IN HEBREWS
CHAPTER
FOUR
Dearly
beloveds, we know that we never study scripture alone or unguided by God our Father,
informed by God the Holy Spirit and led by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, God
the Son. This is the first time in human history that men not only have direct
access to God through faith in His Son Jesus Christ, but through Him the power
to secure their future.
For
the Holy Spirit speaks that for the first time in human history ONE even the
Saviour Jesus Christ, has come back from the dead to everlasting life to
testify to the whole world that THE FUTURE IS NOW, BECAUSE THE GRAVE IS NOT THE END BUT THE BEGINNING OF OUR FUTURE
to everlasting life and joy with God for all who believe in Him, or instead,
for the unbelievers who reject Him, refuse to believe in Him, everlasting damnation,
separation from God, torment/punishment in the final judgement in the lake of
fire with the devil, and his angels forever and ever.
Holy
people, we should never out of fear of offending the world dumb down or seek to
sugar coat the gospel message- that there are wonderful benefits for every
believer, and unchanging horrific consequence for those who reject the gospel
message.
Praise
God, brothers, and sisters, that we, all who believe have hope and a certain
future now having joy in His presence and beyond the grave. Therefore, we can
stand with our brother Job: Job 19:25 -27.
Heb
4: 14 Seeing
then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus
the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
HOLD
FAST: to get possession of, to obtain, to take hold of, take, seize to hold
fast, i.e., not discard or let go, To keep carefully and faithfully, to
continue to hold, to retain.
OUR
PROFESSION: subjectively: whom we profess to be ours; objectively: profession
[confession] i.e. what one professes [confesses]:
Mat
10:32; Ro 10:9-11.
BELIEVETH:
to be convicted, convinced and fully persuaded to rely on, and entrust oneself
to Jesus Christ as the sole provider of and sole source for one’s spiritual
wellbeing and eternal salvation: Act
4:12.
Holy
people, there has never been a High Priest like Jesus Christ. He is man and God
incarnate, greater than Moses, the angels, and all men. He is absolutely utterly
faithful and true to God and His people forever.
Heb
4:15 - For we
have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the
feeling of our infirmities; but was in all
points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
TOUCHED:
to be affected with the same feeling as another, to sympathize with, to feel
for, have compassion on.
I.INFIRMITIES:
want of strength, weakness, infirmity
A. of the body
i.its
native weakness and frailty
ii.feebleness
of health or sickness
B. of the soul
.want
of strength and capacity requisite
a. to understand a thing
b. to do things great and glorious
c. to restrain corrupt desires
d. to bear trials and troubles
Lord
Jesus is never going to be unsympathetic, callused or say to us just suck it up
everybody gets tempted, but always offers real help and comfort as someone who
has experienced temptation without sinning, without practicing sin, who will be
able to profoundly strengthen and greatly aid us to do the same.
Heb
4:16 - Let
us therefore come boldly unto the throne of
grace, that we may
obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time
of need.
Brothers and sisters, we have no need to
hesitate or be afraid to come to our Lord Jesus. We don’t need special
clothing, we do not need to ask a natural person’s permission, we can come
anytime or day of the week as often as we need and desire, no need is too small
or too big for Him to help us with. We can come kneeling, standing, laying
down, walking, sick or well. We can come as we are, bluntly, frankly, without the performance of
rituals of any kind.

CHAPTER
FOUR
Brothers
and sisters, what a blessing it is for us- all believers throughout the whole world
to be united together and be made a part of God’s forever family through Jesus Christ
the Son of God. Let us praise Jesus, our elder brother, who is true and
eternally our faithful Saviour, Lord, Almighty God, Kinsman Redeemer, Deliverer,
our Rock, and the Good Shepherd of the flock of God.
Brethren,
let us continually please our Father God by not allowing divisions of any sort
into His holy family where He has made all equal whether Jew or gentile. Instead,
let us focus on His eternal truth and love one another even as God has loved
us, and always be compassionate, lifting up, admonishing, edifying, praying, and
caring for one another for God’s sake. In this way of demonstrating our love
for Him and each other the whole world will know that our God is truly in us.
