CRUCIFIXION

Crucifixion as a method of excutation under the Roman Empire

The Romans used different forms of crosses for execution. Tradition holds that the Roman soldiers crucified Jesus on a + form with the vertical section extending above the cross bar, and this seems likely since they nailed an inscription above His head. While methods of crucifixion varied, executioners  stripped naked many victims and fastened  them with ropes or nails through the cross beam while  it lay on the ground.They then hoisted the victim with the crossbeam against the standing vertical stake, to which a block or peg sometimes fastened  as a crude seat. The Roman soldiers then tied or nailed the victims feet to the stake. Death came after a lengthy time of agonizing pain and suffering and was caused by a combination of suffocation, shock, dehydration starvation or exhaustion.

Therefore they took Jesus away. Carrying His own cross. He went out to what is called Skull Place, which in Hebrew is called Golgotha .There they crucified Him and two others with Him, one on either side, with Jesus in the middle. Pilate also had a sign lettered and put on the cross. The inscription was;

JESUS THE NAZARENE THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Let Your Light Shine

Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16... Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or what ever you do, do everything for Gods glory. 1 Corinthians 10:31..... When Christ saves us it then becomes our job to glorify Him in everything we do.

WORSHIP LEADS TO SERVICE

THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE HAS ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR; HE HATH SENT ME TO HEAL THE BROKENHEARTED, TO PREACH DELIVERANCE TO THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERING OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET AT LIBERTY THEM THAT ARE BRUISED, TO PREACH THE ACCEPTABLE YEAR OF THE LORD. Luke 4:18-19.....Worship does directly inspire us and allows us to recognize and respond to Gods motivation and encouragement to action. Then he presents the opportunity for service, giving us the green light with the promise He will go with us. Are you prepared to move into action when the green light turns on? I truly hope so.

MERCY OF GOD

33 Oh the depth of riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge  of God. How unsearchable  His judgements and untraceble His ways! 34 For who has known the mind of the Lord? or who has been His counselor? 35 Or who has first given to Him , and has to be repaid? 36 For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.To Him be the glory forever amen. Romans 11: 33-36.. All things whether on earth or in heaven belong to God, in all reality we dont have anything. Our earthly possesions dont mean a thing to God, its our spiritual readiness to serve Him that God is concerned about. We dont need to worry so much about earthly things but concentrate on the heavenly things.,  Serve and give God the Praise and Glory He so richly deserves.

GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

7-A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person to produce what is benefical: 8- To one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit, to another a message of Knowledge by the same Spirit, 9- To another faith by the same spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10- To another the performing of miracles to another prophecy, to another distinguising between spirits to another different kinds of languages, to another interpretation of languages..1 Corinthians 12:7-10..We all have a spiritual gift. This gift comes from the Holy Spirit which distributes to each one as He wills.  We are all one body but with many parts. Although you might not think you are spiritually gifted we each have this gift.  God may already be using you and you dont recgonize your special gift,but others do.We just need to learn what the gift is and how to use it to the Glory of God.

STAND IN TRUTH

14 Stand, therefore, with truth around your waist, righeouness like armor on your chest,15 and your feet sandaled with readiness of the gospel of peace.16 In every situation take the shield of faith. and with it you wil be able to extinguise the fiery darts of the evil one.17 Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit  which is Gods Word. Ephesians 5:14-17........What Paul was saying was that we are warriors of God our mission is to teach the truth which is the Gospel of Jesus. And to be  ready to teach this at all times. Also to use our faith against satan. Our weapons are our salvation and the sword, which is the mighty Word of God. If we use these weapons to fight satan, evil does not stand a chance. And we can overcome through our faith in our Lord And Savior Jesus Christ.

