Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. Ephesians 5:1-2 NKJV

The Good Shepherd
Most people do not understand the role of a Palestine shepherd.
This job typically required long hours and lots of work. The sheep were
normally exposed to the danger of wild animals and thieves. This means
that a shepherd had to maintain a consistent, patient love for his
sheep. Jesus shows us the richness of Himself as the Good Shepherd in
John 10:11. He shows us that His ultimate desire is to lay down His life
for the sheep. The great part about this passage is that this promise
of salvation for His sheep extends beyond Israel and to all Gentiles who
receive Jesus as the Good Shepherd.
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. John 10:11 KJV
Do you need mercy? Do you need the ability to see God? Call on Him
today. The Lord is passing by. Turn from your tendency toward self
-sufficiency. Don’t keep your needs hidden quietly inside yourself. Let
Him hear your voice. He will listen, and He will act on your behalf.
“Go your way,” Jesus told him. “Your faith has healed you.” Immediately he could see and began to follow Him on the road. Mark 10:52 HCSB
We often complain about our circumstances without realizing they
are the consequences of sinfulness and a part of the Lord’s loving and
gracious discipline for that sin. Just as our parents disciplined us as
we grew up God also disciplines His children. Often,God uses testing,
trials, and various predicaments to bring us back to Himself. God
disciplines us because He loves us, drawing us to Himself. Never flee
from His presence. His motive is love alone. He wants only the best for
us.
I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love.To them I was like one who liftsa little child to the cheek, and I bent down to feed them. Hosea 11:4 NIV
Have you ever wandered Why? Why is the sky blue and not pink? Why
do dogs have fur instead of scales? Why do some men like growing a beard
instead of a goatee? Many of those why questions are trivial, but there
is one that’s not: Why did Jesus come to earth as human? Why did He
come to earth, love us to the point of death, and conquer sin and death
through His resurrection? He came to save sinners. Based on scripture,
we know that each of us is a sinner, and therefore in need of God’s
grace and mercy. Jesus had a plan and purpose for His time on earth, and
that plan was to provide salvation to all who would accept it.
This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. 1 Timothy 1:15 NKJV
Two oxen joined by a wooden frame pull their heavy load. The wooden
frame is a yoke. In new testament times, it was a common metaphor for
one persons subjection to another. In Judaism, a yoke also referred to
the law. Jesus knows the laboring of the human heart. He is ultimately
acquainted with your struggles, doubts, fears, and guilt. And he sees
the pull that legalism’s yoke holds on your heart. So He offers relief
in the form of another yoke- His own. The yoke of rules is heavy; the
yoke of Jesus is light. The yoke of legalism oppresses you; the yoke of
Jesus relieves you. The yoke of the law says “work for me” The yoke of
Jesus says “rest in me.”
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:29 NIV