Let
us continue into the study, saints (G40 hagios), always as the family of God,
welcome children. We gain the understanding of God's worldview when we grasp fully that our everyday life is to be integrated, lived and guided in His word, not that of this sinful temporal world. God the Father wants us to know Jesus comprehensively including His High Priesthood.
It
is clear that God speaking/teaching/encouraging/admonishing through the mouth of
Paul the apostle directly to the Jews, and giving direct examples to the
gentiles, is also still speaking directly to us now and eternally, in general,
specific and in minutiae detail regarding His Son Jesus Christ, not as visitors,
strangers, or guests, but as His people, His forever family.
Heb
4:14 - Seeing then that
we have a great high priest, that is passed into the
heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
WE
HAVE: to have, i.e., to hold; to have (hold) in the hand, in the sense of
wearing, to hold fast keep, to have i.e. own, possess, used of those joined to
any one by the bonds of natural blood or marriage or friendship or of
attendance or companionship; to hold one's self to a thing, to lay hold of a
thing, to adhere or cling to; to be closely joined to a person or a thing.
We
see, brethren, once again, having barely stepped into the presence of the High
Priest Jesus Christ, God the Father is urging, compelling, and encouraging us
to quickly, fully, embrace, cherish, love, adore His Son Jesus in a deeply
personal and spiritually pure intimate way as His very own family should and
indeed must.
Again
and again, our Father God assures us that although Lord Jesus is the great High
Priest, He is also our elder brother who belongs to us in the personal, intimate, unbreakable bond of eternal kinship through the atoning work of His body and blood.
Again, let
us, as His brothers and sisters, without hesitation or delay, with all of our
hearts, quickly, gratefully obey God our Father, to His delight and lay hands
on, embrace, cling to, feel, touch and rest on Jesus, for He is also holding us
individually and as a whole in His nail scarred hands with an unbreakable grip,
and there is no man no creature that shall ever be able to separate or pluck us
from His almighty hands.
Let
us be mindful, dearly beloveds, that although Jesus Christ in His perfected body as Man and God wholly Incarnate has passed into the heavens, where He ministers as High Priest in the true tabernacle, stands as our
Intercessor/Advocate before the throne of God and is preparing a place for us
and will return to bring us to Himself at the appointed time, He is as God the
Father has taught us in eternal truth, God the Son, equal with God in omniscience,
omnipotence and omnipresence.
Therefore, we can be absolutely assured that He can hear our prayers from anywhere on
earth, for NO BELIEVER IS EVER ALONE, for this is impossible seeing that Jesus God the Son personally indwells/lives with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit in the spirit of every
believer, and is the active, fully engaged Head of the church, watching over it,
guiding and protecting it as a whole and each believer individually. We are never speaking of three Gods, but One God in three persons: God the Son Jesus Christ, God the Father, and God the Holy Spirit: 1Jo 5:7-8.
Lord
Jesus has not left His God appointed Authority/power/rulership as Head of the
church in the hands of mere men, all believers are to be and remain under His Authority
as ordained by God the Father.
We
also understand and can be confident that Lord Jesus, God the Father, and the Holy
Spirit work together synergistically with almighty power in and on behalf of
all believers everywhere. love and truth, serola

STUDIES IN HEBREWS
CHAPTER FOUR
Dearly beloveds, as children of God, and
priests under our High Priest Jesus Christ, who circumcises all believers, Col
2:11, in washing us from all our sins in His
own sinless blood, anoints us with the indwelling Holy Ghost, by the grace of God our Father,
let us go before Him, with our hearts burning with love, bringing the sweet
sacrifices of thank offerings, praises, and blessings to His Holy Name. Lord Jesus,
let our heartfelt offerings to you be a sweet incense before your throne, for
you are worthy.
Most of us know that we are not just pew
sitters, but that each of us have received the ministry of reconciliation of
the New Covenant of Jesus Christ to live privately, and publicly as His priests
in the world, and to minister His will, love, and care to one another and in
the world, while doing all the good that we can towards all men.