HE IS

 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation; because by Him everything was created, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities- all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things and by Him all things hold together. He is also the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He might come to have first place in everything. Because the fullness was pleased to dwell in Him, And to reconcile everything to Himself through Him by making peace through the blood of His cross- whether things on earth or in heaven. Colossians 1:15-20. These scriptures tell us that God is fully in charge of everything here on earth and in heaven. As Christians we are protected by this awsome power.What a great and wonderous feeling just know God can be in total control of our lives if we just let Him.

WAIT ON THE LORD

Wait on the LORD ; Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait I say, on the LORD. Psalm 27:14.....While reading this passage, I thought there are so many people today that seems like there in such a mad rush very hyper and seldom rest. David the writer of this passage, was not hyper. David did many great things, but he did them with the strength that came from outside himself. And though he seemed tireless , he rarely moved under his own power. It seems like no one has any patience every thing needs to be done yesterday or asap, we wrap our lives around deadlines and scheduals. David dicovered that the secret of any great decision is timing. Hurry sickness is not part of the process, waiting on the Lord is. Wisdom and a clear vision are part of Gods timing.   Wait on the LORD . Wait''

SING A NEW SONG

Sing unto Him a new song; play skiffully with a loud noise. Psalm 33:3

The Psalmist urged readers to '' sing....a new song " not because it sounds cool or trendy but to acknowledge the truthfulness of Gods word and His character. Singing "a new song" is not about our musical preferences, it is about Gods faithfulness to do new things in our lives But by shrinking from anything new, we avoid having to trust in God.. If we put our trust in God we will never be afraid to sing a new song, and we will be able to do new things in our lives through our faith  in God.

May everyone have a Glorias day in the Lord Sunday as in everyday. And remember daylight savings time tonight!

TO LIVE IN CHRIST

For me to live is Christ, for me to die is gain. Philippians 1:21.....Lost people dont think about Jesus very often. But if they watch a Christian go through a trial, and respond with joy, Jesus begins to look attractive. As he wrote his letter to the philippians , Paul was chained in prison, yet he recognized that his trials magnified the Lord. His concern was not on himself but that Christ was being exalted. When we are struggling through diffcult situations, we need to stop for a minute and think about the people who are watching us. We have a great opportunity to demonstrate to them what faith really means. Some of us might be facing trials right now that could be used to magnify God. Are we willing to be used to glorify God?

Trust The One Who Calms Storms

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace be still. and the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Mark 4:39....From the time we are born to the moment we die, we will encounter unpredictible  turns in the road of life. At different times we might encounter obstacles such as turmoil, strife, and discord. When the quiet of our souls is assaulted, the ultimate point of peace is our relationship with the Lord Jesus. For He not only posseses peace, His very nature is peace. Think about the words Jesus spoke to a raging storm: Peace Be Still. We may not always be succesful in situations that need change. The Lord may even have a specific purpose  for the tears or difficulty, but He is always the same. His peace abounds whether we feel it or not. What can we do? we can pray to the Lord of peace the one who is capable of giving peace to all who trust in Him.

CHEER UP

 Psalm 43:55-Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God......Even as Christians we some times find ourselves down or in a sullen mood. We can relate to the writer of Psalm 43 asking ourselves, Why am I so down Lord? Our remedy is simple. As stated in the old hymn Count Your Blessings," We can list numerous ways God blesses us everyday. When we face trials that cause negitave feelings, we need to try and find something positive about what is going on in our lives. And by all means dont let the negative things of the world take away our joy. Praise God and He will restore happiness to us all so that we may radiate His light to others.

OLD FOLKS

And be ye kind to one to another. tender hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ sake hath forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32.... I love old folks, they can be such an inspiration if you give them a chance. I always make a point to talk to the older people at church, and they seem to enjoy it so much. Just a little time means a lot to them. So many people dont have time for them. For some even their own children hardly ever calls or visits, they are very lonely. So give a little extra time the next time a older lady or man seems to be moving to slow at the check out or getting out the door, and maybe ask if you can help, give them a smile. And remember you are going to be old someday, It just might make your day!
