment, in the lake of
fire for ever and ever.

STUDIES IN HEBREWS
CHAPTER FIVE
Brothers and sisters, we can feel the pleasure of our Father God in
presenting to us His Son Jesus Christ, our Saviour, High Priest/Mediator,
through whom we have been adopted into His family forever. Praise God, because
of Jesus, when God gives us the spiritual blood test, we are a perfect match
with the sinless blood of Jesus flowing through our spiritual veins. When God
does the spiritual DNA test, we match perfectly here also showing we are
birthed true to the original seed, from which we came, which is incorruptible
and UNdefiled: 1Pe
1:23.
Let us keep in remembrance brethren, as God warned us through His
apostles and prophets that false teachers would enter in among the multitude of
faithful believers. There was never a time when it was a good thing to be biblically
ignorant, and even more true in these last days. We have the record of the deadly
consequences to those caught in the snares of false teachers. It goes without
saying we cannot properly serve a God we do not know. We know Him through His
word correctly interpreted.
We can’t possibly fail to note that there has been zero mention in
the whole Bible of any works, denominations, institutions, organization, human
doctrines, redemptrices, or any persons outside of Jesus Christ through whom
anyone can be saved. We reflect back to: Heb 1: 3Who being the brightness
of his glory, and the express image of his person, and
upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down
on the right hand of the Majesty on high…
Among the many faithful, there are some among us who are standing
on the brink of leaving this earth who are resting on something other than or
in combination with faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is through Christ alone by
faith alone by grace alone. Salvation is unearnable, unbuyable, unrepayable, and
unmerited. God will not negotiate, compromise, or bow down to the will of men
or women. I pray that any such would escape eternal damnation and secure their
spiritual future in being made a child of God, and come quickly to repent as God
commands all, to put their trust in Jesus Christ confessing and believing that:
Rom 10: 9-11.
Dearly beloveds, as we continue in this study under the guidance of
our Triune God, who work together synergistically in our behalf, we feel again
and again, the utmost urgency/pressure of God our Father to understand that we
are His family, and what He has written to us is as the family of God. We feel
the intense urgings of God the Holy Spirit to come running home to Jesus, who
awaits us at all times. Jesus ceaselessly calls us with arms out stretched to come
to Him to find everything we need, spiritual wholeness, the deepest sense of
rest, belonging, help, understanding, along with abundant love and care for our
needs and even our very souls. We cannot do anything without Jesus, we rest in
His strength alone: Jhn 15:5.
Let us continue in this study and all scripture always as the
family of God, holy brethren.
Heb 5:7 Who in the
days of his flesh, when he had offered
up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him
that was able to save him from death, and was
heard in that he feared; Heb 5:8 Though he
were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things
which he suffered;
God our Father, having shown us His Son’s impeccable credentials as
the only One fit to be the permanent High Priest, abruptly brings us back again
to point out to us that His Son Jesus Christ paid a high price to obtain His
office. Here, brothers and sisters, none should be tempted to think that since Jesus
is after all God the Son with power, it could not have been a great deal for
Him to overcome suffering. It would be a terrible error to think this way as
some among us think, because the suffering of Lord Jesus was an extremely big
deal, it was the gravest time in human history for all mankind.