Heb
4:12 - For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even
to the dividing asunder of
soul and spirit, and of the
joints and marrow, and is a discerner of
the thoughts and intents of the heart.
QUICK:
to be fresh, strong, efficient.
POWERFUL:
active, operative: —effectual, powerful.
PIERCING:
to go through, penetrate thoroughly, pierce.
DISCERNER:
having the ability to trace out and pass judgment on the innermost even secret
thoughts of the mind, which lay deeply in the innermost recesses of the heart.
HEART:
the center, ultimate innermost foundation, and seat of spiritual life where
what one truly believes, holds in the mind, and lives therein is fully realized,
rooted , and sealed in thoughts, intentions,
motives, passions, desires, appetites, affections, purposes, endeavors, will
and character; whether good or bad.
The
word of God does not operate out of itself apart from God, but is integral with
Him:
Mar 4:14 - The sower soweth the word.
The word is generated from God its source unto people in the world. Jesus Christ
was authorized by God to bring forth the word of God through the New Covenant
to the world.
Jhn 12:48 - He
that
rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one
that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall
judge him in the last day.
This
is the same word of God that every believer too, is authorized by Him to preach and teach to
all in the world.
Brethren,
it is possible for one to conceal one’s true beliefs from other human beings or
even from oneself. However, what we do with the word of God, whether one
consistently obeys, or disobeys reveals the true Christian from the
impostor-false Christian.
The
word of God, dearly beloveds, is like a super Xray machine, that cannot ever be
prevented from showing the true heart of a person and what they really think
and believe about God, whether good or bad.
The
word of God goes past the outer appearances of people and is fully able to
judge correctly, and determine their true intentions, thoughts, and
their true nature that is hidden deep within
the deepest recesses of the inner man of the heart, without error of any kind. The
word of God is living and active although some say they are neither for nor
against it, the absolute truth is that God always knows that there are none
ever neutral to it: Jhn 12:48 - He
that
rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one
that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall
judge him in the last day.
Mar 4:14 - The sower soweth the word.
The word is generated from God its source unto people in the world.
Heb
4:13 - Neither is there any
creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all
things are naked and opened unto the
eyes of him with whom we have to do.
NAKED:
absolutely laid bare, stripped of the naked body- absolutely exposing fully the
soul within, with its full content laid naked open and bare.
Dearly
beloveds, we see that God over His house and the world, is, eternally
absolutely active, living, all-
powerful, illumined, executing discernibly, and penetrating all
things, and the discerning/judging without error the quality of every soul, and
heart whether it be turned to Him or choosing to turn away from Him.
No
one, holy brethren, should ever be tempted to see God as unengaged, passive, or
indifferent to each individual person. To the contrary, there is absolutely no
human being that can escape God’s sight and His absolute and intense examination
through His word of the deepest recesses of the mind and heart. God absolutely
exposes all, holds all responsible and accountable to Him, whether for reward
of the good or punishment of the wicked.
Therefore, no one can fool or trick God in any
way or manner whatsoever. All should be mindful of God’s absolute authority and
that His all-seeing eyes never close in sleep and are always upon us.
God’s
word reveals the innermost workings and the process through which He and Lord Jesus
and the holy spirit operate within His word towards all men. Jhn 15:1 - I am the
true vine, and my Father is the Husbandman. - Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he
taketh away: and every branch that
beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring
forth more fruit.
Likewise,
holy brethren, regarding Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God, we know that none of
us, brethren, should ever see Him as passive, unengaged, warm and fuzzy, wishy
washy, or touchy feely. Let none put their souls in peril of everlasting
damnation in adding to, taking away from or making light of His ministry over
the house of God: Mat 3:12 - Whose fan is in his hand, and he
will throughly
purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the
garner; but he will burn up the chaff with
unquenchable fire.
Jesus
is fully active and engaged with each person. He is testing, trying, proving, refining,
purifying the good, and purging out the bad. He wants us to come to Him
individually as well as in our gatherings of any size. As His priests let us
not fail to fulfill our priestly duties to bring Him our love offerings early
and often, and to eat and drink of Him in His word. We will starve spiritually
if we neglect this aspect of our walk with Him, and we do not ever have to do that.
Worst yet, holy people, we will be tempted to dine on useless junk food of the
world that cannot satisfy the deep hunger and need of our hearts that only He
can fill.

STUDIES IN HEBREWS
CHAPTER FOUR
Brothers and sisters, thanks, and praise
to God our Father that through God His Son Jesus Christ all believers for the
first time in human history have direct access to God the Father, God His Son
Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit. God our Father lovingly embraces us His children
and lavishes us with His Fatherly affections. He assures us that all who
believe in His Son Jesus Christ have the
eternal right to enter into the holies of holies where our Saviour, Lord, High
Priest and Elder Brother Jesus Christ awaits us, standing before the throne of God
His and our Father.
The excitement is building, holy
brethren, we will see Jesus, the One who has washed us from all of our sins
forever in His own sinless blood. Jesus, the One who loved us when we were His
enemies, yet in His faithfulness and love, saved us from the wrath of God to
come, delivered us from the power of darkness and made us children of Light,
children of God. We must need to answer one question: Have we rested yet?
Heb, 4: 10For he that is entered into
his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11Let us labour therefore to enter into that
rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
LABOR: to hasten, make haste. to exert oneself,
endeavor, give diligence.
When God, declared He rested from His
works, brothers and sisters, we know it does not mean He was tired and decided
to take a vacation. What it means, saints (G40 hagios), is that God found in
everlasting truth that His work was and will always be eternally perfect, finished and
complete, there was and will never be anything further for Him to do regarding
it.
In the same way, everyone who believes in
the final, finished, and complete atoning gospel of Jesus Christ have entered
into God’s rest for by faith they are convicted, convinced, fully persuaded and
in agreement with God that the work He has done through the atoning blood of
His Son Jesus Christ is completely sufficient, effective and eternal for
everlasting salvation.
The authentic believers grasp the eternal
truth that even their faith in believing is derived from the mercy of Jesus
Christ: Eph 2:8 - For
by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is
the gift of God: Phl
3:9 - And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of
the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which
is of God by faith:
Nothing in Heb 4: 11 is saying in any
manner whatsoever that Christians can lose their salvation. It is essential to
understand, holy people, many parents warn their children not to do or be like
this or that person. However, our heavenly Father is greater and wiser than any
human parent. When God instructs us not to do a thing that is displeasing in
His sight, He always explicitly instructs us what to do instead that will
please Him and be acceptable to Him. What God instructs us to do is what He has
also empowered us to do.
Therefore, God commands His children not
to do or follow the example of unrepentant unbelievers whom He will never accept,
never save, showing explicitly that unbelief is never accepted by Him. The
falling away of the unrepentant unbeliever, therefore, is not by accident but
by their own choosing, proving they were never saved in the first place.
Instead, God explicitly commands and
empowers all Christians to remain steadfast in love, obedience, and trust in Him.
And this we will surely do by the power of Almighty God. Brethren, feel free to
study further on your own scriptures confirming the everlasting truth that the
Christian does not lead a life of practicing sin, 1Jo 3:9; cannot
fall away, Jde 1:24; has
a mind like Christ, 1Co 2:16,
does not corrupt, 1Pe 1:23.

STUDIES IN HEBREWS
CHAPTER FOUR
Dearly beloveds, what a blessing from God that He has given us in
the sweet fellowship of the saints (G40 hagios) with Him and one another. We
know although we have the freedom to enjoy this present earth without abusing
it, that it is temporal. We have entered into it with nothing and most
certainly will carry nothing out of it. Praise God we will have more in the
world to come than we can ever have in this present world. God continues to
speak to us His holy family about God the Son Jesus Christ. The air seems heavy
laden with the sweet perfume of His holiness. God is so encouraging us as to
why we can come freely to His Son Jesus Christ, who made Himself so much like
us, loved us more than His own life, and has risen so that we will have eternal
life through Him. There is an air of expectancy, much excitement in the air,
having introduced us to God His Son Jesus Christ, showing us His heart, His
mind, His character, and His power, very soon God will usher us into His
ministry as High Priest in minute detail, where only those who believe may
enter.