STUDIES IN HEBREWS
CHAPTER FIVE
Brothers and sisters, thank God that He can be trusted in all His
word. Because of His absolute truthfulness we have no reason to be suspicious,
or doubtful of Him. Indeed, it is the highest form of insult for anyone to
doubt Him and suspect that He is capable of untruth or error. The greatest
danger we face is ignorance of scripture. In knowing the word for ourselves we
can share it faithfully with others and not be deceived by those who pervert
the gospel. Indeed, we have on record the deadly consequences to many who were
deceived by false teachers. Therefore, we know, holy brethren of the utmost
urgency to be steadfast in living the gospel rightly interpreted which is the
bond of unity for all believers in the sight of God.
Praise the Lord, holy brethren, we know in whom we have believed
and rest upon our Rock forever. As we move forward in this study, retaining/applying what we have already been taught in prior chapters, we observe how God the Father
unfolds it as in layers gradually revealing more and deeper understanding of
His plan of salvation until the whole is fully grasped as being eternally rooted
in His Son Jesus Christ forever. It is as though the revealing of each layer
represents our spiritual food that strengthens us at each feeding with the
truth, mercy and love of God and consequently growing us incrementally in our
faith as well as in our understanding.
Heb
5:1
For every high priest taken from among men is
ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he
may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
ORDAINED: to set one over a thing (in charge of it); to appoint one
to administer an office.
Heb
5:2 Who
can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are
out of the way; for that he himself also is
compassed with infirmity.
COMPASSION: In the sense of to preserve moderation in the passions,
esp. anger or grief; of one who is not unduly disturbed by the errors, faults,
sins of others, but bears them gently.
IGNORANT: to be ignorant, not to know
through lack of information, not to understand, unknown, to err or sin through
mistake, to be wrong.
OUT OF THE WAY: to roam (from safety, truth, or virtue): —go
astray, be deceived, err, seduced, sin, wander, be out of the way.
Heb
5:3
And by reason hereof he ought, as for the
people, so also for himself, to
offer for sins.
Heb
5:4
And no man taketh this honour unto
himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
Jesus Christ unlike the sinful human High Priests never sinned as all the scriptures attest.
Dearly beloveds, God explicitly shows us that He alone has the
authority and is in charge of who can be the High Priest. It is He alone that
sets the standard, duties, conduct and character of the High Priests of God to
make atonement for the sins of the people as well as for himself.
We know, holy brethren, that God the Father checked off Aaron in
terms of meeting the standards etc., He
established for the High Priesthood: had to be called of God and from the tribe
of Levi, Had to be genetic male circumcised Jew: had to be physically perfect
that is without any physical blemish, had to be morally perfect in heart, have
life experienced in his own difficulties and trials, compassionate,
understanding of others similar in sufferings
so as not to be a harsh unreasonable
judge in dealing with the sins of the people for whom he alone had authority
from God to be the Mediator to offer gifts and sacrifices to God for their sins
as well as his own.
God,
dearly beloveds, gave us the full scriptures and we know how flawed, sinful,
and imperfect the Levitical priesthood was, seeing that the first human High
Priest, Aaron, was defrocked by God and punished with death for rebellion,
according to the Law. Although some of the High Priests were faithful, over time they degenerated to the point where
all they were interested in were money, power, control, not helping the
people, even robbing widows., and keeping the kingdom for themselves. In the end they would even resort to murder the
Messiah to keep it.
Heb
5:5 So also Christ glorified not himself to
be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to
day have I begotten thee.
Heb
5:6 As he
saith also in another place, Thou art a
priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
Brothers
and sisters, God is unequivocally giving us a full head on comparison and
contrast of the human Levitical High Priest with the God Man High Priest, and
we will continue to find in all cases that the God Man Jesus Christ is the
superior High Priest in every way.
The Bible,
dearly beloveds, takes great care to repeatedly outline in general, specific,
and in the minutiae the nature and the character of Jesus Christ and His
qualifications as the eternal High Priest and Saviour. Jesus Christ alone met
and exceeded God’s standard for anyone to be the new eternal High Priest after the order of Melchizedek. For this reason, Jesus Christ, who lives
forever, is the sole permanently
ordained High Priest, Mediator, Saviour, and Lord for all eternity.
Clearly, holy brethren, God has no need to appoint a successor High Priest seeing that Jesus Christ
lives forever with everlasting power and authority to make intercession for the
saints (G40 hagios) before the throne of His Father (and ours) forever.
Jesus
Christ although He is the Son of God, did not presumptuously on His own decide
that He would become a high priest. Instead, He waited until God His Father
called and appointed Him to this office, after being tested, tried, and proven faithful in His perfect obedience to the will of His Father in all things.
Heb
5: 5So also Christ glorified not himself to
be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou
art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. 6As he saith also in another place,
Thou art a priest for ever after the
order of Melchisedec.
We
can proclaim with great confidence that Christians have no need for any further additional High Priests, co redeemers, redemptrices, doctrines or traditions of
mere men, denominations, organizations, institutions etc. for all
eternity.
God the Father declared to Jesus “Thou art my Son, to day have I
begotten thee.” It meant that God the Father had fully vetted, established, and
proven that His Son always totally faithful in His sufferings, tests and trials was the only One fit as both Man and God for the honor of this high permanent office, and therefore invested with ALL
authority and power in heaven and on earth.
We do well to remember, dearly beloveds, that the High Priesthood
of Lord Jesus Christ is after the order of Melchizedek, properly due to One like God who
has no beginning, no end and life eternal, with the heart of Man and God perfected
in One. Jesus met all the qualifications as a man called to the order of Melchizedek to be High Priest and
exceeded them as He met all the qualifications proving Himself before the
Father to be the true and the ONLY begotten Son in His perfect faith and
obedience out of love for the Father and all men.

STUDIES IN HEBREWS
CHAPTER FIVE
Brothers and sisters, thank God that we His Saints
(G40 hagios), can come as we are, crying out to our Elder brother, our great
High Priest Jesus Christ for help with any of our troubles, needs, petitions,
prayers, intercessions, and requests with open hearts with full assurance and
confidence that we will receive of Him the help we need. There is no need to
hide anything from Him seeing that He knows our needs even before we ask of
Him.
The Bible is clear, true believers can
have doubt that arises out of ignorance, a lack of knowledge or understanding
of the word of God regarding Jesus Christ and even salvation. However, that
being said, the true believer will not continue to doubt after he or she has
been well taught but over time will come to believe, will remain stable in
faith, and will refuse to ever waiver or waver- step back from it.
Holy brethren, I have laid out the fifth
chapter of Hebrews, let us be encouraged to drink into it, eat heartily of it, let
it minister to us in whatever way God desires for our personal edification and
we will return to the study of it. In every study, dearly beloveds, let us do
it with open bibles together. The Lord blesses you, strengthens you, comforts
you, guides you and always brings to our remembrance that His love and truth is
our portion forever as His dear holy family.
Heb 5:1 For every high
priest taken from among men is
ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he
may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
Heb 5:2 Who
can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are
out of the way; for that he himself also is
compassed with infirmity.
Heb 5:3 And by
reason hereof he ought, as for the
people, so also for himself, to
offer for sins.
Heb 5:4 And no man taketh this
honour unto himself, but he that is
called of God, as was Aaron.
Heb 5:5 So also Christ glorified not himself to
be made an high priest; but he that
said unto him, Thou art my Son, to
day have I begotten thee.
Heb 5:6 As he
saith also in another place, Thou art a
priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
Heb 5:7 Who in the
days of his flesh, when he had offered
up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him
that was able to save him from death, and was
heard in that he feared;
Heb 5:8 Though he
were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things
which he suffered;
Heb 5:9 And being
made perfect, he became the author of
eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
Heb 5:10 Called of God an
high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
Heb 5:11 Of whom we have many
things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye
are dull of hearing.
Heb 5:12 For when
for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye
have need that one teach you again which be the
first principles of the oracles of God; and are become
such as have need of milk, and not of
strong meat.
Heb 5:13 For every
one that useth milk is unskilful in the
word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
Heb 5:14 But strong meat belongeth
to them that are of full age, even those who by
reason of use have their
senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