Heb
4:8 - For if Jesus had
given them rest, then would he not afterward have
spoken of another day.
I want to prevent a study within a study,
brothers, and sisters, but it is necessary to clarify that the above verse is
absolutely not referencing Joshua, but the appearance in the Old Testament of the
Son of God Jesus Christ although it does not mention His name.
Jesus, God the Son of God in His omniscience
would know the rest God the Father intended would be an eternal spiritual rest,
not that found in attaining earthly lands nor through the Mosaic Law. I put
here Benson’s study which gives the concise understanding of who the man was
who met with Joshua:
Joshua 5:13
And
it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and
looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in
his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for
us, or for our adversaries?
Joshua
5:13. A man — One in the appearance of a man. With his
sword drawn — In readiness to fight, not, as Joshua thought, against him,
but for him and his people.
Joshua 5:14
And
he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come.
And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him,
What saith my lord unto his servant?
Joshua
5:14. As captain of the Lord’s host — Captain of this people, and
I will conduct and assist thee and them in this great undertaking. Now this
person was evidently not a created angel, but the Son of God, who went along
with the Israelites in this expedition, as their chief and captain. And this
appears, 1st, By his acceptance of adoration here, which a created angel would
not have dared to admit of. Because the place was made holy by his presence, (Joshua
5:15,) which to do was God’s prerogative, Exodus
3:5. 3d, Because he is called the Lord. Hebrew, Jehovah; chap. Joshua
6:2. My Lord — I acknowledge thee for my Lord and captain, and
therefore wait for thy commands, which I am ready to obey.
Joshua 5:15
And
the captain of the LORD'S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy
foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.
Joshua
5:15. From off thy foot — In token of reverence and
subjection. Holy — Consecrated by my presence. The very same order
which God gave to Moses at the bush, when he was sending him to bring Israel
out of Egypt, he here gives to Joshua for the confirming his faith, that as he
had been with Moses, so he would be with him.
The promised rest could never be in a
specific day called the Sabbath: Exo
31:15 - Six days may
work be done; but in the seventh is the
sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in
the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
The Mosaic law could never give the
people rest: Deu 27:26 - Cursed be he
that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them.
And all the people shall say, Amen.
Dearly beloveds, God is preparing us to go into the holy of holies where our High Priest Jesus Is. God sent His Son to bring Israel into the promised land. As GOD OF WAR feel free to study on your own when He fought and overcame some of Israel's foes without any of the human army of Israel.

STUDIES IN HEBREWS
CHAPTER FOUR
Brothers and sisters, thank you for your patience in this study. Thank
God, He left us His word so that we can freely eat and drink into our Lord and Saviour
Jesus Christ, God our Father, and the Holy Spirit for spiritual nurturance in abundance
and grow thereby. I pray for all of us to have patience: Rom 15:4 - For whatsoever
things were written aforetime were
written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of
the scriptures might have hope.
Holy brethren, it is obvious that God continues to speak to us in
absolutes concerning who is in with Him for all eternity and who will never be
in Him for all eternity. God explicitly, repeatedly compares and contrasts the
believer with the unbeliever, showing in all cases that the believer alone will
enter eternally into His kingdom rest and the unbeliever never will enter His kingdom rest for all eternity. We may search to see if there are exceptions
and will find none. Let us continue on in the study. If ever a book of the Bible
was writ in neon signs with dazzling spotlights this is certainly one of them
although it applies equally to all of them. God does not want anyone to miss
the truth of His word.
Heb 4:3For we
which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my
wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from
the foundation of the world.
Heb 4:4For he
spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did
rest the seventh day from all his works.
Heb 4: 5And in
this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
Heb 4:6Seeing
therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was
first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
Heb 4:7Again, he
limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is
said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
Brothers and sisters, throughout the Bible we plainly see that God
takes unbelief in Him as an extremely personal insult the-same as blasphemy or
calling Him a liar. God declares that unbelief arises out of an evil heart and
regards such persons as His enemies. Nevertheless, in His mercy He takes the
hammer and chisel of the truth of His inerrant eternal word to stony self-
hardened hearts so that they will know the penalty for any who chose to remain
in unrepentant unbelief-which is eternal condemnation and damnation. Those who
have fully heard and understood the gospel and choose to reject it have no
excuse or covering for their sin of turning their back on God.
Nevertheless, God takes no pleasure in the condemnation of the
wicked and is pleading with those who have hardened their hearts, that they
would repent and come believing God according to His word. God urges any
unbelievers do not wait until it is too late, tomorrow is not given for anyone.

CHAPTER FOUR
Brothers and sisters, thanks be to God for His continual love, truth,
and faithfulness. Holy people, let us say fervently with our mouths and in our
hearts-Blessed be the Ark of God, our High Priest Jesus Christ. Great Lord Jesus,
as God sealed Noah in the ark with the
certain souls with Him, so that they would not perish in the flood of God’s wrath, that washed away and destroyed
all of the wicked in the world that was, you Lord Jesus wash all who believe
in you from all their sins and have sealed all of your people in with you, the Holy
Spirit and God, having forever saved, sealed, delivered and protected them forever from the coming destruction and
judgement of God to the wicked of this present world.
Brethren, the air is crackling with electric urgency from God our
Father, the flames of his urgent command to all to believe is burning ferociously,
as we come nearer and nearer to look deeply into the High Priest God the Son Jesus
Christ. Why? You, know why brethren.
Heb
4:2 - For unto
us was the gospel preached, as well as unto
them: but the
word preached did not profit them, not being
mixed with faith in them that heard it.
GOSPEL:
used especially of the glad tidings of the coming kingdom of God, and of the
salvation to be obtained in it through Christ, and of what relates to this
salvation.
PREACHED:
glad tidings are brought to one, one has
glad tidings proclaimed to him; to proclaim glad tidings; instruct people
concerning the things that pertain to Christian salvation; εὐαγγελίζω euangelízō, yoo-ang-ghel-id'-zo; to announce good news ("evangelize") especially the gospel:—declare,
bring (declare, show) glad (good) tidings, preach (the gospel).
NOT PROFIT: Absolutely to not be of any use; benefit, advantage, prevail,
or profit.
FAITH: steadfast conviction of the truth, belief; of a conviction
or belief respecting man's relationship to God and divine things, generally
with the included idea of trust and holy fervor born of faith and joined with
it; the conviction that God exists and is the creator and ruler of all things,
the provider and bestower of eternal salvation through Christ; the strong and
welcome conviction or belief that Jesus is the Messiah, through whom we obtain
eternal salvation in the kingdom of God; beliefs of ALL Christians, without exceptions;
belief with the predominate idea of trust (or confidence) whether in God and in
Christ, springing from faith in the same; fidelity, faithfulness. Dearly beloveds, God is relentlessly pointing out that those who
heard and were taught the word over a long period of time received none of its
benefits because they refused to believe any of it. It is a warning for both
Jew and gentile today that those merely being willing to hear the word for a
long time, who still refuse to believe it, have excluded themselves to enter
into God’s rest in His kingdom forever by their refusal to believe, their
faithlessness.

with the included idea of trust and holy fervor born of faith and joined with
it; the conviction that God exists and is the creator and ruler of all things,
the provider and bestower of eternal salvation through Christ; the strong and
welcome conviction or belief that Jesus is the Messiah, through whom we obtain
eternal salvation in the kingdom of God; beliefs of ALL Christians, without exceptions;
belief with the predominate idea of trust (or confidence) whether in God or in
Christ, springing from faith in the same; fidelity, faithfulness.
Dearly beloveds, God is relentless in pointing out that those who
heard and were taught the word over a long period of time received none of its
benefits because they refused to believe any of it. It is a warning for both
Jew and gentile today that those merely being willing to hear the word for a
long time, who still refuse to believe it, have excluded themselves to enter
into God’s rest in His kingdom forever by their refusal to believe, their
faithlessness.

STUDIES IN HEBREWS
CHAPTER FOUR
Brothers and sisters, praise Jesus our Lord and Saviour, Prophet, High
Priest, Mediator, Prince of Peace, Wonderful, Counselor, the Almighty God. Yes,
Lord we praise and thank you for you are made heir of all things, by our Father
and yours. God through you Lord Jesus, made the worlds and everything in them.
We bless your name forever, you are the light of His glory and the
express image of His person, and by your power you uphold all things even us
your people in your Almighty hands. Amen,
thanks, blessings and praises to you Lord for so thoroughly and completely did
you fulfill all prophecies, and all commandments of God the Father in your final
finished eternal work of salvation that our Father God has set you up above all He created and placed
you on His right hand, and made you High Priest forever.
Brothers and sisters, let us give thanks to our God our Father who
has set God His Son Jesus Christ in our midst, that we can behold Him, glorify,
and see Him from the eyes of God His loving Father. It is to us His family that
He presents His Son, our Elder Brother, the first born from the dead, now risen
with the gift of eternal life to all who believe.
God’s theme keeps on running, holy people, we either believe or we do
not believe. God keeps on comparing and contrasting the one with the other and
absolutely declaring that belief is absolutely acceptable, and unbelief is
absolutely unacceptable. There is no combination of mixing the two, its God’s
way or no way into His kingdom. Again, and again God keeps declaring its war or
peace, friendship, or enemy ship, its either believer, or unbeliever. No
compromise, no mixing. Unbelief=equals an evil wicked heart, person.
God our Father gives to the believer eternal blessings and strong assurance
-His absolute eternal guarantee that every believer can and will enter into His
kingdom. In contrast, unbelievers, those who hear the word and are taught it often
and still reject it are guaranteed God’s absolute fury, indignation, wrath, and
absolute promise that all such will never enter into His kingdom.
Heb
4:1 - Let
us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of
entering into his rest, any of you should
seem to come short of it.
FEAR: to be in awe: to reverence,
venerate, to treat with deference or reverential obedience.
PROMISE: announcement, promise, the act of promising, a promise
given or to be given, a promised good or blessing.
COME
SHORT OF IT: to come late or too tardily; to be left behind in the race and so
fail to reach the goal, to fall short of the end; metaph. fails to become a
partaker, fall back from; to fail, be wanting; to be in want of, lack; to be
inferior in excellence, worth.
Brothers and sisters, most certainly it
behooves us to examine ourselves, to ensure that we believe understand and have
taken the word of God into our hearts in full faith to our God who is incapable
of lies, trickery or deceit and always tells the truth.
None of us should deceive ourselves to
think that God feels so sorry for anyone “struggling” with unbelief in Him. Therefore,
the Lord will take pity on such and feel so sorry for their suffering and “struggling”
with unbelief in Jesus Christ that He will let them into heaven because they
suffer so badly the pains of unbelief.
The Bible quickly, explicitly, declares
the eternal truth: Jhn 3:36 - He that believeth
on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not
see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Jhn 8:24 - I said therefore unto you, that ye shall
die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in
your sins.
THE SOLE CAUSE OF UNREPENTANT UNBELIEF
Jhn 10:26 - But ye believe
not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
Brothers and sisters, when God declares
there is no excuse for the unrepentant unbeliever, that is what He absolutely
means for all eternity.
God’s word is absolute inerrant truth. It
is given to let the believer as well as the unbeliever amongst them know that
unbelievers are excluded from any part in His kingdom forever. For the believer
alone is granted eternal life.
Note, brethren, how God is bringing this
to our attention full force relentlessly, to make sure that we understand Him. Let
us examine our own hearts to see if we are true believers as we can measure
this by God’s word whether we are in full faith to God or not. I plead to any brother or sister amongst us, who has ongoing doubt
and unbelief that they would repent
quickly and come believing the eternal truth of God, THEREBY MAKING THEIR
CALLING AND ELECTION SURE SO THAT THEY WILL NEVER FALL: 2Pe 1:10.

STUDIES IN HEBREWS
CHAPTER FOUR
Brothers and sisters, praise God our
Father who has so freely given us His pearl of great price, God His only Son
Lord Jesus Christ. Most merciful Father blessed be your Holy name, for giving
us your only Son, even though we are not worthy so much as to unloose His sandals
from His feet. Father God we can never forget that you were the first to trust
in God your Son Jesus Christ, and therefore we undoubtedly should gladly do the
same. He is incomparable, utterly faithful, and gives us the supreme example of
being obedient to your will.
Lord Jesus we will never forget all that
you have done for us. Because of you Lord Jesus, we have salvation, are made a
part of your eternal holy family, we have an eternal fellowship, home, hope, and
the right, privilege, honor, and command to rest in the everlasting truth of
your love. Holy brethren, let us keep one another in our hearts and prayers,
and continually remember how greatly we are loved by our God and indeed one
another. Raise your hand brethren, if you can feel God pulling us ever tighter
to Him and one another in fellowship that only His saints (G40 hagios) have the
right to receive. I raised mine with thanks.
Brothers and sisters, as we enter into
the fourth chapter of Hebrews, we note with great care the repetitiveness of encouragements
and the stern warnings from God of His absolute qualifications that He has
established for anyone to enter into His rest or be forever barred from ever
entering into His rest. We note the absence of the mention for the need of additional
help to enter into His rest from any denominations, organizations, institutions,
alternative doctrines to scripture, redemptrix’s, various people outside of Christ,
for God has rooted all of them out from the beginning: Heb 1:3. All that
God presents to us is God His Perfect Son, because God His Perfect Son is all
we will ever need to enter into the presence of the Father: Jhn 14:6.
Brothers and sisters, here are some
helpful verses and feel to add you own. Find laid out the whole chapter of Hebrews
to pour over, prior to the upcoming study, and let God speak to your heart for
your personal edification and encouragement: Gen 2:3; Mat 11:28; Mat 11:29; Jhn 3:18; 1Jo 5:1; 1Jo 5:10; Jhn 3:18; Jhn 3:18.
Heb 4:1 - Let
us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of
entering into his rest, any of you should
seem to come short of it.
Heb
4:2 - For unto
us was the gospel preached, as well as unto
them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being
mixed with faith in them that heard it.
Heb
4:3 - For we
which have believed do enter into rest, as he
said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they
shall enter into my rest: although the works were
finished from the foundation of the world.
Heb
4:4 - For he
spake in a certain place of the seventh day on
this wise, And God did rest the
seventh day from all his works.
Heb
4:5 - And in this place again, If they
shall enter into my rest.
Heb
4:6 - Seeing therefore it
remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to
whom it was
first preached entered not in because of
unbelief:
Heb
4:7 - Again, he
limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To
day, after so long a time; as it is said, To
day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
Heb
4:8 - For if Jesus had
given them rest, then would he not afterward have
spoken of another day.
Heb
4:9 - There
remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
Heb
4:10 - For he
that is entered into his rest, he also hath
ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
Heb
4:11 - Let
us labour therefore to
enter into that rest, lest any
man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Heb
4:12 - For the
word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even
to the dividing asunder of
soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a
discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Heb
4:13 - Neither is
there any creature that is not manifest in
his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto
the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
Heb
4:14 - Seeing then that
we have a great high priest, that is passed into the
heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
Heb
4:15 - For we
have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the
feeling of our infirmities; but was in all
points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Heb
4:16 - Let
us therefore come boldly unto the throne of
grace, that we may
obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time
of need.
